The chef, who is actually only responsible for the breakfast buffet, which has been excellent for many years, spoiled us and our guests with a superb multi-course star menu on the evening of our anniversary

The price/quality is excellent! I travel a lot for work so I can judge this well. Comfortable bed and good pillow. Despite the central location, it is very quiet. The breakfast was delicious, the choice was adequate

Very convenient location, city center, easy to get to. I can only rate the restaurant. Waiting time was 30 minutes (full restaurant) and the menu is very small but nice. You can get your money's worth here

Also this year we booked ourselves into the four star Michel Hotel Suhl for a week. We were particularly impressed by this hotel, which is located in the city centre on the beautiful Herrenteich

Excellent, recommendable. Large room, large bed and wash room, very clean. And quiet. Free soft drinks/water. Excellent breakfast at 6.30 am with a wide selection. Very good value.

Suhl sounds like a good name for an evil wizard. The best hotel stay I've had in ages. Nothing fancy, but everything just worked as it should. You need your chip to work the lift

Went to Suhl to research my famìly history All the staff at hotel and townhall and Church where every helpful. Hotel had recent upgrades and good rooms

Young boy, I am stranded here because I had a flat tire. Price performance is okay but not great. I don't know when my bathroom mirror was last cleaned in my room, but maybe too high standards for you who knows

All the staff we met were extremely friendly and professional. I don't speak any German (typical British person!) but most of the staff spoke some English. I had an excellent sleep on a very comfortable bed

The food in the restaurant was excellent, but they do not have English menus, so Google translate came in very handy! Large, safe car park at the back of the hotel. Ignore the old reviews, this place is wunderbar!

Very nice accommodations. Love the pool. Right in the middle of everything. Food was great. Alexandria provided excellent service for lunch.

Really good location if arriving to Suhl by train as it is right in front of the station. Breakfast is nice and simple with fruits available. Room was nice and spacious, wish there was AC but those are rare in Germany.

Nice hotel with good service. Good food in the restaurant. Free ironing of shirts for business guests which was a very good surprise.

Kitchen is good (lovely medium-rare ribeye). Gym needs to be refurbished, I suggest to change the old unmaintained cardio machines

wifi on the place with no password ….. garten in the middle of hotel, Great personal very helpful and completely friendly. Drinks are free very good breakfest. Great connection to the German Highway.

The parking lot is very close to the hotel From the hotel you are quickly in the village of Suhl or on the motorway. I can only recommend the hotel

Nice rooms (the pillows were a bit of a joke: more like medium sized baby duvets), nice food, friendly service. A bit noisy if in a room facing the road (very popular with bikers, which was also why we were there)

Concerning the restaurant: Sadly my order was not listened to. I ordered without cranberry sauce and a salad without dressing, it came with sauces

Free range chickens, ducks, geese, a friendly pig, goats and sheep. Dogs welcome at €10 per dog per night

Other than that the food was alright, a bit salty, but that's often with German food

A great getaway stay for some quiet in the mountain forest. It was full of snow and fog when we stayed there but even then, we could see that it would be beautiful in summer. It's romantic in its rustic way

More than enough storage wardrobe space for belongings and shoes. The rooms also come with a long shared balcony, so I imagine spring and summer, it is really nice staying here

Fewer stars for location because it won't be very accessible to restaurants nearby for elderly/wheelchair-bound visitors

The food and service were rather good for a really acceptable price. The environment in the restaurant is not that nice. Kind of dated and not very nicely decorated.

The stay was fine but there was no fridge in the room and it not even very spacious. Heater was even not working in the middle of the night. Overall, good experience if these things get improve it will be much better

to the entry reception as well there is no doorman so one lifts the bags & goes to the reception to be told the room has been allotted to another wing so you take down the luggage & climb again

a huge property with big rooms & a big toilet/bathroom. very rare to find such spacious hotel rooms & toilets in europe. downside the breakfast place was quite a walking distance from the room

Our room was fantastic (especially the bathroom) and the hotel had all the elements one expects in a spa town (pool, sauna, massage options, wellness treatments etc)

Having done that, we were then told our room was in another building, so we had to retrace our steps and then negotiate further stairs to get into the other building

Our only complaint (and it is significant) is that to get to the lobby you had to carry your suitcase up a significant number of stairs

I hope next year we will stay in this hotel again

This modernised and updated hotel reminds the so-called "good old days" of the Eastern Germany. Very simple rooms with basic facilities, and with possible beautiful views of the surroundings

In general, the stay was successful. The staff speaks little English. There was one incident at a children's attraction. The animator couldn't take control

Parents and grandparents took over and as a result my children were made to cry three times

The hotel is best for your daily hiking trips around the wonderful surroundings. Breakfast, lunch, dinner food is basic and simple, bust sufficient. There is still an atmosphere of disciplined looks and behaviour

Excellent historic location to visit during your Thuringian Forest trip. We enjoyed the food (especially wild pork) and beer very much!

