Reviews
The food is good, and there is a good variety. They have paper cups for anyone who doesn't want to drink from plastic or glass cups.
The sea is not as clean as other places, and from my conversation with other people, we learnt that this bay was used as a fish farm in the past. This explained the fishy smell we occasionally noticed. I really recommend the owners/local authority to consider to get that sea cleaned.
The hotel is cleaned thoroughly throughout the day. We didn't have any issues with the cleanliness, but unfortunately, the rooms are not vacuumed as often leaving dust and hair floating around.
The animation team were sweet, but their manager (who also presented the shows) was often talking down to his team and the guests. He was unnecessary comments about children participating in games and then complaining about it, saying something like, "This is why I don't want children playing.", or just be plain rude towards the guests during the games when the guests didn't understand the rules and he had to explain them again. He is arrogant, moody, very rude, and unpatient,
He often told off to his team, which made us decide not to participate in his games anymore.
We stayed 6 nights but were very bored in the evenings, as you won't have anything to do after the entertainment at the amphitheatre, which lasted more or less an hour each day.
The gardeners, restaurant staff, and all workers were amazingly clean, nice, and kind at all times. That is why I've given 4 out of 5.
The other point is deducted because of the check-in issues, not so clean sea water and the head of the animation team, who acts as if he owns the place.
+ Lobby, beach, location were all nice.
+ The staff in general was also friendly and hard working.
+ The hotel was not too crowded, so it was nice and calm.
- The room was outdated. We had an accident with the shower cabin door (that was not closing smoothly) that collapsed and I got injured. I did receive help fast after this, so the staff was super nice.
- The food was not super bad, but it was the same on most days.
- The swimming pools were a little underwhelming.
Overall it was a pretty relaxing stay and we were mostly positive. I would suggest the general management to work on the outdated rooms and also food options.
This is my fourth stay at this hotel. This time, the hotel has separated from the Crystal hotel chain. The price is the same, or even higher (Family room ~$450/day 2024). The number of staff has been reduced, and the meals are nothing like before. There is no meat dish (which is bad), no variety, no nuts, no taste. Every day, there are just plain meatballs, grilled fish, and grilled chicken. Previously, there were various and interesting dishes. Smoothies with watermelon, melon, etc., used to be made. Packaged ice creams used to be available. All of that is gone. Beach maintenance and sunbed cleaning are poor. The women serving waffles and ice cream act like they own the hotel. Activities at the pier and bar area, and children's animations have ended. In the evening, there is a classic children's dance hour (if you paid to have a T-shirt printed, they do a half-hour ceremony). And worst of all, to cover up all this, they start blasting music from morning till night, brainwashing everyone. There was never such nonsense before. In a pool that’s barely a meter deep, three old ladies are swishing pasta around, making it feel like a festival. They’ve ruined the natural ambiance. There are no Europeans left. Most of the guests are immigrant workers and a few from the eastern bloc. In summary, they’ve turned it into one of those beach places with noisy, characterless, and inconsistent music.
The GOOD:
-The room. We were given a king bend + side bed for us and our 1 year old and it was really comfortable to sleep. Big thanks to Emir and Selman who made sure our room was kept sparkling clean, tidy, and stocked almost every day. They are really nice and accommodating and they do a great job.
- Staff at bars and restaurants are very nice and friendly and they work really hard to make you comfortable. The guys at 4.8 feet bar (Ahmet and Yusuz ) are the best! They know how to mix everything you throw at them and they are great to talk to.
- The sea is awesome. Warm, clear water and very good for kids but also is deep enough to swim.
- The lady at the massage parlor( from Azerbedjan) is a breath of fresh air, she made us feel very welcomed staying here.
- The temperature is colder than Bodrum and thus more refreshing.
- Pools and waterslides are clean and nice. Lifeguards at the waterslides are very professional and friendly.
The BAD:
- Up until our last day we didn't know whether we can extend our check out since we had a late flight (23:00hrs) and a 1-year old who needs to nap. At our last day, we were almost not given the option as the front desk staff kept repeating "we don't have rooms". After insisting I talk to a manager, Selin finally came and took care of us, making sure we can use the room (of course, with pay). Thank you Selin, you made our last day great !
-Beach and sunbeds are dirty.
- Animation team does only the bare minimum to get people animated and shows are ''weak''.
- Most bar staff doesn't know how to mix basic drinks and the "Imported alcohol" they serve is cheaper versions of Baileys, Aperol, Martini, etc.
- Food is the same every day and is mostly plain or spicy.
- Breakfast is mostly bagels and eggs, has very little fruit but dinner and lunch have a lot somehow?
- People leave towels at night to book sunbeds and this is approved by staff who told us to do the same if we want a sunbed.
There are a lot of flies around, especially in the main restaurant and I thought a few more bug zappers around would have been better to lessen the numbers.
Nightly entertainment was fair, a circuse style performance was the best one I seen, the others were mostly dancing styles.
The barmen don't have a cocktail menu to choose from you just name what you want and they will make it (or a version of it that's passable).
The room was basic but clean with aircon, a double bed, a bunk bed, small balcony, tv with a few Turkish channels, bathroom with shower.
The staff were friendly and attentive and cleaned up regularly. A few of the staff spoke English rather well but most struggled to a degree.
The popcorn / candyfloss vendor tried to charge us over the odds on 2 popcorns. We were told by one of the waiters it was 100 Turkish lira for a popcorn (around £2.32) and he tried to charge us £10 for 2 until I said no it's 100 lira each and gave him a £5 then he suddenly said "OK no problem" and took it. I think he thought he could just make some extra on the sly as no price was displayed.
The pools were nice, waterslides were good for the kids, icecreams and waffles available near the main pool. There are 2 a-la-carte restaurants there but I didn't see these open / anyone in them.
Few big wasps flying around near the pools but they don't bother you much if you just shoo them away.
Overall a nice place and would go again but would like to see better kids food options... nicer burgers, chicken nuggets, fish fingers etc for the kids to eat and more pest control regarding the flies.
Among the guests there was also some large group from Serbia who were very loud and disturbed other guests. Many people ran away from them in another direction because they behaved as if the beach belonged only to them. No one from the staff pointed out to them that maybe they could pay attention to the fact that we are all guests and not monkeys in the jungle :) The staff were nice and friendly, but sometimes they should pay attention to someone if they are not fit to live in civilisation. Could be also a little bit cleaner...first thing I did after I arrived was cleaning....
Other than that, I liked everything. Another big plus are dogs and cats!
We were extremely surprised by the polite reception we received by the hotel staff, our room was just perfect, as we had arrived around midnight we wondered if we might be able to get some food, we needn't have worried, there is food available nearly 24 hours a day, the quality of the food was superb, on Wednesday they serve Sushi (my favourite).
Would I recommend this place?
That is a definite yes.
We will be back again next year.
