The only thing that would change my mind is that the staff could have a bit more control over the summer camp

Very friendly staff with great tips and information about the area. Not to mention the Black Forest right outside the door!!! Just be prepared for people being up at late hours of the evening, maybe earplugs if you're a light sleeper. Great breakfast spread and clean rooms, can't ask for much more.

Nice place. A bit pricey by hostel standards and it''s bit of a walk from the train station, so rail backpackers, take note. Marked down one star because our room lacked in some common hostel ammenities, such as accessible power outlets and hand soap (toliet was in the room). Spacious rooms. Ideal for people young at heart. Since this is a youth hostel, make sure to come prepared with a high tolerance for noise. The wifi is quite slow. The included breakfast is nothing special. The hostel is immersed in greenery. There are many cycling and walking trails through the forest.

It has nice rooms, and also you can get nice view of Schwarzwald, tasty cold breakfast, and nice service. The only thing that concerns me is that it could be tricky for someone new to locate the place. But it's actually pretty easy after the first time around

I arrived looking to check in around 2 PM. With a small amount of language-barrier difficulty. When I returned later that night, I walked into the room to find out that a family had been assigned the same room under the impression that they had it to themselves. Basic hostel. Clean but grubby. Pretty dim at night. Bring a battery operated candle for a little mood lighting by your bed. Location can't be beat. About 5 minutes by foot to downtown.

Nothing special, considering the cost. It is quite spacious and has nice common areas, including the kitchen. The location is perfect, as it’s close to the centre. I've stayed numerous times at the Black Forest hostel across the last four years; it's always a treat. The hostel lockers are in some rooms creaky, yes, and it has only just introduced wifi, but it's a great, open space - that immense kitchen, man! The best in Freiburg. Comfortable, clean and friendly, great place to stay, get to know the city and make new friends. The neighborhood it's beautiful, close to the river and next to the Black Forest. Definitely I will return again :)

A cozy hostel with welcoming staff and clean rooms, beds, toilets and showers. The kitchen offers everything needed for cooking but for the showers you need to have your own stuff. It has an amazing hall with ping pong and billiard table. Highly recommend it 👌

The hostel is right next to the forest and has a pool and sauna, but you have to be naked to swim or use the sauna

It's a very good and comfortable place to stay. The warden speak English. Super easy for foreign travelers. It's about a 15 minute walk from railway station. The hostel-style dormitories were fairly comfortable and include full use of spa which was very nice. Be aware a €4.50 extra charge is made for bed linen and towels. Staff were helpful but not super friendly. The breakfast here is terrible! Do not buy it - go next door to Busse’s Waldcafe which offers a fantastic and generous breakfast buffet for about €11

Very nice property for short term renters. We were there for 7 days as tourists visiting Freiburg and were super happy with our stay. I traveled to a lot of locations in the world. Without any doubt, it was one of the best places that I stayed for a long time. I stayed there for nearly two months. I tried two dishes. The "Rahmschnitzel" and the "Rostbraten". The schnitzel was way too dry and the cut was too thin, but the "Rostbraten" was excellent. The restaurant is expensive and the portions are relatively small. The restaurant is special because there are many employees with a disability. The waiters are very friendly and often happy.

Cosy, cosy in the winter super in the summer. Lovely rooms, helpful staff, and the food, well come and try it this is our third visit. These fotos are not far from the hotel. Even though there is a station you cannot hear the trains. Food? All sorts available, for your small appetite, to your hunger has been met.

Good food with some dishes that are not as boring as usual with a twist. The menu is short but has enough for Veggies too. Staff was friendly, food took a little longer but still OK. Makes sense to book a table in advance.
