Le Boutik Hotel in Annecy

Received a text explaining check in which did not involve a human. Room looked great so all seemed good. Mine was a 2 night stay. Unfortunately on day 2 the room was not attended to: bed not made; rubbish not emptied; towels not refreshed. When I raised this on check-out, the response was 'I'll look into that'. Absolutely no benefit to me who was moving on. I asked if they might waive the breakfast charge under the circumstances. "No" was their response. Breakfast at 20 euros was exceedingly expensive for what was available and it was self service though coffee had to be requested multiple times. Reception was at Le Boutik shop next door and was only open shop hours so no one to assist or deal with issues in a timely manner. Location was great. Service not so.

I was very disappointed as I had to cancel my trip 2 days before the date of reservation and was charged anyway. I recommend not to book direct. Cancellation policy is not communicated well and less flexible than with booking platform for the same public price.

Firstly, positives. Central location and friendly staff. Sadly that’s it. Remember when reading we paid E522 for 2 nights and left after one. This is style over substance. Reception closes at 5pm. You enter rooms through a separate door with a key code. Your room key is a plastic electronics key that works sporadically and even staff struggled to get them to work. Room ok but why no bed side tables both sides? No mirror at all other than bathroom and a few trendy small circular ones for decoration. Pillows hard as you like and uncomfortable. Curtains thin and so light flooded in from 5am. Also on main road so noisy all night. Jug of water and 2 cups in room but not refreshed next day just left where we left them. Nowhere to store your clothes other than a few hangers. Breakfast shuts at 10am. We arrived 9am to be told only 2 small croissants left as other guests had eaten them all!! Cheese and ham had flies on them and wanted E18 each!! Went out. I’m all for trendy decor - rusty bikes funky lights uncomfortable chairs etc- but get the basics right. You can’t park their either so public parking only. I’m sure they will get better but I’d be careful here as in a competitive market this is not where it needs to be sadly.

We have booked the hotel 2 month ago mentioning in the comment field that we have a little dog with us. In the guidelies we have received with the booking confirmation nothing was mentioned about pets. Free cancellation would have been possible until 48h before arrival. A day before arrival a lady called us saying that no pets are allowed. We have received another email and there suddenly the text about pets appears. Obviously a refunding was not possible. We never had such an unhelpful person in a hotel. She was not interested in finding a solution eg. finding an alternative. In addition we continously received their automated mails like welcome, thanks for visiting and feedback. Highly unprofessional and not at all what you would expect from a boutik hotel. We have just noticed a similar feedback some time ago. So it’s not for the first time…
