Thermen-Hotel Rottaler Hof in Bad Fussing

We spent a three-night short break at the Rottaler Hof thermal spa hotel. Booking in advance was quick and easy.

However, our first impression upon arrival was disappointing. Both the initial phone call and the general atmosphere among the staff felt very cold and unwelcoming. Friendliness, small talk, or a genuine sense of welcome were completely absent. Many employees seemed serious, some even annoyed, and not very approachable.

We found it particularly off-putting when we were approached about alleged noise disturbances that had been going on for two days – at which point we had only been at the hotel for one day. In our opinion, such cases should be investigated more thoroughly before guests are prematurely accused.

The hotel has a small, in-house thermal spa with very warm water. Unfortunately, both the waterfall and a water outlet were out of order for the entire duration of our stay. According to a staff member, they were timed, but they didn't work even at the scheduled times.

On the positive side, the breakfast was delicious and plentiful. As a suggestion for improvement, we would like to see warm items such as sausages, meatloaf, or freshly prepared omelets offered. The fried eggs, which could be ordered separately, were very greasy, and there is also room for improvement regarding the fresh fruit and vegetables.

It was also very disappointing that our room was not cleaned once during our entire three-night stay. There were no fresh towels, no garbage disposal, and no even a quick cleaning, which we find unacceptable for a hotel of this category.

The Wi-Fi throughout the hotel was extremely poor: very slow, unstable, and sometimes completely unusable. This is problematic for guests who need to be reachable or want to work briefly.

Furthermore, the reception is no longer staffed after 8:00 p.m., and the hotel's own thermal baths also close at 8:00 p.m. For a spa hotel, we feel these service hours are far too early and detract from the relaxation experience.

Another point of criticism: The hotel offers discounted tickets for the thermal baths in Bad Füssing. Unfortunately, the staff didn't actively point this out; instead, it was only mentioned via a notice that was easy to miss. As a result, we paid the full price for admission, even though a cheaper option would have been available.

In conclusion: A hotel with good ideas, but significant room for improvement – ​​especially in the areas of service, friendliness, communication, room cleaning, technical equipment, and organization.

The reception was really amazing, I've never experienced anything like it before. First, we asked for a second pillow. The answer was, "Will there be enough tomorrow?" My dad asked for a bottle opener, but unfortunately they didn't have one. He would have to ask in the restaurant. The next day, I asked about the temperature of the thermal baths, and the man told me he didn't know, as he hadn't been there very long. And then I asked for a plaster after I had hurt myself, but the lady at the reception told me she didn't have any. So, sorry, that's just not acceptable, I was very disappointed. We'd rather look for another hotel.

We booked another 7 nights at the "Thermenhotel" with friends and this year we got a hotel with a pool.
The water felt like 25-26 degrees.
The indoor pool was also much too cold.
We were looking forward to the soothing warmth,
like many others.
Then we had to switch to a thermal spa
because we were freezing in the water and in the indoor pool.
Despite repeated requests, only half-hearted
excuses.
We weren't used to that from the previous management.
The only thing the hotel could score points for this year was the breakfast and Julia
at the reception.
It was definitely our last stay at this hotel.
