Great hotel near the beach, easy to access anytime
Nice hotel but definitely not a true 5 star hotel, let down by poor gastronomy in its restaurant and 3 star breakfast. Coffee is terrible. Food service overall is not up to standard with both poor quality and poor options available. Staff lacked basic English speaking skills and for a 5 star hotel this is just not good enough. Mini bar in the suite empty, Room service options poor, no room service...
The ladies that checked me in were an absolutel gem. They made me laugh and were highly emotional. To.be honest, it was nice having someone make you smile and laugh.
I would definitely come back again without hesitation.
Such a beautiful hotel!! We absolutely loved our time here. The pools and beach were clean, beautiful and relaxing. The food and drinks by the pool were exactly what we needed at the end of a stressful trip.
Just an ama ing hotel beautiful design , all new , nice bedding pools and location
Beautiful property.
Buffet was a bit disappointing.
But rooms are modern spacious.
Don’t stay on the ground floor as it’s noisy.

A Truly Perfect Stay Made Special by the Staff!
I just returned from a wonderful week at Barceló Cabo de Gata, and we are already dreaming of coming back! The hotel itself is beautiful, with fantastic pools and a stunning location right by the sea. The rooms were comfortable and spotless, and the food was delicious with plenty of variety.
However, what truly made our holiday unforgettable was the...
Following a cancelled flight with EasyJet, we took the "book a hotel room" option. This was just one hotel on the list.
I want to express my sincere gratitude to the hotel staff, especially reception. My son and I arrived tired and flustered.
The reception staff were helpful and our room was lovely.
I found out that I had forgotten my charger, and they quickly found me one behind the desk to borrow...
I had the best experience at this hotel- the layout of the hotel is really nice with lots of pools, pretty rooms and delicious food! I’m really grateful for all of the staff, especially a lovely waitress working in the hotel restaurant called Joccelyn! She went above and beyond to make sure that I was comfortable and had everything I needed, and answered any questions I had about the hotel or Almer...
Laid back beautiful property. While it is summer in the USA, it was not considered summer season in early June while we were there. Low staff and some activities and pools not full hours. The staff that was there was patient, welcoming and very professional. We would come again! Also, the lobby and our room smelled amazing! Some sort of jasmine scent? Whatever it was, it was a very nice scent
Nice for a night or so
Nice hotel friendly staff not much in the way of bars or restaurants in the area but as we were only there for one night it wasn’t an issue.
lovely staff very helpful, beautiful relaxing environment

Was booked in her via EasyJet due to a flight cancellation. Hotel is very clean & rooms spacious with a lovely pool area. We paid €30 for the evening buffet given the limited options around the hotel. The buffet selection was awful with one or two main dishes all of which were lukewarm and had to be heated in the microwave. No butter for rolls. It was truly the worst buffet I have ever been too...
Overall, a solid and family-friendly stay. We were allowed to check in early and use the pool, which was a great start. The Wi-Fi worked well, and the housekeeping staff went beyond just changing sheets—they cleaned the floors thoroughly. The food was quite good, especially for non-meat options, and the staff were responsive when we asked about ingredients or dietary needs.
The pool was clean and...
We chose this over the more expensive sister hotel and it didn’t look the job for a two night stay. Retamar is very much a Spanish resort so the staff didn’t speak much if any English but Google translate got us through. The star of the show was the room, a Junior Suite with an excellent balcony facing the beach. Nice air double room and the hotel kindly put an extra bed in the living room so our two...
On tuesday afternoon our flight was canceled and when we arrived at the hotel, the rooms were already ready. We had a small problem with the room and the young receptionist on that day helped with everything.Even booking a taxi for us the next day. We only stayed one night but the hotel looks good
I loved my stay here! Came for a conference which was just in front of this hotel so very convenient for me, a bit difficult to reach the centre at night, during the day there are a lot of buses. The location on the beach was amazing, breakfast very nice, rooms beautiful and clean. Thank you!
I stayed at the hotel for a night, it was really relaxing and I still regret why I didn’t stay longer! The atmosphere of the hotel was very pleasant and you could escape from the noisy world for a while ! Room : spacious, clean and neat with stunning sea view. Breakfast: divers, fresh , delicious

I came as a guest of Cosentino for a European designer event and decided to stay a few extra days. The large hotel seems fairly new and is located right on the beach which is nice. My room - suite was enormous maybe almost overly so to the point that the very large living room

To be transparent, we just returned from a 2 week stay at this hotel with a group of 28 family members. This is one of two reviews I will leave, because while this one is glowing due to the help of two front desk individuals, the other review will show another side because of two service managers.

