Some wear and tear in the bathroom to the woodwork. Also AC did not seem to function in the room, ok for October but would be an issue in summer. Heat function worked fine. Good value for location.
Severe Hygiene Issues (The Main Frustration)
The biggest source of frustration was the abominable state of the hygiene.
• Dirty Jacuzzi/Bath: The jacuzzi was visibly dirty upon arrival. Although we complained immediately, we did not dare to use it, even after the 'cleaning attempt'.
• Insufficient Room Cleaning: The room was dusty and not properly cleaned. Following a complaint, we requested a second clean. Unfortunately, the result was barely better: thick dust and dirt were everywhere in the corners and bed.
• Cleaner's Reaction: The cleaner claimed she had cleaned it 'really well' and did not take our rightful criticism seriously, which we found extremely unprofessional.
Maintenance and Quality of Linens
The maintenance and quality of the textiles were also substandard:
• Stained Towels: The towels we initially received had stains.
• Damaged Linens: After asking for new towels, one of the pillowcases had a large hole.
• Damaged Furniture: The small sofa in the room had visible damage, including a hole from a cigarette) and an unexplained white stain.
Poor Complaint Handling
The complaint process was incredibly slow and frustrating:
• Slow Response: Due to the unusable jacuzzi, we immediately requested a partial refund. This process was agonizingly slow. We had to ask for the status every single day for four days.
• Under Duress: We only received an answer after we stated we would contact the manager ourselves. Given we only stayed 5 days, this was an unacceptably long reaction time.
• Late Compensation: The offered compensation (the price difference of the room and a free minibar) came far too late to salvage our stay.
Customer Service
Upon checkout, we were not asked how our stay was. We simply received a blunt 'bye', which further confirmed the indifference of the staff.
Positive: The only consolation was the hotel's excellent location.
Conclusion:
This hotel absolutely does not meet the standards of a 4-star establishment, considering the serious hygiene deficiencies, poor maintenance, and slow/unprofessional handling of complaints. We strongly advise against staying here.
I asked for cleaning, but they didn't respond, which was disappointing.
The room was clean.
We needed to book two different rooms; the larger one with the jacuzzi was spacious and comfortable.
We stayed 4 nights but it seemed there was no vacuum cleaning. We preferred to have a luggage bench or stand, as it was breaking the back to unpack and pack with the luggage on the floor. Otherwise everything was fine.
