Villefranche-sur-Saone, 96 Avenue de la Libération 🧭 Map
It's clean, warm and OK. It's a city short stay hotel no frills but not that bad. Rooms are small, and shower is a bit weak, but overall go stay so far. Location right in the heart of city, so although no restaurant, several outside within 500m, including takeaways.
Comfy stay with efficient and friendly welcome. One star dropped because:
=>Missed breakfast one day due to limited opening time (partly my fault admittedly)
=>Left early to airport there was no-one on reception or no obvious suggestion to leave card (e.g. express checkout box)

Stayed here on a journey home from my ski holiday. Very nice hotel with nice staff, decor, breakfast served, and comfortable bedrooms.
Very nice stay. Friendly staff, clean rooms, central location, lots of restaurants and pubs next to it. Great stop going down south or coming back north.
Very friendly, English speaking staff. Everyone we talked to made us feel very welcome. The bed was comfortable, and the hotel is in a very good state of repair. Very handy if you need close access to motorways, and parking is free.
Great location hotel - good parking and excellent quality hotel - rooms very comfortable - Best Western Plus hotel so their elite hotels - great value

Ideal location in down-town, friendly staff. Parking a bit difficult, garage narrow and not suitable for modern cars. Room quite small but with good bed, modern TV and fast Wifi. Bathroom extremely small and shower with air-leaky window = extremely cold in winter. Breakfast lower avg.
Small, but comfy hotel in the middle of the city. Luckily I came on a weekend, so that the parking on the streets nearby was free; otherwise it would have been an expensive stay.
Cheap. Not so cheerful. Wasn't particularly clean. Very well located though. Right in the city centre and less than 10 minutes walk from train station

Correct price / quality balance.
Campanile is Campanile. Always clean, good service, ideal for a one night stop over on the way.
Great place for an overnight stop on the way to the Alps. Rooms are clean but a bit tired, the food is great and so is the welcome.
This hotel is screaming for a make-over.... very drepressing to see. Although the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was not clean. Breakfast oké but simple.

I love the old style French buildings.
Even close to the street you couldn't hear the traffic.
The rooms were clean.
Small swimming poor and SPA.
Staff very much accommodating.
There is only one menu option. No food was served in the evening on Saturday 🙁. ?
After driving from London we were disappointed to have to drive again in Order to get dinner. Otherwise a lovely stop over, lovely vineyards, fabulous room, warm and comfortable very stylish.
It would have earned 5 stars if it wasn't for the terrible construction which causes screaming loudl creaking floorboards whenever guests on top floor do as much as tip toe through their room. Avoid room 7. All they offered for compensation was to deduct a coffee from dinner.

Good food, nice service, good recommendation for a nice local bottle of wine. Super comfortable bed. Very very quiet, despite the fact that hotel is next to v busy road (triple-glazing).
Yes it is a beautiful hotel & stayed for 2 nights. Sadly the lighting isn't very bright in our room at night, although maybe most people liked that. Also, on our first day, we had noticed spiders (not many), when my granddaughter was going to have a bath. We mentioned it to the Receptionist & immediately given us another room, a lot better. The flooring in both bedrooms had slight stains but had been...
It stays a very good hotel (we come here for severals years, for stays of one night on our way to Spain) with an outstanding restaurant . Only a shame that this time the airco in the room did not function. We had to sleep with open window...and next to the train and a very busy road this was not optimal...
The staff were wonderful and so helpful, but the room had so many problems. The extractor fan in the toilet would not work, the air conditioning/heating would not turn on, the WiFi kept on dropping out and finally the electrical socket was hanging out of the wall. Unfortunately nothing seemed to be able to be done to rectify situation. Hopefully the hotel can correct this situation shortly, along with...

Our family enjoyed our stay thanks to Eva, Cindy and Morgane.