Nice hotel. Friendly staff and good amenities and pool! Enjoyed the gym. They had live music in the evenings (stayed Monday- Wednesday) , on site bar and restaurant with good food and loved the comfort of the rooms filled with natural light and a great patio. The breakfast buffet is worth it and amazing! Great for kids and adults. Tons of options🧇🥓☕️🍳🍌🥞
Value for money is good, room was nice with great view. Area is relaxing and not a lot to do. Pool area was great although there is nothing special for kids to do. Also kids pool was closed for some reason. Biggest dissapointment was the FOOD, there is very poor quality. Hopefully they will raise the selection and quality of lunch/dinner. Breakfast was ok. Pizza was the worst we have ever seen and...
We upgraded to a room that opened to the pool area with a fenced in back lounging area and were very happy with it. The kids could come and go easily and we could sit out back in our own space while keeping an eye on them. Beautiful resort with a great breakfast buffet. The pool was quite cold in April (to be expected) but the kids went for it anyway, the waterslide was too irresistible. Enjoyed our...

Booked this late and wanted a stress-free week in the sun. Check in was great, took no time at all. Our room was huge, very spacious with every thing we needed. The beds were so comfortable. This hotel was absolutely wonderful. We stayed for a week and we loved it. I see a lot of reviews complaining about the hotel being Spanish speaking which English people are moaning about. One of the best holidays we’ve had. The staff are absolutely amazing ( in particular David at the pool bar and Tatiana (fifteen at the main bar indoors)). Enormous room with triple aspect views and large flat screen tv. Unfortunately only one chair in the tv area to watch tv. Lovely swimming pool. Unfortunately the dinner was not great. The hotel is in a good location, convenient for travel, and there are many restaurants around. The room is clean and tidy, the bed is comfortable, and the Wi-Fi signal is good. Booked one king size bedroom but got two single ones during the whole stay.
Nice hotel with all the services available, nice little pool to cool off, very welcoming staff speaking several languages.
On the other hand, big effort at the buffet, unsmiling staff does not explain well how the buffet works, in fact I did not even have time to have dessert even though it is a buffet open until 11 p.m. while at 10 p.m. they had put everything away without asking me if I wanted a...
A decent hotel to spend some time in Almeria. However, it's quite far from the city centre and old town.
Wi Fi is ok. AC was working well, too.

No complaints, hotel staff very friendly, rooms spacious beds comfortable (twin beds in room) Bathroom had a shower in the bath, toilet, bidet and sink. Bedroom had a large unit with TV fridge chair & table lots of lamps, plenty of room in wardrobe, full length mirror.
I am happy to recommend
Painfully slow internet! the didn’t fix it despite our complaining. Rooms are big, mediocre decoration and big bathroom. Everything is clean, but somewhat outdated.. breakfast is plenty but looked not fresh always coffee machines are perfect.
The service and people at the reception are very nice and helpful so this is a big plus for the hotel. The reception area is nice and new, and the rooms are decent. They are not new and could use some update, but they are big and clean. What i found exceptional here was the restaurant. Top of the top. We had an amazing dinner.
This is far from a 4 star hotel, the Rooms are old and look very “dusty”. The A/C is crazy, the level 1 fan works like the level 3, I bearly slept. The staff is nice and helpful. The restaurant near door is a really good one.
Excellent service from staff. Lovely room. Very clean. Breakfast great plenty of choice. Will be staying again.
Excellent hotel, centrally based. Car parking is underground on a first come basis. Nearby shopping centre including a huge supermarket. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Didn't have dinner but breakfast was good and plentiful.

Badroom had in 2 places a very little fungus in the corners of the badwindows, but not a problem.

