Great hotel near the beach, easy to access anytime
Nice hotel but definitely not a true 5 star hotel, let down by poor gastronomy in its restaurant and 3 star breakfast. Coffee is terrible. Food service overall is not up to standard with both poor quality and poor options available. Staff lacked basic English speaking skills and for a 5 star hotel this is just not good enough. Mini bar in the suite empty, Room service options poor, no room service...
The ladies that checked me in were an absolutel gem. They made me laugh and were highly emotional. To.be honest, it was nice having someone make you smile and laugh. I would definitely come back again without hesitation.
Such a beautiful hotel!! We absolutely loved our time here. The pools and beach were clean, beautiful and relaxing. The food and drinks by the pool were exactly what we needed at the end of a stressful trip.
Just an ama ing hotel beautiful design , all new , nice bedding pools and location
Beautiful property. Buffet was a bit disappointing. But rooms are modern spacious. Don’t stay on the ground floor as it’s noisy.

Very nice place, lovely beach area. We appreciated the hotel garden. The breakfast was fantastic. We spent an unforgatable time time here, although we stoped for only one night.
We stayed in Barcelo Cabo Dr Gata for a week after an Andalusia tour. The hotel is located in a small town very close to Almeria airport (we could watch the airport and plane traffic from our hotel balcony). The town can be reached by car or by public bus (which costs 1.5 €). The area is rather quiet, you can reach the beach via ~5 minute walk. The beach is a rocky one, like most beaches in this region...
Really enjoyed the holiday at the hotel, the staff all seamed to understand my poor attempts at speaking Spanish and the service was very good. At times the choices at meal times were slightly limited but there was always something which I liked. The hotel is mainly full of Spanish guests which I enjoyed.
The primary factors that bothered me consisted of the fact that food options for lunch were very limited with the snack bar charging unreasonable amounts but the rice restaurant had a bit more variety with Paella, fish, and burger. Additionally, there was a lot of friction between going from the hotel to the sea. Other than that, the environment was very welcoming and evenings were filled with brilliant...
Very stylish hotel, clean, peaceful, a stone throw away from the beach, had a massive choice on their breakfast buffet. Had a sea facing room, which was a long long walk from the reception and dining areas.
Very nice hotel located near the bus stop (where you can take the bus and make shopping in Almeria). In my opinion the hotel truly deserves for the fifth star because of delicious cusine.

Was booked in her via EasyJet due to a flight cancellation. Hotel is very clean & rooms spacious with a lovely pool area. We paid €30 for the evening buffet given the limited options around the hotel. The buffet selection was awful with one or two main dishes all of which were lukewarm and had to be heated in the microwave. No butter for rolls. It was truly the worst buffet I have ever been too...
We chose this over the more expensive sister hotel and it didn’t look the job for a two night stay. Retamar is very much a Spanish resort so the staff didn’t speak much if any English but Google translate got us through. The star of the show was the room, a Junior Suite with an excellent balcony facing the beach. Nice air double room and the hotel kindly put an extra bed in the living room so our two...
I stayed at the hotel for a night, it was really relaxing and I still regret why I didn’t stay longer! The atmosphere of the hotel was very pleasant and you could escape from the noisy world for a while ! Room : spacious, clean and neat with stunning sea view. Breakfast: divers, fresh , delicious
Bright, sorry hotel The hotel has a very interesting architectural design which makes it bright and feel spacious. The staff were very helpful. Even though there were not many people staying at the hotel ( October) the bar stayed open until late and the barman was very friendly and helpful. The only complaint would be that the shower was not brilliant and some woodwork around the doors in the room...
My family has pretty high standards when it comes to hotels and I was afraid that this would be a little bit below them. But we absolutely loved it. Great hotel, great area great services we like to get out and explore and it was perfect for that, but it also seems to be an ideal place for people who just want to go on vacation and not even leave the hotel. We will definitely be going back.
Great resort to just hang around for days. Great buffet restaurant for all meals. Great pools including young children. Loved the Tiki bar. Watched Spain vs France in Eurocup which was awesome. Room was spacious for family of four

