Hôtel La Zoologie in Bordeaux

We stayed for three nights and found the staff and hotel excellent. Service at the front desk was second to none. Very helpful with directions and suggestions for restaurants and activities around Bordeaux.

We had an amazing stay at zoologie!!

The room was tidy and clean, atmosphere modern and charming with historic stone walls, super tall ceilings and a gorgeous zoologie decor. The renovation of the room is nice and the bathroom is really well integrated in the design.


About the amenities, unfortunately the gym was not accessible due to renovation. This would have been nice to know before booking. However, the bar and restaurant as well as common area was really nice.

What we really loved, was the heartwarming care and helpfulness of the staff. Already at the check-in, the staff member helped guide around the city and took care of our belongings while we went out (we arrived before check in was possible).
It was my girlfriend’s birthday and when we came back to the hotel and got our room, as we entered, there was a small gift and most thoughtful of all, a handwritten birthday card, by Jules. This kind of attention and care for guests, is rarely found anymore, and it meant the world to my girlfriend.

So thanks for a really nice stay, a memorable place and first and foremost the best, most kind, attention I’ve experienced in years.

Family stay
Trendy hotel. Good air on during heatwave. Bus stop outside, station a little down the road but away from centre. Early check in is good value. Good bakery next door for breakfast

A well located hotel, only a 10 minute walk from the train station. Lovely staff. More interesting than the usual chain hotels. Funky rooms with comfortable beds. Would stay again.

Fascinating in a good way!
Fascinating and a little quirky, but in a good way. A former Natural History University building, remodelled with many references to its history. Well placed for the station and city transport and close to the Capucine Market - a must-see on your tour.

Nice hotel in Bordeaux. I recently enjoyed my stay at Hotel La Zoologie and I was very happy with my stay. The location was a little out of the way, but as someone traveling by train and likes to walk, it ended up being the exact right location for me! The staff were professional, knowledgeable and helpful! The room was clean, comfortable and much larger than I expected. I came in the office season and enjoyed six nights here - originally was scheduled for 4; however, the Hotel recommended a BWine Tour (deserves its' own review!) and that day far exceed my expectations that I wanted to see more of Bordeaux and extended my stay.

Great value. Interesting architecture and room design. Lovely, friendly staff and great facilities. Personally found the pillows in the bed a little uncomfortable in the morning, but that’s a personal preference as I often struggle with pillows. The included spa in the room was a real treat. Would recommend to friends and come again if in Bordeaux.

We took a break from our French house hunting and spent a couple of days in Bordeaux. To choose the hotel, I trawled through lots of recommendations and La Zoologie came up. We were not disappointed . . although we were there for only one night, the hotel lived up to all the positive stuff written about it. The clever use of a former scientific building made the room we stayed in (15) outstanding. A very high ceiling and a completely mirrored wall, plus a glass walled shower in the bedroom area meant, you have to be comfortable with your own body image . . I just didn't look.
The bed is Emperor sized and is one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in.
Unfortunately, we were so keen to see Bordeaux, we didn't use the restaurant, so I can't advise on that, but the menu did look scrummy.
The reception staff (24/7) and the bar staff are exceptionally helpful and above all, interested in their clientele. Well done guys ! Thank you for a lovely, all too short stay.
I will definitely be back . . if I'm allowed.

We had a wonderful experience at La Zoologie. The reception team was friendly and helpful with our rooms, luggage, recommendations and bike hire. They took care of everything we needed with a smile!

The rooms were very clean and comfortable. We appreciated the fun design with high ceilings and nice amenities.

We enjoyed the restaurant for both breakfast and lunch and the spa had a hot tub that we appreciated after our cycling trip. We easily walked to the city center and enjoyed restaurants nearby. We’d very happily return to Hotel Zoologie!