The hotel staff were friendly and everywhere was clean. Our issue was that it advertised that the hotel had air conditioning which was a key factor, especially for me. Rooms are nice but not too modern. Bathroom with a large tub and shower, however, bc the water pressure was but that great ☹️(even though the shower heads were small plate sized with massage functions and stuff). Visited Almeria for 3 days. The location perfect to see the sights and walk to the beach. The room was a good size and perfectly clean. The bed was large and comfortable. Air conditioning in the room was perfect very little sound and always a nice temperature. The staff were all very friendly and breakfast was excellent. We couldn't fault this hotel.
Nice hotel between the beach and the city. Fantastic breakfast buffet. Great helpful staff who can speak English. My only complaints would be that the beds are a bit hard and there are no balconies. The only outside common area is also a public access path from the train/bus stations.
It was an OK stay. Nicely located, near the bus station, with plenty of stores and restaurants nearby. It was clean, the staff was helpful and nice. Wi-Fi is okay and the room was spacious. But the floor of the room was squeaky, and the walls are super thin, so you won't get a decent night of sleep. Also, the TV is super slow and the bed covers are strange... They don't provide a lot of amenities aside...
Nice hotel in the city centre, breakfast average, kind of slim walls between rooms - everything can be heard. And if you are unlucky, like me, your window viewshed goes to next rooms windows, in the distance of three meters ?
Excellent hotel in the city centre and close to the station. Friendly attentive staff. Good amenities in the rooms. Good range of bar snacks and restaurant meals.

Everything was great, good service, and there's always someone at reception. I didn't try the food, so I don't know how it was. The only drawback I can find is that there's a sign in the elevator that says there are vending machines on the first floor, but when I went, there weren't any. Overall, everything was perfect.
Good basic hotel, with a lift and vending machine. Great location. Loads of cafes and bars for breakfast. Tapas bars and traditional Spanish eateries in the Old Town.
Warm hotel, the front desk is very enthusiastic, thank you for your help
Facilities: OK
Cleanliness: Good
Environment: Convenient
Good basic hotel in the centre of town. Rooms are clean and shampoo/ soap is provided. Reception is friendly and helpful as well as manned 24 hrs.
Parking is a bit tricky but I was always able to find a free space if you look in the residential area between hotel and plaza de toros. Except Friday nights when they limit parking for the market next day. In that case you can use the underground parking...

Great location and looks great. Modern and clean. Pool area is small, but no issue with beds and the pool was perfect. Breakfast good. Rooms nice, I felt they could have been decorated more and a wall mirror would have been appreciated. That said, a great room with balcony.
We didn't fly until late evening and there was nowhere, other than the hotel WC to change...no shower facility, which wasn't great...
Lovely hotel, seems a mix of business and pleasure. Very tastefully decorated and comfortable, well staffed, great choice at breakfast. Small pool, nice for a dip after sightseeing all day. Central to all sights.
Happy to be back and the hotel looks wonderful, fresh ,spacious and light after the renovations. My group was very happy with the rooms and the location . Breakfast is a favourite with options for everyone and having an egg station is amazing, also freshly squeezed orange juice !
Lovely to see some familiar faces too , all the staff both front and back off house do a marvellous job ! Thank you to Paula...
A great hotel. Really good value 👏 views across the harbour are wonderful and the pool was fab. Very nice staff too.
The hotel had just been refurbished so few snagging problems which didn't spoil our stay. Very helpful friendly staff. Would have been nice to have seats on the balcony and extra pillows. Breakfast not really worth the extra €14.00, a few nearby cafés were really good.
Was a bit sceptical after reading some reviews but we just finished our holiday after the renovations and it was great! Everything was new and clean. The hotel is very close to the center. The room is very clean and quite large. The staff is very friendly.
Good but not perfect.
Very well positioned hotel and quite comfortable but a few improvements needed. The noisy air conditioner and lack of sockets by the bed let it down.
We were so lucky! This is an amazing hotel, very comfortable, clean, and well located. Walking distance to all the attractions we didn’t have to move the car. The staff were kind, helpful, and very nice. The room was very spacious and the breakfast was good. I really recommend it.
Lovely room and super shower. However hotel advertised as having air conditioning. Room far too hot, and asked about it and told not available until the summer but room over 25 degrees in March 24, which led to a very hot night, and poor sleep. Suggest Air Conditioning on *********** should state (high season only).