I came as a guest of Cosentino for a European designer event and decided to stay a few extra days. The large hotel seems fairly new and is located right on the beach which is nice. My room - suite was enormous maybe almost overly so to the point that the very large living room Seems a bit empty as if the designers had not known what to do with all the space. However the rest was tasteful and modern...
To be transparent, we just returned from a 2 week stay at this hotel with a group of 28 family members. This is one of two reviews I will leave, because while this one is glowing due to the help of two front desk individuals, the other review will show another side because of two service managers. 1. Rooms were great except for the translucent 'box' shower sitting in the open mere feet from one of...
Nice hotel. Friendly staff and good amenities and pool! Enjoyed the gym. They had live music in the evenings (stayed Monday- Wednesday) , on site bar and restaurant with good food and loved the comfort of the rooms filled with natural light and a great patio. The breakfast buffet is worth it and amazing! Great for kids and adults. Tons of options🧇🥓☕️🍳🍌🥞
Value for money is good, room was nice with great view. Area is relaxing and not a lot to do. Pool area was great although there is nothing special for kids to do. Also kids pool was closed for some reason. Biggest dissapointment was the FOOD, there is very poor quality. Hopefully they will raise the selection and quality of lunch/dinner. Breakfast was ok. Pizza was the worst we have ever seen and...
We upgraded to a room that opened to the pool area with a fenced in back lounging area and were very happy with it. The kids could come and go easily and we could sit out back in our own space while keeping an eye on them. Beautiful resort with a great breakfast buffet. The pool was quite cold in April (to be expected) but the kids went for it anyway, the waterslide was too irresistible. Enjoyed our...

Booked this late and wanted a stress-free week in the sun. Check in was great, took no time at all. Our room was huge, very spacious with every thing we needed. The beds were so comfortable. Just returned from othel cabogata after a wonderful stay. We had a lovely room, cleaned daily, crisp white bedding. This hotel was absolutely wonderful. We stayed for a week and we loved it. I see a lot of reviews complaining about the hotel being Spanish speaking which English people are moaning about. Yes the entertainment is...
One of the best holidays we’ve had. The staff are absolutely amazing ( in particular David at the pool bar and Tatiana (fifteen at the main bar indoors)). Most of the staff can speak a little English, with one or two being very good. This is not an issue as it’s easy enough to learn a little Spanish to help. The food in the restaurant was excellent. Nice and clean. Friendly staff. Great for an overnight stay. Food in restaurant very good
Old fashioned hotel, but impressed with the bedroom for the price, it was large, very clean, comfortable bed, bath & shower, large mirror. I got a great sleep here. Outside there was a beer & tapas tent, the guy cooking the fish had such dirty hands, & nails, i didn't have any food, which then put me off eating from the restaurant also. Enormous room with triple aspect views and large flat screen tv. Unfortunately only one chair in the tv area to watch tv. Lovely swimming pool. Unfortunately the dinner was not great. The hotel is in a good location, convenient for travel, and there are many restaurants around. The room is clean and tidy, the bed is comfortable, and the Wi-Fi signal is good. The staff is very friendly and the check-in and check-out are efficient. The breakfast is rich in variety and tastes good. The overall cost-effectiveness is very high, recommended to stay!
Booked one king size bedroom but got two single ones during the whole stay.
Nice hotel with all the services available, nice little pool to cool off, very welcoming staff speaking several languages. On the other hand, big effort at the buffet, unsmiling staff does not explain well how the buffet works, in fact I did not even have time to have dessert even though it is a buffet open until 11 p.m. while at 10 p.m. they had put everything away without asking me if I wanted a...
A decent hotel to spend some time in Almeria. However, it's quite far from the city centre and old town. Wi Fi is ok. AC was working well, too. There's a small pool, so it's better to come early, not later than 11 am. There's no gym unfortunately. The breakfast was the same during my week of stay, so at the end it was disappointing.

Spectacular stay, 100% recomended, the staff is amazing and super attentive. I even accidentally dropped my gold ring during breakfast and they saved it for me at the front desk. Very honest and attentive staff… they are the best!
Stayed 22nd February. Reception staff staff were friendly & very helpful wirh information on local places ir directions. Nice hotel with parking, located at the top of the Avenida del Mediterraneo, a little far from the center but convenient for a stopover on the way to the highway and next to a large shopping center. The bedding is very comfortable, The staff is very friendly. No tea, coffee, infusion in the rooms, which would be a plus.
We think it's a good value for money hotel, so we'll go back if we get the chance. One observation, which we think is very important, and we'll make a note of it. Once you've checked in, THE HOTEL ITSELF sends you an email with the menu and cafeteria prices, but they're totally out of date and the worst thing is that when you let them know, they tell you that they already know... To give an example...

Excellent hotel, centrally based. Car parking is underground on a first come basis. Nearby shopping centre including a huge supermarket. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Didn't have dinner but breakfast was good and plentiful.
The hotel is trying to be more modern and fashion with the graphics and pictures across the building but you will find old furnitures in the rooms. Perfect for few nights as the rooms are big and comfortable. Be aware the breakfast does not have too many options and there are mosquitos everywhere
The room was very clean and tidy and the bed was very comfortable.
Luxurious coffee and a generous breakfast, the staff is helpful and friendly. The hotel has a great location near the shopping center/beach. Free parking is available around the hotel. The room is spacious and clean. Downside: Poor Wi-Fi, and room 109 has a strong smell of cigarettes.
This is the best place we have stayed in Almeria! We needed somewhere local to stay as my mum was in hospital... Staff were very friendly and helpful, both reception and breakfast staff. Reception staff went above and beyond to accommodate us. Rooms were spacious and spotlessly clean, cleaned every day, and the whole hotel was very clean also. Breakfast was excellent. Good choice of hot & cold foods...

