Reviews
Absolutely loved staying at this hotel, right opposite the Wine museum and close to the tram. A bit away from city centre but easy 30 min walk/20 min tram.
Highly recommend staying here and would like to commend the front desk staff who were so helpful and friendly.
Cherry on top was the adorable anniversary surprise we got in our room :)
Cons-Bed was SO soft (it was so soft I almost gave a 3 star), AC was worse than another hotel in Paris that was a lower star, the room service was limited (not what is expected for a 4 star property), and the bar had limited hours.
Cons:
1 - seating downstairs on the sand, don't sit there during the evenings as the critters come out of the sand and you get bitten like mad
2 - went to the pool, and there is an outdoor terrace. we were told we could not sit there until after 5pm, then when we came out at 5pm, only to be told we can't sit there after 5pm..?? apparently, you cannot come out from the pool doors but have to go through the bar entrance, which is next door.. even though it's just one terrace.. we managed to stay but was told we couldn't sit in our swimming costumes and had to be covered up completely, top and bottom - which is fair enough (us and a few others that had come out from pool entrance). we went to put clothes on and came back outside. I understood the rules as who wants to see us half naked.. but then just 2 mins after we had put our clothes on, a couple came in from the bar entrance, woman had swim suit on and a see through shirt, no bottoms and main waiter guy who told us we had to be covered was happily chatting to them as they seemed like friends.. surely this is not on..? can't be having one rule for some and another rule for others...?? that kinda pissed me off..
then we were told we couldn't leave our table and come back to it after 10 mins, so friend and I had to take turns to run up to our room to get changed properly..
3 - cafe is really slow.. not sure what they are doing behind the counter.. as I didn't see them being overly busy tending to people or making drinks, but for some reason, takes donkey years to be served..
Pros:
1 - hotel was lovely, decor and facilities
2 - staff are really friendly (most of them..) and we got our room upgraded free of charge
3 - Having a pool made all the difference in such hot weather
4 - there is a food market just outside of the lift entrance and is there is some amazing food there
5 - wine museum is next door
All in all, hotel is def worth staying in. It's further out from central area so it's quieter - that could be a pro or con, depending what you prefer.. and most of the staff are super friendly and helpful - just that one waiter who seemed to have double standards..
One notable inconvenience occurred the following morning when we were awakened by loud drilling noises. Upon contacting reception, we were informed that no construction or maintenance had been scheduled. Upon check-out, we discovered that the noise originated from the ground-floor garden atrium where wooden booths were being constructed.
Overall, our stay was pleasant apart from the blackout incident and the disruptive drilling noise at 10 AM, which unfortunately lacked appropriate follow-up and acknowledgment from the hotel staff.
On check-in I requested 11:30 check-in and got in a bit early at 10:30. They said they'd call me when it was available. Walked over at noon to ask whether there was any availability yet - room was ready but they hadn't called. Staying at this hotel is not a good choice. There aren't any Marriott in city center, but despite being a loyal Marriott customer last 10 years I won't ever stay here again visiting Bordeaux.
Pick somewhere better, with decent restaurants nearby since you'll be inconvenienced staying here.