This property exceeded our expectations as far as the staff, the room, and the VIEW! We would definitely return. We took advantage of the ancient baths and massage option. I would skip the massage. Even when I asked for more pressure, it felt like someone was just gently rubbing way too much oil all over me. No massage involved unfortunately.

Beautiful old hotel
I enjoyed my stay but I almost rated the hotel a 4 due to internet service came and went. The room was a mini suite and had lots of room. I had the ability to have doors open to square although under construction. I did like how they used an old building and made it comfortable.

Hi there, this is a great hotel but its miles from anywhere. You cant walk on the main road there are no pavements and it is dangerous. Its manily spanish there , while we stayed there for ten nights met only one english couple.
I would give them higher score, if not the fact that the hotel allows you to smoke literally everywhere. Assuming it's family oriented hotel, has plenty of kids and people that actually not smoking, would be nice to designate some areas for smoking and ban some in all. It's just unbearable at times.
Food is good, not so much choice but we have not left the restaurant once being hungry. If you stay...
My issue with this hotel is the lack of no-smoking areas as in none what so ever, and being a non smoker I don't understand why I have to be forced to sit with smokers whilst enjoying the entertainment outside and have to inhale the cigarette smoke.
Other then that I can't really fault this place.
Food is good
Staff are pleasant
Clean
And staff are very attentive
2 pools which are kept clean constantly...
The view is utterly resplendent; second to none. The rooms are relatively luxurious and there is also a small private beach by the hotel. None the less, I feel that the rooms are not capacious enough and perhaps the service could be improved slightly.

The hotel is in a great location just outside San Jose but easily reached on foot. The building has been extended, but this is in keeping with the original house. A must for fans of spaghetti westerns!

Nice hotel with a warm southern vibe, very friendly staff, plentiful breakfast, and a clean pool area. Only downsides are that it's not the most convenient location to get to the beach on foot, and the shower quality and water pressure could be improved.

The terrace around the pool is excellent, and the pool was perfect. The Sky bar provides stunning views over San Jose. The whole...
Great Staff, excellent location, good breakfast and good pool
Breakfast varied options and until 11am.
Beds super comfortable.
Quiet at night apart from when there is live music on the rooftop bar.
Front line beach and walking distance to everything.
Free street parking.
What a nice gem of a hotel. I would definitely come back
We stayed two nights at this hotel and we were pleased with it. I think the poor reviews came from before it was closed and reopened. I read somewhere that they reopened. The location is great, right on the beach. The room was very clean and the bathroom was large, clean, spacious vanity to put all your things, and good water pressure in the shower. The air conditioner worked GREAT (this can...

Super hotel! Free sauna and inside parking spots. Amazing view and spacious rooms.
Nice apartment hotel on the hill overlooking San José,basic clean functional rooms and a nice relaxed atmosphere,we stayed towards the end of September so not to busy anywhere, definitely like to return.
Great views, nice staff, clean rooms and facilities - fair prices!
Great apartment, especially good to stay more than a week, with all apliances and needed tools to cook, wash clothes...

Perfect room location, practically in front of San Jose beach, close to the port and restaurants. The room is new and clean. Rosa was also fantastic from booking to leaving the room.
The only flaw is that in 5 days there was no change of towels and sheets
We love it, on the first line, close to everything. The apartment is very clean, very charmingly decorated and Rosa is a charm.
Highly recommended.
The accommodation is literally 10 steps from the beach of San José, one of the most beautiful towns (for my taste in the Cabo de Gata area), Rosa was super friendly with us, being available for any questions that arose and making recommendations about what to visit in the area and where to eat. Thank you
The accommodation was impeccable, with everything you need to spend an incredible stay. It accepts pets and is in a wonderful environment. Thank you Rosa for treating us with so much dedication and affection 😊
We were a couple of weeks ago, we would definitely share, the apartment is amazing! First line of the beach, next to the port, super new, very nicely decorated, nothing is missing! Except a cutting board... Hehehe the girl (Rosa) a charm! The upstairs apartments have a very large terrace with a 3+2 suite and even a shower in case you want to sunbathe and cool off, a real blast!