Everything was great, very nice and clean. I loved it.
The hotel staff were friendly and everywhere was clean. Our issue was that it advertised that the hotel had air conditioning which was a key factor, especially for me. Room: comfortable bed, had tv, fridge, sofa, desk chair, wardrobe, mirror. Bathroom includes a bidet, a bath with shower attachment, hairdryer. We had a warm welcome and served a drink even though the bar was closed. Would recommend.
It is well located, and you can park well, the room is very comfortable.
The lady at the counter was very nice and welcoming. She tried her best to check us in in english even though she's not profound in the language. She did great! Prices are affordable for what is delivered. We've been there with our dog and he even got his own bed and bowl in our room! Room was clean, the bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was good. We can recommend the hotel 👍
The hotel looks stunning, clean and the staff is friendly. Their rooms for 3 people are quite cramped though and lack a small balcony. Located at a 30 minute walk from the centre of Almería, there is plenty of good places to eat around this hotel. Breakfast was well presented, clean, diverse and overall very tasty.

Rooms are nice but not too modern. Bathroom with a large tub and shower, however, bc the water pressure was but that great ☹️(even though the shower heads were small plate sized with massage functions and stuff). Visited Almeria for 3 days. The location perfect to see the sights and walk to the beach. The room was a good size and perfectly clean. The bed was large and comfortable. Air conditioning in the room was perfect very little sound and always a nice temperature. The staff were all very friendly and breakfast was excellent. We couldn't fault this hotel.
Nice hotel between the beach and the city. Fantastic breakfast buffet. Great helpful staff who can speak English. My only complaints would be that the beds are a bit hard and there are no balconies. The only outside common area is also a public access path from the train/bus stations.
It was an OK stay. Nicely located, near the bus station, with plenty of stores and restaurants nearby. It was clean, the staff was helpful and nice. Wi-Fi is okay and the room was spacious. But the floor of the room was squeaky, and the walls are super thin, so you won't get a decent night of sleep. Also, the TV is super slow and the bed covers are strange... They don't provide a lot of amenities aside...
Nice hotel in the city centre, breakfast average, kind of slim walls between rooms - everything can be heard. And if you are unlucky, like me, your window viewshed goes to next rooms windows, in the distance of three meters ?

The location of the hotel was good for the price paid. The staff were friendly, professional and very helpful especially Ingrid. The room was basic and dated but that was reflected in the price.Thank you for being pet friendly.
Staff were very friendly, flexible and most hospitable. Thanks to all the great staff!👍 For these people I would give a 5 ⭐. Breakfast was basic but nice. Everything was great, good service, and there's always someone at reception. I didn't try the food, so I don't know how it was. The hotel is very close to the center. The room is very clean and quite large. The staff is very friendly.
Good but not perfect. Very well positioned hotel and quite comfortable but a few improvements needed. The noisy air conditioner and lack of sockets by the bed let it down.
We were so lucky! This is an amazing hotel, very comfortable, clean, and well located. Walking distance to all the attractions we didn’t have to move the car. The staff were kind, helpful, and very nice. The room was very spacious and the breakfast was good. I really recommend it.
Lovely room and super shower. However hotel advertised as having air conditioning. Room far too hot, and asked about it and told not available until the summer but room over 25 degrees in March 24, which led to a very hot night, and poor sleep. Suggest Air Conditioning on *********** should state (high season only).
Excellent location. Very close to cathedral, Alcazaba and others iconic places. Dinning options, bars, terraces, shopping areas. I didn’t use my car at all. The hotel is simple. It's well located. I really liked the breakfast (bread with tomato and ham was a plus), and the service was very good, both from the coffee maker and at reception. I especially appreciated the 1.5-liter bottle of water they gave me upon arrival and the small refrigerator in the room. The only negatives I found were that the walls are made of plasterboard, so you can hear everything...
A few steps from the center. The city doesn't seem to celebrate Ferragosto.
In the center, tapas areas 7 minutes away. Areas of cultural interest 13 minutes. It has parking in a nearby parking lot (difficult to park in the area). Buffet breakfast is worth it. Friendly reception staff. Clean room and new bathroom.
Nice little hotel in the city center. The staff is very friendly and helpful, rooms have fridges, safes, hairdryers. It was more than I expected from a 2 star hotel, we enjoyed the stay.
Tiny bathroom and certain details (in room) in need of repair/updating, but clean, comfortable, central, friendly staff: good value for money. And no supplement for pets!
The rooms were okay but the bathroom was not it. The shower looked so poor and I didn't enjoy showering, neither did my family. But for the hotelprice it was fine. The guy at the reception was very kind and helped us with everything. So after all, I give it 3 stars.

