Hotel des Congrès

Summary: a nice hotel to stay, with bad access/location for the price.

On the 2nd night: Woke up at 00:21 and spent more than an hour bcs of a very bad smell from fire-smoke outside. Met other guests from 3rd and 2nd floor complaining the same problem. A local said it was bcs of fire made by unhoused people to keep their body warm. Reception/security was looking for the fire source but didn‘t find anything. The most annoying part is that they can‘t turn on the fan or offer a portable fan at least to make a fresh air flows. The Staff asked to move that night but it was too much to move our stuffs at 2am. The next day we ask to move to the 5th floor (the highest), bcs it was offered by the Night-Shift Staff but this other Staff hesitant that it'll solve the problem. By the time we go outside, we immediately see the smoke coming out from the abandoned "shorcut" – see more explanation at the bottom – Only after showing him video of the smoke facing right towards our rooms, this Staff gave us new room.

Found other person talking the same in the Google review-section here: smoke-problem in the review section. Make sure you went through the worst comment before deciding to stay. We stayed 3nights, and the 2nd night was a nightmare.

Location is confusing due to terraces and underpass. A shortcut is available but it is very shady: lamp turns on when someone walks in but there's lots of broken bottles, building materials from renovation, dirty. Suggestion: please do something with the "shortcut" as this is the crux of the problem.

Not happy with this hotel, poor quality / price. Restaurant that is not good for a high price and poor service. People at the hotel were nice but the overall quality/facility needs complete reshcuffling. the coordinationb etween events team and reception is poor. Not an experience I want to live again.

Be careful that you don’t get a room in which construction works are close because the hotel is in rooms renovation. The reception very rude when you ask for a reduction when you are wake up due to the noise of the drills and hammer at 8 am. Indeed they do not even apologize or inform to you about the works and pf course there is no reduction. I do not recomend this hotel . You can’t trust on this hotel management. Ahhh and today the cofee machine in the breakfast was broken…

Avoid this hotel!

My laptop was stolen while staying at this hotel. It was in my room laying on the desk, after returning from dinner it was missing. As the doors lock automatically, I cannot explain how it was stolen besides from someone with access to the room. I filed a report for theft at the police the next morning. The hotel staff generally seemed not to be really concerned about this and did not seem to take the issue serious. The hotel manager only got back to me after reporting to the police, although I requested to speak to him before.

In general, the hotel does not have any security cameras or other security measures, despite being located in a somewhat sketchy neighbourhood (I saw a car with broken windows near the hotel). The second entrance of the hotel, leading to the hotel bar, can be accessed by anyone who is just ringing the bell.

In summary, this was the worst hotel experience I had by far.

No idea who is rating this hotel 5 stars. If you're walking from the tram or bus you have to use a seedy tunnel or walk on the road - the entrance that might make this better is permanently locked. Then the rooms, air conditioning doesn't work, no fans, had to hold the shower head because nowhere to hang it up, WiFi unusable. Decor looks unchanged from when the hotel was built in the 70s. On the plus side, if you need drugs there's a couple of dealers using the car park. Breakfast staff work hard though.
