Room was very outdated, pillows felt as if they had been there since the hotel opened its doors 30 odd years ago and didn’t offer any support, my head was on the mattress most of the night..

Room and bathroom clean but rather dated. Woodchip wallpaper painted yellow. Crack in one wall. Furniture a bit dated. A bit like staying in student accommodation from 30 years ago. Bar and reception staff very helpful and efficient. Didn’t eat breakfast in the hotel because it was fairly pricey and alternatives within walking distance. Hotel was in a good location.

Cute clean town
The hotel is well taken care of, but the room was a bit dated and quite high noise from the AC. The town is cute and clean, well worth a visit.

After eight hours travelling to Bayreuth, my welcome was less than friendly. This undoubtedly coloured my view of the rest of my short stay.

OK place, with friendly staff and good facilities. It is a bit basic. Rooms are a bit small and do not come with a fridge or tea & coffee facilities. They do not bring your luggage to your room. Breakfast is OK. As is the focus on the Festspiele. Location is OK, not in but close to the city centre.

Reasonable with Some Shortcomings
Hotel Rheingold was generally comfortable and well-appointed, but there were some shortcomings. The fitness center was disappointing, with only two aerobic exercise machines, including one very squeaky bike. There wasn’t a tea or coffee pot in the room, which required “borrowing” one and carrying it from the front desk. And, with no room refrigerator, the only option was storing items in the communal refrigerator in the front desk office. And, be sure to bring shampoo, as only liquid soap is provided in the shower. Though friendly enough, the staff wasn’t overly warm when fielding these issues. The hotel is located a bit away the old town area, but it’s a fairly easy walk to enjoy the charm of Bayreuth. So despite some inconveniences, Hotel Rheingold overall is a reasonable choice for the price and location.
