Le Meridien Stuttgart

The hotel is fine. 80s elegance and a throw back to another Era. Clean, big common areas and rooms. Getting there is another matter. Google Stuttgart 21, it's a €10 billion project that's lasted 15 years with no end in sight. Getting to/from the hotel is a nightmare. Walking is your best option and it's a 35 minute walk into the heart of the city. The location is absolutely horrendous with the construction all around the hotel. The jack hammering noise starts early and goes all day. Yes, its not their fault but if you want to visit Stuttgart, don't stay here. You'll regret it immediately. I feel bad for this hotel, it'd be a gem if it were in another location. Looked the construction photos first. Then decide, but buyer beware.

The staff at this hotel are incredibly friendly and helpful, and their warmth is truly commendable. However, even their kindness couldn’t compensate for the overall disappointing experience. The hotel’s interior feels uninviting and dim, with rooms that either overlook a noisy highway or a rather bleak garden. The rooms themselves are so poorly lit that even on a bright summer morning, it feels like the middle of November.

The amenities were the most disappointing aspect. My partner had to take a confidential call with a client, so I left the room in search of a quiet place to read, as I often do when we travel. Unfortunately, this hotel lacked a proper lounge area; the bar was too noisy, and the lobby was overcrowded. I eventually resorted to sitting on the stairs leading to the conference area, which was far from ideal. It’s surprising that a hotel of this size doesn’t offer a simple business lounge for its guests.

The in-room amenities were also lacking, limited to basic soaps and shampoos, which was worse than what you might find in a budget hotel. The towels were old, and one even had a stain.

On a positive note, the breakfast was surprisingly good. Despite this, I don’t think I’ll be returning to this hotel in the future.

This hotel belongs in a Wes Anderson movie and I don't mean in a good way. I was first denied an upgrade as a gold member elite then I was hit with the pleasant surprise that my room was a half mile walk from the elevator. I felt like I was staying at a cheap American motel with the view of construction and having to hear a busy highway all night. The best part is the check out. Not sure what scam they are running on tourists but they charge your card multiple times so you don't notice that you're actually paying more than the final bill. I called the hotel to correct the charge and they told me to send an email. After ghosting me I message them on the app just to have you run in circles. I'm staying at the Royal next time. Smaller rooms but much better location and service.
