Reviews
One point to note: the requirement for men to wear speedos (no swim shorts allowed) can be a bit frustrating — understandable for spa hygiene, but less so for the outdoor pool.
That said, I’ve stayed here twice and would absolutely come back again. Highly recommended.
1/ Weak Wi-Fi: Their Wi-Fi has been poor for years, and nothing has been done to improve it.
2/ The restaurant is closed on Sundays: an absurdity in a 4-star hotel!!
My wife, my cat, and I stayed at Hôtel Lyon Métropole for my birthday and loved it. The hotel decorated our room beautifully, and it looked even better than the photos online. Staff were very friendly and helped us park when the garage was full. The sauna and pool area was super clean and relaxing. We’ll definitely come back when we’re in Lyon!
If I could give this place zero stars, I would. This hotel is an absolute disaster when it comes to handling money, and they clearly have no respect for their guests.
I booked a stay here and was told I would pay upon arrival – sounds simple, right? Well, think again. Before I even set foot in the hotel, they tried to charge my card multiple times! I keep my credit card locked while traveling to avoid fraudulent charges. So when my card was declined they took it upon themselves to cancel my reservation without notice. I was in the middle of skiing with my friends when all of a sudden i realized my upcoming stay had been canceled even though it clearly says that "no prepayment necessary, pay at property upon arrival" So I had to stop what I was doing to rebook my reservation and i went ahead and paid the pre authorization they were requesting. Then, when I arrived, they told me I would only then be charged for the price of my stay which obviously I was fine with, however then then once again charged my card for half the cost of my stay without my consent on top of the cost of the stay. As if that wasn’t enough, they then demanded an additional €200 for “incidentals,” which I would have been fine with IF they hadn’t also gone ahead and charged the other half of my stay on top of it all! Long story short, I am now out more than €600 for a stay that was supposed to cost €225
So, to recap: they took half the payment BEFORE I arrived, double-charged me once I got there, and insisted on incidental charge on top of that which they did eventually agree to not charge me for (only good part of my experience with them... they did all thisl while looking me dead in the eye as if I was the one who didn’t understand basic math. Their attitude was insulting, dismissive, and completely unprofessional.
THIS PLACE IS A SCAM, plain and simple. Save yourself the headache, the outrageous charges, and the condescending staff. Don’t make the same mistake I did – stay faaar away from this hotel! BTW. The area sucks and there's no bars, or restaurants in the vicinity. You're basically stuck far out away from anything that would be considered as convenience to the guest. If you plan to go anywhere to eat, drink, shop be prepared to pay hefty taxi / Uber fees to get to a desirable location. UPDATE!! DO BE PREPARED TO WAKE UP AT THE CRACK OF DAWN WITH THE SUN BLAZING THROUGH YOUR WINDOW DIRECTLY INTO YOUR FACE AS THERE ARE NO SUN CURTAINS WHATSOEVER. I booked this hotel to come and relax, sleep in and use the spa after a week of skiing and music fest however I was woken up bright and early this morning with the sun DIRECTLY in my face. I was literally getting sunburned while laying in bed because it was so bright and shining directly in my room. I even had to get ready while wearing my sunglasses!! Absolutely ridiculous. I have stayed in hundreds of hotels / airbnbs all around the world and never seen anything like this before. Please do yourself a favor and find somewhere else to stay.
I had high expectations for Hôtel Lyon Métropole by Arteloge, but unfortunately, my stay was quite disappointing.
First, the reception staff was arrogant and unwelcoming. A friendly smile and a warm welcome make a big difference, but that was missing here.
The room felt outdated and lacked proper ventilation. No air conditioning, windows couldn’t be opened, and there was no fresh air. The bathroom was old-fashioned, with a shower curtain (who still uses those in a hotel of this standard?), and you had to shower in the bathtub, which was extremely slippery with no anti-slip mat. Even the hairdryer seemed like it belonged in another decade. The bedding was very thin, making it uncomfortable at night.
Breakfast was another disappointment. The dining area felt cold and uninviting. The buffet was basic, with juices from a carton instead of fresh options. In France, you expect delicious, fresh croissants and baguettes, but even that was missing—just reheated factory-made pastries. To make things worse, the TV was blaring the news at full volume in the breakfast room. A soft, relaxing background music would have been much more appropriate for the morning atmosphere.
The only positive aspect was the parking garage, which cost €11 per day. At least the car was safe.
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. There are much better options in Lyon for this price €190.
Positives:
Rooms were cool but not cold and very spacious.
My toddler loved the pool and they had a baby pool area.
I always love a gym so that was a plus There was free babysitting service.
Negatives:
Not much info was given at reception of where things are. Service wasn’t terrible but expected better for what we paid.
Men, to use the pool you MUST have speedos on (or shorts with the same length and tightness) and board shorts (what I wore) aren’t allowed. Otherwise, you’ll have to buy a pair from them for €25. I wore my wife’s bike shorts as they were proper length and fit.
Babysitting service was bad. Both my wife and I peaked in a couple of times separately and 3/4 times, the young babysitter was on her phone with her feet on the table and didn’t seem to care for kids.
Other than a nice Italian restaurant and a small fruit shop, everything else would be a 30 min walk. A water filter would’ve been nice on each floor.
Overall we did have a great time because my daughter loved the pools and it was temperature throughout the building during a heatwave was very pleasant.
I would have rated it 5/5 but when considering the price we paid I couldn’t.
