The Hotel Palace Viareggio is located on the famous seaside promenade, just across the street from the beach.
From the Blu Bar, located on the sea-view terrace on the 4th floor, you can enjoy a romantic sunset over the sea every evening.
The hotel is a historic Art Nouveau building dating back to 1913 and is one of the symbols of the Belle Époque in Viareggio. The renovation carried out between 2018 and 2024 focused on the restoration and preservation of all original furnishings. In the rooms, only the bathrooms have been completely renovated, while the beds, furniture, and parquet flooring — all dating back to the 1960s — have been carefully restored. This has been done without compromising on comfort: mattresses, pillows, and TVs are all brand new.
In the common areas, original floors and furnishings have also been preserved. The bar dates back to 1960, as do the Murano glass drop chandeliers.
Upon entering the hotel, you will feel as though you’re stepping into an experience steeped in early 20th-century architectural history.
The hotel is easily accessible from the Viareggio motorway exit. Viareggio Train Station is only 1,300 meters away, and Pisa Airport can be reached by train in about 40 minutes.

Our room was nice, at the side of the hotel with a small balcony which you could sit out on.
The staff were amazing, very friendly and couldn't enough for you.
We were half board, which if we went back we wouldn't have again. I would definitely recommend Bed and breakfast, which was excellent. The evening meal was nice, but consisted of a limited choice of five items for each of the three courses. This menu changed every three days, so by the third day you may not find anything you like. After two weeks the menu rotation started again. There are plenty of restaurants within a short distance of the hotel, if we went again I would eat out in the evening.
The hotel has a roof top terrace which is beautiful, the views are amazing. You can eat up there and drink, the menu is al a cart, and not included in the half board.
My main criticism is the bar and lounge area on the ground floor. It is a lovely area, but is hardly used. The bar is not open until November when the roof terrace closes for drinks. You can sit in the area, but if you want a drink you have to request it from the roof terrace. This is crazy, and for the sake of a couple of members of staff, it would turn this area into a vibrant and well used space. Instead, nobody uses it and people generally go out for a drink as the atmosphere in this area is none existent.
Also, the food in the restaurant was of great quality and beautifully presented. Fabio the restaurant manager goes to great lengths to provide a first class service. We really felt very at home here and were made to feel welcome.
The hotel is ideally located on the promenade with lovely sea views from the rooftop bar and easy walking distance to the centre. Would certainly recommend and we hope to return.
I loved all of the murals & paintings in the hotel. There is a relaxed, yet sophisticated, vibe. I highly recommend having the mixed seafood & the potato donut with truffles @ their Deco Restaurant. The rooftop terrace is wonderful & a perfect spot to watch the sunset. The breakfast buffet was huge & very delicious. The room was so aesthetically pleasing & I slept very well. I definitely want to return again one day to this special place.
supermarket for 1.25 euros. Only one complaint hardly any bars open near the hotel and it was a long walk to find one being it was just out of season. There is a supermarket just around the corner on the front which is very good .
