Ohtels Cabogata

Nice clean hotel and friendly staff, very quiet area, need to get a bus into the city as there's only a few tapas bars down the road and some on the plaza across the road from the hotel.

The hotel staff are excellent, as is the food, rooms, pools, fast WiFi and amenities. There is a lovely children's play area in the shade. And a nice Spa with excellent treatments.

We stayed at Ohtels Cabogata in July 2024 on an all-inclusive Jet2 package.

Very quick and easy transfer from Almería airport. All staff friendly and helpful (and patient with us when we spoke Spanish).

Plenty of sunbeds, not reservable, very sensibly and politely used. Regular games and activities in the pool, and outside entertainment until midnight. Games room well furnished. Good range of drinks at the indoor bar (3pm onwards) and pool bar (from 11am). Pool bar snacks freshly made.

Children's splash zone is closed during the hottest parts of the day but eminently suitable for younger (say up to 11/12) children while parents relax on the sunbeds.

We booked a half day in the basement spa. It's modelled on ancient Roman baths so there's a "circuit" of hot and cold showers, saunas and caverns. Also had a very relaxing couples' massage.

We read reviews ahead of time and deliberately chose this hotel as it is popular with Spanish guests. If you are Brits you need to factor this in and make sure you plan your siesta and a later dinner! A lovely pace.

Staying here at the moment. Suites are huge. Balcony on small side. Views over golf course and mountains. Having a lovely time. It is very busy at weekends but we havnt had any issues getting sunbeds by the pool. It's the first hotel I've stayed in for a while where people don't put towels on sun beds and then don't use them although this may be different in high season. Food has been fine and staff friendly.

Only been here two days so far. Location great. Nice pool area. Small gym but sufficient. Bar area is comfortable but small. Staff pleasant and helpful. Generally food and drink good but neither the chicken nor potato croquettes at lunch today were cooked properly.

4 stars review for a 4 stars hotel. The staff was very very kind. The meals were good. The walls room a bit thin and I could clearly here our neighbour. The adult swimming pool is not depth at all (170 cms the deepest(. Maybe I missed some more depth ...but in general the hotel is fine. I would reapeat if I had the chance.

This hotel is managed by the most loveliest staff ever who work so hard! It’s clearly a Spanish focused hotel but cater towards English speaking very very well. It’s brilliant for families with a lot of entertainment throughout the day and evening (10-12am). Rooms are spotless. Food is delicious. Drinks are great. The perfect holiday in a gorgeous area of Almeria! Thank you so much for my boyfriend and mine first holiday :)!!!

Myself and my family went here for a weeks half board holiday, we read all the reviews before we went and were thinking that maybe we had made a mistake because a lot of the reviews were negative about both the staff and food, we had nothing to be concerned about. We arrived late in the evening on the first day, about 2150 Spanish time, we got checked in quickly and told that the restaurant was open till 2230, we quickly dumped our bags and went down to get some food, when we went down there was still plenty of choice, even at that late hour, they were still serving the grill and the buffet was still being replenished regularly, the food itself was good, always plenty to choose from and generally very tasty. The staff were always friendly and helpful and really great with our two children, 7 & 10, our children, who generally don’t like many people, loved all the staff and the staff always seemed to have plenty of time for them, it was lovely.

The hotel itself was always very clean and tidy, our room was cleaned daily and not once did we need for anything, the pool looks little on the pictures but when you’re there it’s a great size and depth, it’s also a salt water pool, this sounds like a small thing but to not have that chlorine smell and feel on you all week is really nice ! Overall it’s a lovely hotel.

As mentioned above we were only half board, giving us breakfast and evening meal, but we were offered the option swap one of our meal for lunch any day we liked, all week if the fancy took us, but we stuck with the breakfast and evening meal option. There are theme nights on at least 3 of the 7 nights we were there, which was brilliant, and every night it was different food, not just the same food served night after night as some places can be. Breakfast was always the same but breakfast is breakfast, there was always fresh cooked omelettes and pancakes on offer, cooked while you wait, which my wife and eldest took up every morning, a selection of cereal, fruits, breads, all sorts, as well as fresh juices and coffee. In the evening before dinner, we would head to the bar for a drink, always cheap and the staff always friendly. Meal times are late by English standards, breakfast is 0800 - 1100am and evening was 2000 - 2230, but we never found this to be an issue once.

The hotel is very Spanish and a vast majority of its clientele is from the surrounding area, this was great, all the people were friendly, made a few friends while I was there, and even though that is the case, 90% of the staff have brilliant English.

Overall, the hotel and staff were amazing, despite what some reviews might say, and we are all going to be going back at some point in the future and can’t wait !
