Barcelo Cabo de Gata

Really enjoyed the holiday at the hotel, the staff all seamed to understand my poor attempts at speaking Spanish and the service was very good.
At times the choices at meal times were slightly limited but there was always something which I liked. The hotel is mainly full of Spanish guests which I enjoyed.

Very nice place, lovely beach area. We appreciated the hotel garden. The breakfast was fantastic. We spent an unforgatable time time here, although we stoped for only one night.

We stayed in Barcelo Cabo Dr Gata for a week after an Andalusia tour. The hotel is located in a small town very close to Almeria airport (we could watch the airport and plane traffic from our hotel balcony). The town can be reached by car or by public bus (which costs 1.5 €). The area is rather quiet, you can reach the beach via ~5 minute walk. The beach is a rocky one, like most beaches in this region in Spain, so bear that in mind. I would rate the quality of hotel room and services as very high. The room was spacious, bathroom has both bath (albeit without a plug due to water saving regulations) and a shower. There were multiple power outlets in the room, thanks to the hotel being recently built. The room also had a small refrigerator, TV and AC. A balcony was attached to the room, with a small table, two chairs and a foldable rack for wet swimming wear and towels. We could look at the airport and the sea from the balcony.
There are 4 pools in the hotel area, one of them is suitable for swimming exercises, it also is deeper in certain areas (depth of 1.55-1.7 m). Other pools are smaller are shallower. Aqua aerobic exercises were organised often (possibly daily) in one of the smaller pools.
The hotel restaurant was also larger than most I've seen so far and there was a larger choice of dishes available in buffets. Dinners are rotated on a weekly basis, I was able to find something tasty or delicious every day, even if the day's theme didn't align with me very well. There's also a barbeque just outside the main restaurant, where you can pick up some grilled fish or meats (or toasts and eggs in the morning). Orange juice squeezer was available to use in the morning, it was very popular, but the queues weren't very long and juice was delicious and refreshing. Dinner desserts were rather lackluster, it was relatively difficult to find something worth eating. We were also disappointed on Andalusia themed dinner, as tiny Sangria was served as a welcome drink in front of the restaurant, but could not be ordered to the table.
Overall I really enjoyed the stay in Barcelo. If we'll ever end up near Almeria again, I'll definitely consider staying there again.

The primary factors that bothered me consisted of the fact that food options for lunch were very limited with the snack bar charging unreasonable amounts but the rice restaurant had a bit more variety with Paella, fish, and burger. Additionally, there was a lot of friction between going from the hotel to the sea. Other than that, the environment was very welcoming and evenings were filled with brilliant activities.

It's in a lovely position. Rooms are clean and staff are really friendly.

Very stylish hotel, clean, peaceful, a stone throw away from the beach, had a massive choice on their breakfast buffet.

Had a sea facing room, which was a long long walk from the reception and dining areas.

Very nice hotel located near the bus stop (where you can take the bus and make shopping in Almeria). In my opinion the hotel truly deserves for the fifth star because of delicious cusine.

This is a beautiful hotel with a magnificent service, great view and top location. Peace, relax and enjoy the Mediterranean sun.

Very good restaurant to have a special dinner and some drinks next to the sea. Food was quite fresh and very well cooked, wine and beer were from beat trademarks and almost iced, and the service was pretty good always behind you to solve all your questions. It's the best hotel for summer because it's placed in the natural park "Cabo de gata/nijar ". I recommend this hotel for sure. I also know that one friend got married and he celebrated it in this hotel and he has a good point of view and good memories about it.
