Barceló Cabo de Gata Hotel

Came for a meeting that the hotel provided rooms for at the conference center across the street. half the rooms in the hotel likely were booked for this. on the last day, the meeting ended at noon. i asked for a few extra minutes to check out and was refused even 15 minutes extra. the beach is far away, there are few good restaurants nearby, and the power goes out regularly in the rooms the 2 days i was there. no idea why this hotel is highly rated.

The Hotel itself is nice and clean and the beds are quite comfortable. However, there are quite a lot of negative points regarding entertainment, food quality, food choices and bar services.
This is our family experience during our recent stay at the Hotel. At check in, we were told that due to our premium room choice we were offered a free of charge mini bar which would be topped up daily. To our surprised it wasn’t. They replenished all drinks and chocolate bar consumed from the fridge but forgotten everything else that was out of it, including dirty coffee mugs snacks and coffe capsules. We also did not get clean pool towels during the stay.
Out of all services offered, the night club wasn't available at all and the only entertainment we had Friday and Saturday nights were (acrobats and a stand up comedy and both were rather boring.)
Lunch service is a complete nightmare between 2 and 3pm and there’s only one chef inside the main buffet area making the daily protein choices for all guests and I was even served an uncooked chicken. Bottled beers are offered as well as draft but not cold at all. There are QR codes around sunbeds offering pool services but it was never available and after 7pm the only bar choice is the one at the lobby. Ridiculous! One positive thing? A covered car park with limited spaces and the arrozante restaurant offers a nice and comfortable space for breakfast.
