Golden Sun Resort & Spa - Adults Only in Kalamakion

Location is okay but that’s about all it’s got going for it. Rooms are dated and run down, noisy fuse box and really loud fridge. We stayed here as part of a group of 25 people and 75% of the group had issues with their room whether it be noise or stinking drains for the people on the ground floor. Bar staff are really good but other staff are rude and don’t accommodate anything. Cleaners from early morning shouting over the balconies to each other. On top of this the hotel needs a good clean, especially the pool area which is dirty and overcrowded which also means everyone fighting to find sun loungers. There is another.part of the hotel where you pay to use a sun lounger which is worth doing due to the state of the pool area although you lose your all inclusive when you go in this area which doesn’t bother me but if you enjoy a beer etc it could become an expensive day. The staff have told us that we can just turn up and use the spa and sun loungers on the day and they can’t book them in advance yet we turn up the next morning to find that they are fully reserved for the day even though you’re told there’s no way to reserve. Breakfast only runs until 9:30 which is fine to stop serving and fully understand this but we were eating breakfast this morning and they just turned the lights off in the restaurant bang on 9:30. I understand not taking any new people in from 9:30 but to just turn the lights off when people are still eating is a joke. Honest review is that I’ve stayed in some bad hotels in my time but I’ve never wanted to go home after day 1 until I got here. Stay somewhere else if you’re thinking of booking. The worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in!

The hotel is clean, well-maintained, and visually appealing. Most of the staff were friendly and welcoming, which we appreciated. However, there are a few areas that could be improved.

Housekeeping starts quite early, around 7 a.m., and can be noisy — with loud conversations, doors closing heavily, and occasional items dropped. On one occasion, our room was entered despite the “Please, don’t disturb” sign, which was a bit uncomfortable.

The food selection was limited, with the same dishes served daily and little variety. The quality could be improved to make the dining experience more enjoyable.

Additionally, guests should be aware that due to the hotel’s location, airplane noise can be heard quite often.

Overall, the hotel offers cleanliness and a pleasant appearance, but improvements in noise management and food variety would make the stay much more comfortable.

Very conveniently located close to the airport if your flight is cancelled at midnight and your airline has to put you up last minute. As always, the staff were pleasant and helpful, but not much else one can say on a positive note. Didn't need our alarm as the first flights into the airport fly right past the window from 6am, so we were on time for an early breakfast. I guess they have to keep everyone inside for eating, due to aircraft noise, but made it feel more like a motorway services than a greek holiday resort.
For a lads week away, close to a beach and the strip, fine, but not for family or couples get away.
