There are lots of hotels much closer to the beach but their pools tend to be much smaller, more cramped.
This is the sort of place I’ll go to if I’m traveling alone as it feels safe.
Rooms are weird.
You hear every sound from above, below and sides and you get waked up by the moving of the heavy chairs (probably from cleaning staff). Very loud.
Also you hear at any time the TUI busses reverse shift noises, which wakes you up as well.
Also got waked up several times by people walking through the hallway after the *Show time* that the hotel offers, which is more for children than for adults, based on the quality they do.
Also the bathroom doors have a big gap so you can listen to everything while being busy.
The beds are very hard and I could not sleep the first 5 days. After requesting a topper, I had to wait over a day to get a simple blanket on the mattress. Had to ask 3x, as they got my room number wrong... competency?
There are also no irons, so I had to walk 7 minutes to the other building to use one of the 2 shared irons. That is really hilarious to go with your whole clothes on a field trip to iron them. Also beach towels are next to this buildings, which you can only pick up at hilarious time Windows.
Room cards are weird.
They stop functioning after a while so we stood 7 times in front of the room without access. I mentioned to the staff that it is not OK and they did not even apologize for the inconvenience.
Staff is weird.
On departure the blond eldery lady (a bit on heavier side) who does the night shifts and speaks German was rude to us. Not friendly. Not a kind goodbye or anything. Not a good impression to leave.
Also weighing your lugage costs 1€ extra?
Pools had too much chlorine and my swim wear bleached from that.
Only thing I liked are the pool sports and dances by the motivated 2 girls and the location on top of the downtown street.
All in all I must say, that this is a low budget hotel with high prices. They try to save every cent at any possible time. Even the water in the reception and breakfast are tap water with chloric. So not drinkable.
The rooms offer nothing, no water bottles, coffee machines, irons etc.
It is like 2 stars at best.
Will never come again, unfortunately.
Grupotel Gran Vista & Spa delivered an overall average stay. On the plus side, the breakfast buffet is plentiful with lots of choice, the front-desk staff were friendly and helpful, and the bed was comfortable.
However, it falls short of 4-star expectations: the property is clearly dated, the room shows its age, and my view unfortunately faced a construction site (or something very similar). It was inconvenient that beach towels can only be collected at the far end of the complex, which meant a long walk each time. I was also surprised that the luggage scale is pay-to-use (1 €) at checkout—not a big amount, but in this category it really should be included.
Bottom line: great breakfast and a kind team, but the aging infrastructure, poor view, and small inconveniences make this 3/5 for me.
Only one downside is I was stung by a wasp when lying on courtyard, but the hotel don’t have any emergent medicine or ointments. Considering there are quite a few wasps around equipping some ointment will be really helpful
Several bits of Gym equipment and most of the spa were faulty. The sauna worked , but the door to it didn’t. The ice cave was not cold . The steam room was just warm ….
