Positives: While the hotel feels dated, tired and in no way deserving of its 5* rating, I found the rooms of a good size and clean, the breakfast buffet was varied and tasty and extremely well run with helpful and friendly staff, the reception staff were also helpful if not overly warm.

Negatives: The near constant bad smell from the bathroom in our room, which ranged from bad to feeling like we had an open and direct pipe to the islands main sewage system. I am not lying when I say we were woken in the early hours of the morning on two occasions due to how bad the smell was. We ended up leaving the extractor fan on and door closed every night but it didn't help much. We reported it to reception multiple times, and they sent maintenance to do something which offered a few hours of reprieve but beyond that did nothing else.

Aging 5-star hotel, well located but with a service not up to par for such an establishment. The bathrooms and swimming pools absolutely need to be refreshed. The buffet food is fresh and varied and the staff in the dining room is very attentive and available, which is a very good point during high season. Two things disappointed me a little bit during my stay. First of all, the lack of cleanliness of the main pool. Unfortunately many tourists have no manners (without going into details) and do not respect the instructions at the pool and this does not seem to bother the staff despite a large number of people circulating in this area. The second point that leaves me a little perplexed is the lack of knowledge of other languages ​​besides German, for any kind of information. My criticisms are not demeaning but constructive, because the island and its inhabitants deserve in my opinion more respect ! The behavior of some who claim that we speak to them in German is unacceptable. Of course, the largest number of tourists come from Germany, but given that I am a respectful person, if I make the effort to speak Spanish because I love this language, I do not accept that I am automatically answered in German, because I am not of German origin and I have no connection with this country ! It would then be preferable to answer non-Germans in English. Tourism has changed a lot in recent years and we find, for example, more and more French-speaking people, even people from Eastern countries; apart from German and English, no one speaks French at reception and this makes communication very complicated for some people. I find this disappointing. The staff must be qualified and multilingual, so please do not answer in German to citizens of other countries. This is inappropriate. Thank you.
