A bit overpriced for what it's worth but the panorama is indeed lovely. The climb up from the ferry is absolute murder, avoid if possible.

Cozy place, decent food for friendly price

Great place for dinner, they even have an English translation of the menu. The food was really delicious for a good price. The pork tongue was really delicious, the pork steak with mushrooms was also delicious. I highly recommend this place. Also the atmosphere inside is very nice and the waiters are kind.

Great food great ambience! But the bowling alley was a little noisy from the restaurant area, I guess that can’t be helped. It is still cool that they manage to fit 3 bowling alleys in there!

Nice place that gave us a pleasant surprise during our hike of the Malerweg. They have a very nice Spa area with IR, finish, steam and normal saunas. Absolutely fantastic place to stay. Wonderful views. The staff are beyond friendly and professional. The rooms are tip-top and Jessica is the most beautiful woman in all of Germany. This is the place to choose for a short stay or a long stay. If we ever come back to Bad Schandau we would 100% stay here again.

I would not give the Hotel 5 stars. I would give it 3 stars based on the following observations. The breakfast buffet was simple, void of fresh fruit, fresh juice, and the eggs boiled hard. Actually should be 4,5 or a but more. Solid quality food with a great service and some nice selection of Czech beer. We enjoyed two very nice meals here and would recommend the place. The best thing we ate and drunk in Bad Schandau came from Czech Republic.

A nice guest house in the Saxony area. It's a few minutes away from Bastei bridge and other sites. The owners are friendly and happy to serve you cold fresh beer after a long day of hiking. The rooms are old but comfortable. You'll experience a nice homey welcome in this place. The meals, drinks and rooms are fairly priced.

I can't understand some of the negative reviews. Our room (101), downstairs in the entrance area, was large and had everything you need. The view wasn't ideal (wall of the house) but whoever spends the night in Bad Schandau is out and about during the day anyway. We have had a comfortable room,with very comfortable beds and a small bathroom. The front Desk was very polite and courteous and the Breakfast more than ample. However, the price( 87€ incl. Tourist tax,of which 16€!!! the Breakfast accounted for) for an Overnight stay but very steep.

Close to the bus stop for the kirnitzsch valley railway, this small Gasthof is with the us small rooms. But good food and a very friendly service. All in all, you can recommend this house to other people. It is, unfortunately, on the main road into the national Park and in the rooms on the street side it could with the window open in the summer, the one or other disturb.

Nice hotel in a perfect environment for a hiking vacation with a confortable stay (+sauna!). The staff was nice and accomodating.

We attended the Christmas night ballroom dance and had a lovely time. The ballroom is beautiful and has a really nice floor. The music was good. We discovered dance by chance and went because we were staying nearby. We will be going back next Christmas. Update we have been coming every year for the dance except during covid.

food was average but I give 4 stars mainly because of waiters which were generally quite nice and normal. I found it to be an exception in the area of Sachsische Schweiz

The location was suitable for my itinerary along the Malerweg. There was a bar, the room was warm and cosy. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was great - so much choice and all fresh ingredients.

Check in and check-out were smooth. The buffet breakfast was of high quality with fresh bread and eggs and cold cuts amongst other things. The wifi was reliable and reasonably fast. The facilities were clean and comfortable. Plenty of space to hang out with friends too. Would definitely stay again.

The Hotel is basic mill is a small, owner-run family hotel. The operator-married couple is very friendly and helpful, for example when planning a route for a hike through the Saxon Switzerland. A small Highlight is the Breakfast buffet, which is not a supermarket product, but with many local specialities, includes.

My husband and I have joined in the Hotel, basic mill. The Breakfast buffet was very rich and good, the staff very friendly, the rooms very clean. And as icing on the cake on top of it could for free with the public transport Bus and train go! Easy class!

A small family run hotel. Due to the location in the valley, there is no longer any direct sun in the evenings and (in June) it was relatively cool in the evenings. What I saw as an absolute plus on vacation, however, because the rooms don't heat up that much, you can open the windows in the evenings on hot days and ultimately sleep at a pleasant room temperature. This is a great location to start trekking tours if you do not have a car. All public transport possibilities has stops at the hotel. You also reach central Bad Schandau in 20 Minutes on foot if you need to catch a ferry over Elbe. Hotel rooms are simple and not for people who wants luxury. Great Hotel, very clean and tidy. Good Breakfast, particularly popular are the egg salad and the honey. Unfortunately, the Wi-Fi worked almost at all, in the present time (and in the already poor network in the Saxon Switzerland). Apart from that, I can recommend the Hotel without reservation.

Visited as part of the panorama tour, the ferry travels on the Elbe between Krippen and Bad Schandau. Walking a shortcut that I didn't want to use on my bike.
