Reviews
The 4 stars are seen above all by the elegance that you receive
Great location at the end of the main pedestrian walking street and opposite the Rocco Paolina. Hotel has amazing views, very friendly breakfast staff, attentive concierges who take the car to and from the garage efficiently. Rooms nice. Bed very comfortable. Stayed in room 234.
Cons:
Breakfast offering was pretty good but some of the 'hot food' was cold by 8am so not very desirable. Shower over bath and it's a tall bath, so lucky I have long legs. Short people or the elderly stand no chance of climbing into bath. The hotel is quite dated and needs to be renovated but it is still nice.
However, as guests of the Perugia International Music Festival, young Steinway artists and their families, they are very, very dissatisfied with the "hidden neglect" of the staff of this hotel towards Chinese (Oriental people)! As a Ctrip diamond customer, I personally strongly recommend that Ctrip take measures that do not recommend or encourage Chinese people to be humiliated to safeguard the dignity of the Chinese people!
First of all, the middle-aged and elderly female head waiter in the breakfast room always asks for the room number every morning when facing Oriental faces (including Korean and Japanese tourists attending the music festival), and she never takes a seat! However, for the Western white people who entered the hall at the same time or later, they not only did not ask for their room number, but also showed them to their seats in person. The contrast was huge! I have traveled abroad hundreds of times for business and private purposes since 1998. I flew to Europe with a platinum card and dozens of times. This is the first time I have experienced an indescribable kind of neglect and even implicit discrimination in an underdeveloped G7 mountain town! Coincidentally, before leaving Perugia, we wanted to have a dinner with friends who are piano professors from Europe and the United States. We went to the open-air bar on the first floor to find a table. We asked the female clerk if there was a table by the window. When we found out that no one had reserved it, we made a reservation for the evening, and a male bartender joined us. I asked for the room number before and was told that I couldn’t reserve a table by the window? I said: The female clerk said that there was no reservation for that table, and besides, we were also hotel guests, but the male clerk was very "stubborn" and said that we couldn't make a reservation! I said to pay the advance payment first, but the male clerk waved his hand and refused! To be honest, this kind of service attitude is no longer a matter of mutual respect! This old hotel is old, but it treats customers so badly. I think it is an unreasonable neglect of Chinese tourists! Because our faces are Oriental, Chinese, because we are not white travelers who look “noble”? ! (If we come to Perugia next year, we will never look at these hotels that are unreasonable to Chinese people. By the way, a group of us later went to a local Michelin restaurant, which was very fun...)
The air conditioning point was particularly irritating as our room (120) was freezing and we would have preferred to have our windows open. The AC would turn off for 5 minutes or so but always then turn back on again.
Broadly speaking, this is a pleasant hotel which we enjoyed although it could do with a bit of an upgrade.
Extensive buffet breakfast; comfortable beds; very helpful and friendly staff throughout the hotel. My only criticism: the high sided bath and the need for non-slip material underfoot. A walk-in shower would be a lot more practical. They also had issues with the heating and airco which appeared to be controlled centrally and not on the individual thermostats.