Loved - The sea view from the modern apartment was spectacular at all times of the day and night. The orange sunrise is a must-see. The bathroom with bidet was well equipped and towels were supplied daily. The kitchenette was tiny and not much cookware but the staff were quick to supply anything I asked for and I managed to cook for the 2 of us. Nice AC for cooling and warming the place, TV played...
Our favourite hotel. Great room with sea view and terrace. Mini kitchen. Air conditioning and ceiling fan. Lounge area with sofa. Great value for money. This is our fourth visit. Lovely staff.
Best view if you are facing the sea, you don't feel like wasting a second even if you stay in the room, if you drink coffee on the balcony, you can enjoy the embodiment of Spanish rural architecture, with patches of green and an enormous emerald sea ♥️
We have a house in the hills in Spain and wanted a few days away by the coast but didn't want to spend too much money. Booked this hotel and we were both very pleased with it, room was spacious and very clean. Had cooking facilities if you needed them. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great cafe below for very cheap breakfasts coffees fresh orange juice. Great area everything in walking distance...
The Aparthotel is well situated in a quiet area and near to the beach. Our apartment, which had a balcony with sea view, was comfortable and clean, although the kitchen was rather small. I found the reception staff friendly and obliging and we were able to park in the street behind the aparthotel.
I'm basically a permanent guest and can't give a bad review here. This time the water in the bathtub was dark in color. The reason is installation work. Unfortunately the bars on the beach were also closed. This time I only ordered large coffees in the hotel bar.

The good: food great. Pools very nice and some good entertainment.
The bad: TV awful, no WiFi in rooms, cockroach nests under the toilets by the pool area. You had to jump over the nest to get to the toilets! Aaggghhh.. lifts rubbish 2 or 3 out of order and long queues.
Still a decent place, regardless of the bad.
The Hotel is beautifully situated. The rooms are spacious and clean. Reception give you a wonderful welcome. Staff very professional and nothing is too much trouble. Just one minor problem on the last day not all lifts working and delays going to and from breakfast.Cannot wait to return. Originally booked 3 days but extended our stay to 5 days.
TLDR: great family budget hotel very close to the beach
This large budget family hotel, has basic amenities and is located on the beach front. The rooms have great views and have usable facilities.
There are a selection of pools, and activities available throughout the day.
We visited in early October, and were 1 of 3 English parties staying.
The food is freshly prepared at each meal time and the...
Nice hotel, clean rooms. We decided to take the option of all inclusive but on reflection this was not a good idea. It clearly stated that cocktails were included.... Not true! Apparently there is one cocktail on offer only! Also the bar staff did not really seem interested in all inclusive guests

Plus for: Very nice hotel hotel with nice and service minded staff. Good food and near the beach. Many activity to small Children.
We had the loveliest stay here, Rosa on reception was a dream and did everything she could to accommodate our needs. For a 4 star hotel the staff was are amazing, some parts of the hotel are a little outdated, however that did not make a difference to how much we enjoyed our holiday. All inclusive option was very well priced, plenty of options for everyone at meal times. Kids pool and slides were great...
This was the second year in a row we have stayed at this hotel. we did look to try something different this year but in the end decided as we enjoyed last year so much we would book again. This is very much a spanish hotel there were a few other btitish while we were there but mostly its spanish guests, so the entertainment it all in spanish, our 5 year old didnt seem to bother too much though he played...
FANTASTIC AUGUST 2025 HOLIDAY A beautiful location close to Almeria and a 2 hour drive from Malaga, we rented a car with enterprise that was problem free. We went with our 3 daughters all under 10 and had an amazing holiday. We had a cowboy themed family room which was fun as lots of westerns have been filmed in the area due to the landscape. 2 bathrooms, two double beds side by side and a double...
Our 1st day here & so far we are enjoying it so much. I mentioned at reception that we were here to celebrate my husband’s birthday & few hours later a bottle of bubbly was delivered to our room. So unexpected but yet so thoughtful. My husband loved it! I didn’t get the receptionist name but he was German and an absolute gem! He upgraded us to a sea view room which is extremely beautiful. Food is not...
The room was on the first floor, and the lobby was on the fourth floor. The room was of a decent size, and the main thing was that it had a balcony with a pull-out rope for drying clothes, which was great. The sea view was right when you opened the window.
