Reviews
Rooms and location are ok.
2. As said before the room was not clean we found a Tobleron empty package under the bed, it really wasn't hard to spot, so that says a lot about the cleaning effort.
3. The downgraded room had very old and partially broken furniture and wasn't to the standard of the hotel.
4. The buffet was good and the hotel in the common areas are nice.
5. They need to update the tvs.
Beds are just two small beds shoved together with two blankets folded on top. Not one, two. No air conditioning. When we arrived the temperature said 25.5°. I set the AC to 19° and we were gone for 7 hours. Came back and the temperature was 25°. The air blowing out of the single vent was room temperature and almost not perceptible.
The front desk guy and one of his buddies are outside at 23:45 revving the engine on some 20-year-old Mercedes.
No mini bar.
Tiny television.
Nice French doors that open onto a glass railing. This is nice because there is no air conditioning, however, you have to deal with the parking lot lights lighting up your room, so don't count on it for sleeping.
The main room lighting is on par with your average office building. Nothing soothing or calming, but you can sure read.
Two packs of cheap instant coffee and a water pot.
A bathtub! Not a sleek or nicely tiled shower, a bathtub.
How has this place ever earned a single 4 star review?
Negatives: Breakfast is bad (most of it is dry and/or tasteless), room feels mildly damp even though aircon is on full time, my room needed a "master-cleaning", "spa" and fitness are there to get another star and really could be much better (in fairness, i did not use them - but i did visit them to determine if i wanted to try them).
Some of my negative experiences:
Cleaning is only once per three nights (on a four night stay, that should be after two nights).
When the room was cleaned i was left a new towel that had a large brown/red spot on it.
Breakfast pancake "pan" had a large black hair in the middle of the pancakes.
Curtains are hung VERY high and almost impossible to get to cover the window - and it was loose in one side.
Headboard had small red dots (blod?) and furniture and curtain had (non-red) spots as well. Could be solved easily with a damp cloth and two minutes more for the cleaning crew.
And no - i did not contact the reception with any of this. I am sure they would have solved any any of it, they seem nice and the hotel is not full. Any one thing did not an annoy me that much, but overall i think there were too many small annoyances for a four star hotel.
My suggestion would be to try one of the other local hotels with three or four stars and similar pricing.
The staff have been bordering on rude
We had no shower gel and they expected us to fill it ourselves , when I told them it was empty they said get it from reception. A 4 star hotel and I’m supposed to fill my shower soap?? I don’t think so. So we went without as they didn’t do it.
The breakfast had no oat or almond milk options yet they promote vegan in their breakfast
When we arrived four staff members watched us struggle with our bags into the lift without any offer of help we had to get our own baggage trolley and load our baggage into the lift.
The lady that checked us in didn’t even tell us our room number just said it’s down the hall with a sour face then we were charged an extra $50 as a so-called deposit that we weren’t told about.
The steam room isn’t open till 4pm and when we went to use it at 4.25 pm it was not turned on. We had to wait till 5 pm for the sauna to heat up. No apologies offered.
After the room was supposedly clean, we still had dirty glasses, dirty coffee cups, and a dirty pillowcase
The breakfast is okay if you like cheese and meat not much other options
There was some nice fresh fruit
Other reviews say great location. It is to the train station but it’s a bit of a walk to cafes and restaurants etc.
Unfortunately, no Smart TV no Foxtel etc only German-speaking TV stations if you don’t speak German basically no TV.
Just the attitude of the staff all round left a bad memory for us, especially the women at check-in.
The breakfast and food options were excellent—plenty of variety and great quality. The hotel’s location is a big plus: it’s very close to the central station and the U-Bahn, which made getting around the city a breeze. It’s also within a reasonable walking distance of the Christmas markets and the city center, which was perfect for our holiday visit.
A special shoutout to Thanos and Leonid, who went above and beyond while serving us at the bar and restaurant. They were so friendly and attentive, even bringing food for our dog, which was a lovely touch. The cleaning staff were equally welcoming and kind to our pup, making the experience even better.
Overall, this hotel is an ideal choice for anyone traveling with pets or without. We’ll definitely be back!
We stayed at ARCOTEL Camino Stuttgart last week, and it’s a gorgeous, quiet hotel. The location is very convenient—not too far of a walk from the train station and just a reasonable stroll to the Christmas markets. While we could have chosen a closer hotel, this one was much nicer, and we were happy with our choice.
The only issue was that our room was never cleaned, despite leaving the door hanger requesting service. We did sleep in, but this still should have been addressed.
Regardless of the poor service, I would still recommend this hotel for its beauty, comfort, and location.
