Gattopardo Rooms Florence in Florence

Great location, poor experience
The good:

It’s all about the location. You are in the middle of everything, literally. The room was large enough and the ceilings are really high! Large windows. You feel like you are a part of the history. Tons of dining options near by. If you need to leave your luggage and wonder around the city and then come back and pick it up later - that’s an option. That’s about it.

The bad:

Ok, that’s huge - NOISY! Extremely noisy environment caused by tourists at night. It was that noisy through the night, entire night! So, if you are a light sleeper - pass it. We shut the windows close as well as the storm doors for extra barrier. Didn’t help.
Now, read the description carefully - it says shared bathroom! Yes, you have to share it with the others (I believe there were two of them available). Quite inconvenient if you need to get up in the middle of the night to go pee.
WIFI is a joke! The signal was very weak in our room and almost unusable.
Check in was somewhat confusing as there were no clear instructions given. Same thing with the check out process. At check out there was somebody at the front desk - so we didn’t have issues then.
There is NO AC in the unit. Just a ceiling fan.
Customer service could have been better - we tried to get into the building at the time of arrival and no one answered even though we kept pushing the button. If you run a hotel business - please make sure you provide a good customer support, not just sitting and collecting money remotely.

Extremely Disappointing Stay at Il Gattopardo
I recently stayed at Il Gattopardo in Florence and had an extremely disappointing experience. Here are the issues we encountered:

**Cockroaches**: We found cockroaches in our room, the hallway and the bathroom, which was alarming and unacceptable.

**Noise Levels**: The noise levels were intolerable. There was significant noise both from outside and within the hotel, making it impossible to rest.

**Mouldy Shower**: The shower was mouldy, which is both unpleasant and a potential health hazard.

**Broken Toilet Flush**: The toilet flush was broken, causing us considerable inconvenience throughout our stay.

**Broken Window**: A broken window that could not be closed added to the noise problem and compromised our security and comfort.

**Unclear Check-in Instructions**: The access and check-in instructions were unclear, leading to unnecessary stress and confusion upon our arrival.

We chose Il Gattopardo expecting a comfortable and pleasant stay based on its reputation. Unfortunately, these issues severely impacted our experience. I hope the management addresses these problems promptly to prevent future guests from facing similar inconveniences.

Overall, I cannot recommend Il Gattopardo based on my recent stay.

Beware - this was a glorified hostel with falsely advertised amenities. The concierge was rarely there and not there to let us into the building during regular check in hours. The listing said there was a kitchen, breakfast included, and a crib - but this wasn’t true. Our infant had to sleep on the floor in a makeshift bed, despite our requesting the crib 2 days before our arrival. The host never responded to messages and when we finally saw the concierge on day 2, they were not helpful.The location was excellent, but unfortunately, this was overshadowed by the fact that the listing did not have other amenities that we needed for our stay.

Completely misrepresented on the website. This was absolutely terrible experience. Although the description read that someone would be on duty during normal business hours, there was no one ever there. The cleaning person could be heard but not seen. The owner came in half way through our stay briefly to collect tourist tax. When asked about a breakfast that had been advertised, she muttered something about ******* should have let us know about her stopping breakfast and that was all we got. Worst of all was the loud noises coming from below in the street in the evening and going into the wee hours of the morning, this from same crowd of people hanging out smoking pot right next to building entrance. Overall other than the superb location, the experience was miserable. We dreaded going “home” each evening. My husband called it a hostel, a very expensive but nonetheless hostel kind of vibe.

The owner/responsible person was very rude with us and last day 09:30 was knocking at our door to tell us we have to make the check out, when on the reception say 10:30

Horrible experience! I give one star because I can’t give zero! The host is the most rude person ever, your check in will be done through a camera and a speaker as if you were in big brother. The room is not like in the pictures, at least not the one we got. There is a 24/7 vending machine downstairs + constructions going on, so expect little to no sleep. I expressed my discomfort and she cancelled my booking once I checked out so I was unable to give a review on booking.com
Moral of the story, when you read the reviews they are not entirely there as she cancels the stay after check out so she has a better rating, and keeps your money of course!
Don’t waste a minute of your life staying there.