Not bad place when you only need to sleep. Only the blankets look like they were last time washed at least 5years ago
The only reason that we don't come back are the beds. Give us a call if you have softer beds, and we will be back.
Even better, let people chose the hardness of the beds, just a suggestion. Don't know if that's possible, but that would be great :)
Value for money we have stayed here on our stop from Calais to the south many times and look forward to our buffet and wine a good nights sleep easy parking and breakfast.
always pleasant staff.
So easy off and back on the motorway.
Yes stayed tres fantastic -FROM IRELAND ,the three members of staff that i spoke to at the hotel in villefranche. (half hour from Lyon).EXELLENT
I don't speak french, I needed a place to stay -some help with language and travel information, certainly equals anywhere in the world. BRILLIANT
Service was excellent and the price was very reasonable. The rooms could do with a deep cleaning, however. All in all it was acceptable for a budget accommodation.

Slightly odd location tucked away behind security fencing. Extraordinary dinner, spectacular menu, good wine list and great service from Marie.
We did not stay in the hotel as we live nearby. We enjoyed a delicious lunch with friends today. Excellent service, beautiful decor and cuisine of a very high standard! We will be back and look forward to the spring when we can enjoy the lovely terrace.
A wonderful place.
We've found parking right outside the restaurant.
The place is warm and inviting to stay at, and well designed.
The menu is very clear to English speakers, and we found easily the dishes.
The plates has been served with no rush, with a replacement of the forks & knifes.
After the dinner we had also a good cup of espresso.
The bill has been served in the reception (its a part of a...
Gorgeous residence with particular stylish cusine, rooms, or more like suites, were comfortable, spacious and sweet. A real experience.
This hotel is a real find though, you cannot believe how, so close to a motorway or in the middle of an industrial estate you can find such tranquillity. We did not find it easily but as a point of reference for others it is behind and to the right of the Campagnile. The room was clean comfortable and had a bath room with a separate toilet. The bath was large and comfortable. The bed was excellent...

perfect location for a short stay especially for people travelling across to the east of France or Alpes, very clean rooms and excellent mattresses, easy parking and late check in available
The outside may give the wrong impression about this hotel, the rooms are modern and well working if simple. Staff is friendly and the downstairs restaurant is nice, especially the patio in the summer.
Good for one nigth sleep. Room looks clean. bathroom looks clean but the bathroom floor theres a foot mark and the towel is super dry and hard it will leave scratches on your skin.

Little hotel above an Irish pub. We were there only 1 night but had a great time. Friendly reception. Simple rooms but with everything you need. We could freshen up, have dinner with a beer in the pub. Have a good night sleep and continue our journey after a nice breakfast.

It's an Irish pub and a hotel. The pub has been soundproofed so you won't hear it bustling from your room above. The rooms are small, and face an internal courtyard from which you can hear the building's air conditioning machines. We had a good night's sleep thanks to our earplugs and a comfy bed. Very friendly staff. Overall a very unassuming place, but with more character and conviviality than a...
Lovely bar, super friendly service, good pub food. Did not spend the night but my friends who did were very satisfied.
Budget hotel that provides everything you need. The bed was comfortable & the water was hot. Reception was quick & friendly. There is a bar underneath but no noise issues. The stairs to the accommodation floors is very tight, so not advisable if you have mobility problems.. Also we could hear movement in all the other rooms, when the bathroom was used you knew about it. In our case at 06:30hrs,, the...
Very nice and helpful staff. The room was right at the top of a narrow spiral staircase but staff offered to carry the luggage up for us. Very good sound insulation and the room was good for the price.