Beds were very comfy and a really good shower Nice and clean Breakfast was more than okay but not fantastic - juice, bread and cold meats selection was lovely. The hot choice not so good Hotel staff friendly and helpful The only disappointment was the bar that was attached to the hotel - they just didn’t seem to want our custom
Great hotel in the old part of Almeria, classy rooms and bathrooms, convenient parking nearby. A bit noisy by the opposite construction site.
Room very small with no view. Bed and bedding excellent. Little noisy bring with you ear plugs.
Lovely hotel with very spacious rooms, just a short walk from the castle etc.
The hotel is a good pick, if you lower your expectations. I wouldn't call this a 4 star hotel. With this hotel you should set your expectations to a 3 star hotel. The personnel is very helpful and kind and the location is great. But the rooms are noisy and the beds are uncomfortable. The rooms also lack standard 4-star hotel amenities such as a kettle or coffee machine. Breakfast is decent. Bewaren...
It was located in the historic center of the city and near the main avenues and restaurants so everything was within walking distance.

Check in was with the sister hotel across the road. My main gripe was that the bathroom door wouldn't shut, due to the carpet/tile connector thing. It would never have shut. Goodness knows why this isnt a known problem. The reason for shuttingbthe door was to keep the street noise out.
Excellent clean and tidy hotel. Daughter left her purse in the room on check out. Purse was returned with everything intact by the hotel staff. Very good service and excellent caring staff. Breakfast in the downstairs eatery was also good.
Excellent Excellent stay, room very spacious and clean only thing missing for me was coffee making facilities in the room
Incredible value, location, and helpful staff. Would stay every time
Professional hotel Purpose built hotel not a conversion. Good elevator. Nice location. Near good bus stops.

This is a fantastic and cute little hotel. I really like that the rooms look exactly like in the pictures so no one is disappointed upon arrival!!! The staff are very nice and they let us checked in earlier. They also gave us useful tips about where to eat, what to see and do. Highly recommended!
By the time I depart, I will have stayed three nights in the second floor suite, I kept extending my stay I enjoyed it so much. This review pertains only to the suite- as I have not seen the other rooms. It is spacious, and beautiful. The bathroom is gigantic, clearly meant to feel luxurious. There is a stunning courtyard in the center of the hotel with plants, a pool, and a cabana area where guests...
Stylish and unique hotel in a great location!
Recommended very nice. Immaculately kept with very comfortable beds. Adult only hotel very well positioned close to the castle and a short walk to the shops etc.
This is probably one of the friendliest and best maintained small hotels I have ever seen. Very highly recommended!
This is a recently opened hotel with wonderful hosts. Every attention has been paid to the details of the decoration of the rooms. The small Arabic-style courtyard is delightful and peaceful. The terrace on the roof with small plunge pool and seating area is an added bonus. Breakfast is lovely and the hosts are very attentive, although at 12€ per person it could perhaps be a couple of euros cheaper...

Once we maneuvered the near city streets we arrived to the front, there is a small area to stop a car for a few minutes, but parking was down the street. The was the only negative I could say. The staff was amazing, professional, friendly and helpful to us American travels not used to the local standards. We had the junior suite which was huge, and the bed was very comfortable. The whole hotel was...
Beautiful location. Didn't stay in the hoyell but had an evening on roof terrace. Nice ambience. Gorgeous view of the cathedral. The only down side was extremely limited on drinks menu. Wecwill return this summer. Perfect fir a relaxing eve with friends or family
Well appointed hotel literally right next to the Cathedral. It's a short walk to the Alcazaba fortress. The rest of Almeria is a bit further away but there's a minibus stop nearby that takes you on a figure of eight route past most of the sights. We had what was described as a junior suite room. It was an enormous room with a bed at one end and a lounge area with settee and two armchairs at the...
Pleasant place Everything was great. Situated right next to the Cathedral in center. Parking was a problem but there was a garage close. Roof bar was great overlooking the Cathedral and square lots of great restaurants nearby.
Amazing Hotel. Amazing Staff. Very friendly. Will definitely come back!!
Lovely hotel in centre of old town Almeria Beautiful hotel right in the centre of Almeria. Room was lovely, tastefully decorated and the bed very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent and the staff all very welcoming. I was only 1 night for business but enjoyed my stay.
