Novotel Centre Ville

As a diamond Accor member I was surprised to find that the welcome drink was limited to one drink, rather than a drink for everyone in the room. Having stayed at hundreds of Accor properties with my family, we see this as a core benefit, and this hotel is one of the only I have come across to not give a welcome drink per person. The staff explained it was at the hotel discretion, which I understand, but it is also at the hotel discretion to see that I am the highest tier of loyalty, and their direct competitor (Novotel Saint Jean down the street) gives a drink per person. This hotel policy significantly reduced the value for money that we get as a diamond member and I would choose to not stay here next time because of this.

In terms of the hotel, I struggled to see what I was paying for between the Ibis and Ibis budget next door and the Novotel. I thought that the Novotel would be a better hotel as it is four stars, but I struggled to see that this was the case. The room did not have a functioning air conditioning system - it kept flickering on and off and never actually booted up to provide air. This meant that the window had to be opened to get any air circulation through. As the hotel is on a busy road, this was not ideal as the traffic noise was loud and we could smell fumes. There was also no refrigerator in the room, despite there being a space for it, which meant that we were not able to chill any drinks or have milk with our coffee in the morning. There is also no hair conditioner in the bathroom, which should be a standard provision for a four star hotel.

Overall, I would choose to save the money and stay at the Ibis next door next time as I think it would be a very similar experience for a much less cost!