The Hotel is placed in the forest just outside of Ilmenau, Germany, on a private country road. Our initial view of the Hotel was from the side as this is how the road enters the property

There are many hiking trails in the area and the town of Ilmenau is not far away. The only point of criticism: We had appointments for a hot stone massage

After we parked, we walked to the front of the Hotel and saw its magnificent charm. The view from the Hotel toward their private property is a nice view. Statues and interesting places for children to explore and sit

Modern rooms with very comfortable beds. Nice bathrooms with good water pressure. (we were on the top floor) Beautiful classic style building with antique style dining room. Both breakfast and dinner were exquisite

(we did not use their lunch option) Spa is top class, and the swimming pool one of the best I’ve seen. Not very deep but clean natural water. (No chlorine) Area is beautiful for taking hikes and enjoying nature

super nice staff, It was ensured at all times that we were satisfied. The rooms are large and newly renovated the bed is comfortable. The food is good, the breakfast is rich

We were there for a short break, for which the hotel is a very good choice. The staff was friendly, the room (superior) was in good condition and reasonably (though not perfectly) clean

The steam sauna is great but lacks a good scent, We spent 3 wonderful days there and thank the management of the hotel and the staff!

This is a standard German 3-star hotel. Price is moderate, but the room is clean with furniture in good condition. Parking space is abundantly available, breakfast acceptable, free WiFi very fast

Clean, homely, and peaceful. The breakfast was great, plentiful, and diverse. Compared to the price, it was completely worth it.

Other than being in Ilmenau - which isn't quite a hot spot - I can't fault this hotel for anything really. If you need to stay in town overnight, book here and you sure won't regret it

It is very near to bhanhof and is in the city centre. People are also nice and not so much expensive also. Overall looks good. Rooms are big and beautiful.

I have the feeling that as a holidaymaker you are not in such good hands. Business people or fitters leave the house pretty quickly

Excellent location, opposite the train and bus station in Illmenau. Very clean modern hotel. Comfortable rooms, good buffet breakfast and parking. Very friendly helpful staff. Highly recommended.

My single room was big enough and well furnished. The breakfast was up to standard. The cassette is big, but I couldn't test the kitchen, I had already eaten. The service was quick and friendly and the beer was tasty.

The staff is helpful to a fault, the food delicious, even the alternatives of restrictive diets which are all taken into account, and the rooms are a delight to sleep in. The only shock was having to eat dinner at 6p

The facilities are equipped with everything one might need, including oft used foosball and ping pong tables, swings and a trampoline which must have felt lonely in the cold damp weather

I attended a 12-day seminar there with 70+ participants and it never felt crowded or uncomfortable. I had a wonderful time and would happily attend other events in this centre

The conference rooms all have a different design which makes each of them unique, and they are named after historical figures of the Bahá'í faith

Good location (make sure to try dinner as the golden swinger 2 min easy walk) clean room nice service , I arrive very late so key was left in small locked box, excellent breakfest, free Wi-Fi though somewhat slow

This hotel is clean, quiet, and comfortable with good food. It is somewhat dated, but to me that adds to its charm.

They have some sort of dispenser for soap, am not expert in hotels so can't tell if this is common or not but I rather have like in the Munich hotel a personal soap/bar

Great Hotel. Here you can meet the old style of living. The „smell „ of this hotel transport you back with centuries, you can fill the life from now 200 years ago.

Bed was big and nice though myself I would have preferred firmer mattress

This pension has a nice central location. The room was very nice, but there was no WLAN and not a good Heating system on the third floor. Service was super awesome and friendly.

Excellent location in central Meiningen, just a minute or two's walk from the main square in one direction and the Schloss and Theatre Museum in the other direction. Fairly comfortable room with a useful desk

This place is in the centre of the town. We only dined in there twice, so I can't say anything to the rooms but the italian restaurant is great. Great food and very nice relaxed atmosphere

Stayed here a total of 11 weeks over the last few months for work, and this place has been the best hands down. The staff is super friendly, and are English speaking which is amazing

I was accommodated in the beautiful view for 3 nights on business and found a very nice, clean, comfortable and warm room (it was still quite cool outside - travel time in mid-April)

Clean, quiet, large room, competitive price, good breakfast. 2 free parking near the hotel available. City center at walking distance, with several restaurants. Highway close (about 5 mn).

The rooms, the breakfast, the service are all excellent. When on business trip wifi is very important. Wifi is excellent as well.

On the Werra-located small Hotel with short way to the Theater, free Wi-Fi, and the staff are very friendly, have been 4 times to guest and come and enjoy delicious Breakfast with sausage specialties of the Region, and the chief brought the Luggage to the room

Definitely the place to eat in Schmalkalden: food is creative and delicious, the beer selection amazing, great open air courtyard and excellent service. Beautiful

Hotel is nice, clean, check in is in the opposite side of the street in the stadhotel "Partizer", internet is very very bad, if you have your German mobile you can manage with your 4g, but if you are foreigner-would not be suitable, breakfast is fresh a good

A cozy and nice hotel in the middle of the town. Soundproofing is good so outside noises are nicely blocked out. A good amount of space in the room and the room prices are not bad.

Breakfast was a bit expensive at €13 each: selection is very good but we really only wanted cereal and there was no option for a smaller breakfast
