Hotel Royal Victoria - by R Collection Hotels in Varenna

From the moment we walked in we loved this place. When we arrived, they swiftly grabbed all of our bags and took them to our room. The lobby is beautiful and the staff was welcoming and accommodating and very professional. The room was very clean upon check in and room service kept the room meticulous. the breakfast was beyond impressive. Biggest breakfast selection out of all of the four hotels we have stayed at in Italy. The view from the breakfast area was absolutely amazing. They keep the breakfast area Unbelievably clean and the service is phenomenal. Out of all four of the four star hotels we have stayed at, We will definitely be staying here again. This place blows the other four star hotels we stayed at out of the water. The outside bar with the view is top tier. The views from the balcony and the outside bar are breathtaking. A very convenient location as well. If you were on the fence about booking this hotel, I would definitely recommend doing so.

I took the high-speed train and regular train from Venice to Lake Comer in Varenna and stayed for 3 nights.

From Milan, I took the train to Varenna-Esino station, and it was about a 10-minute walk to the hotel. I was deeply captivated by the scenery. Every view was unforgettable. Its beauty is a perfect blend of nature and human creation. Walking among the rolling hills, shades of green, and a variety of flowers in red, yellow, and white, along with various sculptures, and in the distance, the deep blue lake, was truly a sight to behold. It was definitely worth taking photos!

The breakfast was very plentiful and delicious, and the service was excellent. The only downside was the lack of many restaurant options nearby. Also, perhaps because I went in the latter half of mid-October, I didn't get to see the perfect blue sky and white clouds.

Incredibly nice and professional staff. Comfortable and spacious classic room. Loved that the Cipressi Gardens came with the room, as well as little touches throughout the stay (prosecco, candy). Wonderful!

The shower was dangerously slick however it was rectified with a call. Hotel personnel quite compi Pizza place not so much and their food was below expect

Great property just quick 10 min walk from Varenna train station. Perfect proximity to ferries, lovers walk, shops, and food. Right next door to Villa Cipresi. Rooms were modern, clean, bed was comfortable and staff beyond helpful and friendly. Would totally stay again

Amazing stay! Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast was wonderful. Our room with a view was very worth it. Very easy to get around to / from and away from a lot of the crowds

Incredible resort. Just plan parking in advance.
Rooms were a little noisy, but analogous to all hotels like this on the lake.

We had a lovely stay for our wedding anniversary. Varenna is a great little town. If you stay for a week definitely plan some day trips to surrounding areas via ferry or boat taxi.

The rooms were clean and staff were very accommodating and kind. Willing to help with anything we needed (airport transfer, dinner reservations, spa, boat routes). We had a junior suite with a great view of the lake. There are some beautiful swans that live on the lake and came by the beach at the front of the hotel everyday.

Simply perfect.

Even though we arrived before the official check-in time, our room was already ready, such a nice surprise.

Upon entering the room, we were welcomed with a bottle of prosecco as a welcome drink, which was a lovely gesture.

We stayed in a lake-view room, and we’re so glad we chose it. The view was like a fairytale. Amenities were sufficient and cleanliness was excellent. The only downside was that the usable space in the room was a bit limited.

The pool area was wonderful. Relaxing under the sun with an Aperol in hand and the stunning view of Lake Como was a real highlight.

Breakfast was excellent, with plenty of both hot and cold options. The view made it even more enjoyable. Vegan options are also available.

From reception and concierge to housekeeping and the doorman, every staff member was extremely helpful and always smiling.

They also offered a shuttle service to the train station, which was very convenient.

I rarely write reviews, but I had to for my stay here at Hotel Royal Victoria, as it truly went above and beyond all of my expectations. I stayed here for almost a week in July 2025, as my wedding took place down the block, at Villa Monastero. The front desk and concierge were so helpful (Nipa and Marco) during my stay. They took care of all the things I couldn't do, such as providing a shuttle for my wedding, assisting my very handicap father, booking taxis back to Milan, reserving dinners, opening the bar past hours for my guests, and letting me use their steamer for my wedding dress and my husband's tuxedo. Everyone here is so kind and helpful. Breakfast with the view is exceptional as well. If I ever come back to Lake Como, I would absolutely stay here again.
