It was our Wedding Anniversary so I had asked for a table overlooking the water and we had the best one. All the waiters were very attentive, friendly and professional. We opted for the tasting menu and paired wine but we started with a complimentary glass of prosecco to celebrate our Anniversary which was a lovely gesture. We've stayed here several times over the past 10 years and it keeps getting better. a recent "soft" remodel has updated the decor, restaurant and bar, whilst keeping the original character. All the staff is super friendly and accommodating. After a week it was like staying with family.

Location, service, staff and food were wonderful. This is a fantastic place to stay in Varenna, if you are in the area. I stayed two nights - wish I would have stayed longer. This hotel is right on Lake Como, and is found towards the end of a quite street/alley as you move away from the busy, main promenade traffic area. It is approx 15 min walk from the train station. We stopped here for lunch, and our experience was simply out of this world! The view, the sitting area, the shade/gazebo, and the staff was simply superb! We dined here less than a week ago. As many said, the view from the terrace is beautiful and makes your meal worthwhile. The shade is inconsistent so we did have to shift our seats around when the sun was too uncomfortable. Staff was very attentive. We enjoyed our meal here but it is on the pricier end for the portion and quality.

My wife and I have stayed at Hotel Du Lac 3 times in the last 5 years. The reason we keep going back is simple, it's simply our favourite place in the world! Fabulous view, nice accommodating staff. Breakfast was very good. We were told that the A/C was on from noon to midnight and could have a fan if needed.

Every room has incredible views to Lake Como and private balconies. There's also a very good restaurant at the hotel with a great view of the lake.

The host Michaelangelo was so accommodating and thoughtful. We had the best room closest to the roof top terrace. The terrace is fantastic to take in the spectacular view and or enjoy a drink or bite to eat.The view is stunning and the location just above the swimming beach is perfect. Superb little B&B in the centre or Varenna. Everything from the room cleanliness through to the extraordinary breakfast is perfect! Cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay here. The panoramic view from the roof terrace is incredible. Michelangelo is absolutely wonderful and takes care of his guests. Breakfast every morning was mouth watering. Will definitely stay here again when we return to Varenna.

This hotel probably had the best view of any hotel we stayed at in Italy, we slept with the window open most nights as it was so relaxing, but also quite hot in the room without it being open. Tiny , tiny rooms with equally small bathrooms. Showers so small that average sized people will have difficulty. The views make up for a lot , the balcony and deck to the rooms do add a needed feeling of space . A premier balcony room is probably the only comfortable option, I wouldn't want to see the basic rooms .

We stayed here for a night and it was a huge mistake! Should have stayed at least two nights in this lovely hotel. Absolutely loved this hotel! We were only there for one night but I could have stayed for many more. The location is unbeatable (right on the water in the main area but an easy walk to the train and ferries), the view is amazing, the breakfast was so good, and the people were incredibly kind. We had a great stay here! The side lake view room we booked had a wonderful view of the lake from the balcony. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was excellent.

We stayed for three nights in this rather small but very cozy hotel. Our room was very nice with a beautiful bathroom and a small balcony with lake view. The beds were surprisingly comfortable! The breakfast and dinner options were plenty and the personnel very friendly. One small critique point: While the coffee at the breakfast buffet was decent, there's still room for improvement!

What a fantastic hotel. Not only are the rooms very decent sized and clean but the balcony also has a spectator lake facing view! It’s a 7-10 minute walk from all the restaurants nearby and there’s a spot right outside the hotel where you could go to the lake for a dip/swim. We absolutely loved our stay. The family and staff are warm, friendly and provide great service. The location was perfect, a short walk from the train and right next to the ferry terminal. Breakfast was delicious as was our first nights dinner. Short walk along the lake to other fabulous restaurants. Quaint and lovely!

Our weekend stay at Hotel Olivedo in Varenna was wondersful. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the service was excellent and the location was perfect. if you cannot stay at Hotel Olivedo, pick one of the other hotels in Varenna that are on the lake ... you won't be disappointed.

We had a great stay!! View was spectacular and the staff was especially friendly. The free breakfast was yummy and included croissants, mixture of breads, ham and cheese, cereals, and juices. Adequate food and a decent menu. Bread came in a paper bag which was odd. Pizza options pretty good. Opening hours online but accurate as is closed on Wednesday.

We really enjoyed both the seafood and the pizzas and they were really friendly and excellent service. In fact we kept going back as we found it to be the best food and value in Varenna

Very friendly and warm service. Local people preference for get together on Saturday eve. The place was full and still no delay and they serve at once for everyone at the table. I absolutely loved the taste I’ve tried in this restaurant, the place itself is not fancy not at all but the quality of food for me was top! Simple and tasty, I ordered a porcini mushroom risotto which was one of the best I’ve ever had! Not so big restaurant in the small village of Vezio. But the waitress will accomodate you and you will be rapidly served good typical italian food. Italian prices, it means more than reasonable.

Small, but really nice restaurant, close to castello Veranna. The menu is versatile and the meal (ravioli filled with fish) as well as the dessert (sort of apple pie, freshly made, with vanilla ice cream) were delicious. The restaurant offers a wide range of wines (of course) but also surprisingly offers some local beers, we didn't know even existed.

We had only dinner here. Lovely place, “home cook taste & feel”. Trout & beef were both mesmerizingly delicious. It was by far the best dinner we had in Varenna, Bellano area. Recommend to sit outside for the best ambience. The service/host was great.

The house is gorgeous, has all the amenities, and is a stone's throw from the lake. It is also close to many historical points to visit and for refreshments that overlook the lake. Highly recommended!

A beautiful and peaceful domain with friendly and helpful staff. We were helped multiple times by Giovanna and Stefano from the reception desk who were very kind. Varenna is a 16 minutes walk from the Agriturismo but the walk from Varenna is quite steep (goes up 120 meters,). The appartments are nicely furnished with all the necessary kitchen ustensiles and the views from the domain are incredible

Tranquil gardens with amazing views

Fantastic stay at this quiet Agriturismo. Right next door to Venzo and a leisurely walk down to Varenna. We stayed at Casa Donato, a great house, 2 stories with alot of room. Beautiful views from the ground as well. Would highly recommend.

The place is good. The room was clean as well as the bathroom but a bit outdated (we stayed in orange room with windows towards church). The location is quite comfortable, but the church bells are really loud and it goes from 7 am until 10 pm. Lack of airco makes you open the window towards really noisy street with lots of scooters. Amazing views on the balcony and the cheapest place I could find in Verenna. A lovely little place, only you do have to share a room with someone else. Il Bolentino was an amazing place with a good location and service, Antonia & Renata where great hosts who would help you with anything, the continental breakfast was equivalent to a 5 star breakfast, it’s also a pet friendly place with cats outside, but don’t worry they don’t enter the house. While when booking you don't know which room you'll get, it honestly doesn't matter because of how well maintained the space is. We got the red room. It's comfortably sized, warm, and cosy. Great little Bed&Breakfast in a beautiful town, very close to the train station, easy walking distance to everything in town as well as the ferries to bellagio and menagio, lots of ancient stone pathways to explore.