We did enjoy our stay here. Mainly because it was a heatwave in Lyon and spending two nights here beats being in our hot apartment with no AC. Though they could do with some improvements.
Positives:
Rooms were cool but not cold and very spacious.
My toddler loved the pool and they had a baby pool area.
I always love a gym so that was a plus There was free babysitting service.
Negatives:
Not much...
Great place with comfortable rooms and amazing pools.
Was the perfect stop over on the way to the South of France.
It’s made clear that if you don’t book the spa access the pools are not included so there should be no surprises on that.
Biggest City SPA in Europe. It has an Olympic sized outdoor pool. Food is very good. Breakfast is great. Balconies are humongous. Very good rooms and bathrooms. WiFi is not working in the rooms only downstairs I don’t know why. There is a nice hairdresser inside the hotel. If you have children there is a very good kids club in the SPA areas. You can also play squash and table tennis there. We had an...

Booked a night there for the Light Festival in Lyon. Wasn’t disappointed at all. The room was quite large and there was even a small balcony which I believe can be nice to enjoy the view and warm weather in the summer. I only had a business dinner at ZUCCA Restaurant of Marriott Hotel Cité International, but it was an outstanding experience. The dinner was exquisite, perfectly paired with excellent wine, and the dessert was both delicate and delicious. The waiters were exceptionally kind, professional, and attentive. Highly recommended!
The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The room/ bathroom is big enough but the cleaning could have been a whole lot better unfortunately. It's not giving the 4-star vibes you're paying for. Last night there were incredibly noisy party people next to us and a lot of guests had complained apparently. We were told at the reception that they were aware of the noise and they said sorry for the inconvenience...
The staff here is wonderful and I really wanted to like this hotel…. Unfortunately this hotel desperately needs a renovation…..which is scheduled for next year. Rooms dated and in poor condition. Despite Lyon being the gastronomy capital of the world, the food and bar offerings here will disappoint. Looking forward to seeing their improvement in the future.
The check in staff were top tier, amazing. The location is right beside a bus line with easy access to the train and city center.
The hotel needs an update. Peeling paint on the ceiling, rusty looking shower floors, walls peeling out badly patched, in general needing a refresh. We were there for the Olympics and a few of the soccer teams were there so at times there was no access to parts of the hotel...
This is my favorite hotel in Lyon. Clean, modern, no hassles, and the breakfast buffet is perfect!

Nice hotel room, staff friendly, and place was clean. The air-conditioning could have gotten colder but that's just France. They also could invest in exhaust fan for the bathroom.
Third time here. Receptionist tried out his English, which was nice, but it needs a little work. But full marks for trying (I don't expect people in France to speak English.)

We had an excellent stay at this hotel. Staff is very helpful, relax and super friendly. The hotel restaurant offers delicious food at great price value. The park the la tete d'or is within walking distance and offers some nice activities - in particular when travelling with small kids.
The hotel is located next to park area and with direct bus access to the city centre. There is a play area in the ground floor for kids, and gym available in the hotel. A star was taken as air conditioning was not functioning properly.
Excellent customer service!! The hotel went out of its way to accommodate my special request. Much appreciated. Very clean room, and the room service food was delicious and service was prompt.
And, I love the little thoughtful touches in the room (eg space in mini bar for personal use, chocolates on my bed, aromatherapy to help with sleep).

My favourite hotel in Lyon for my business trips there; although it's not always within the cost ceiling of our corporate travel policy. The only drawback is that the baths/showers are on the small side. The thing I like most is that the rooms are elegantly French & not identikit international.
One of my favourite hotels n Lyon. Not in the buzz of the city center, but close enough to be there in some minutes walk. Huge apartments, nicely equipped and very good beds! Simply I love this place!
Stayed in a deluxe suite which was huge and included many amenities that I hadn't expected for the price I paid. Hotels has lots of parking nearby and is a close walk to an excellent park in Lyon. This stay was well worth it, I would recommend staying at the Warwick Reine Astrid in Lyon.
Excellent value for money great place to stay but if you want to visit Lyon steer clear on Sundays and Mondays, very few places to eat and the Paul Bocuse market is woefully lacking on these days. Our room had a shower over the bath which you couldn’t get under rendering it useless as a shower. Also there was no ‘rubber’ strip under the shower screen so the floor got soaked.
