The staff were excellent - our room with a view was on the 4th floor and as this is a very old building, there is no lift, access is via a granite spiral staircase. If you have a cardiac, respiratory or mobility issue, be aware. Also this hotel is in the middle of the Old Town, from the Tram it is down a very steep hill and that means a climb back up to the centre of town, if you are fit, that's OK. The street has lots of nice family restaurants and a few local shops to buy fruit, water, Turkish Delights, this one in particular was genuinely very friendly. At the end of the hill and to the right approx 200m there is a very nice family restaurant, we went back a second time and would have again only for the climb back up. There was a huge selection, buffet style for breakfast (see photo) and some mornings they included, french fries and pasta. The area settled down by 1 am, a little later at the weekend. The local clean up crews, the refuse lorries etc, had no appreciation of people trying to sleep, the Cats argued for a while and the Seagulls woke up early and the Shoe Factories all around this area started work early and finished late. This might sound a little critical of the area - it's Not - it's just how it is, it is part of the character of staying in a living part of the Old City. We were not put out by it - in fact we enjoyed being part of a living city. We were about 15/20 minutes walk from most of the tourist attractions - the team is at the top of the road, buy an Istanbul Card, travel by tram is very cheap and they are very frequent, often crowded. Buy your card from the machine, it speaks several languages, DO NOT entertain the hustlers offering to 'help'. There is a huge heavily armed police presence throughout the city, security is not an issue. As we were there, there was some paused restoration work on footpaths around the area, these could be trip hazards. The Hotel offers an airport transfer service by luxury cab for €100 return - it's just over a 40km journey each way, we used it and recommend it.

Hotel GedikPasa Konagi - Central, Friendly, good breakfast and part of the Charm of the Old City - we stayed seven nights and YES we would recommend it.
There are modern fancy hotels up the town but staying in them, you could be in any city in the world.
Here you are in the middle of the culture of the Old City and you get that experience. THANK YOU for an enjoyable stay and great hospitality.
PS. They took our bags up to and down from the room.
We are from Ireland and aged 67 & 68, not very fit.

Very friendly place to stay. I have stayed for longer time and everyone made me feel like a friend.
Great location in the centre, close to Grand Bazaar.
Standard as promised. I enjoyed balcony on the roof with the sea view, private and shared.

Nestled in the heart of Istanbul, our stay at the cozy family-run hotel was nothing short of delightful. From the moment we stepped through the doors, we were enveloped in a warm embrace of hospitality that made us feel right at home. The staff (Mr. Hebun, Mr Muro and colleagues) here are truly the heart and soul of the establishment. Their genuine friendliness and attentive service went above and beyond our expectations. From offering local insights to arranging transportation, they were always ready to assist with a smile.

One of the highlights of our stay was undoubtedly the breakfast experience, all thanks to Mrs. Ruzan and her wonderful team! :) Each morning, we were treated to a lavish spread of delicious Turkish warm and cold food.

Beyond the exceptional service and culinary delights, the hotel itself exudes charm and character. In summary, our time at this family-run hotel was truly unforgettable. We left feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and with a newfound appreciation for the warmth and hospitality of Istanbul. We cannot recommend this gem of a hotel highly enough and look forward to returning in the future.

I just asked politely if my very young son could use the toilets and I was told that they don’t have toilets ;—

I loved the hotel, the interior is very nice, the breakfast place has an interesting and authentic design. The service was always great, from the moment we walked in until we left the place. We were offered free cold water, tea, we were given information in detail about everything we wanted to know and we were helped with our bags. The terrace is nice, especially at night. You can see the sea and the ships in the horizon.
The rooms are not bad, the beds are comfy, there is a safe and a mini fridge. I'd fix some minor things, like places to hang the towels in some rooms. When we arrived, our room was not ready and we were upgraded for a day to 2 double rooms and the rest of the week was in a spacious 3-4 person room as we had booked previously.
The food was diverse, it didn't completely change everyday but there were many options. I'm vegetarian but I could eat a very full breakfast everyday.
The only thing I didn't like was the location, as the street is very crowded and mostly dirty but I did appreciate that it was close - maximum 20 min walking - to the city center.
I'd go again for sure.

We stayed for 10 nights and I was happy about my choice. Very kind people who are helping you at the hotel. You feel the kindness. Rooms were big and clean and the beds and pillows lay comfortable. I definitely recommend it.

The location of the hotel is very good, 3 minutes walking distance to the Grand Bazaar, 10 minutes walking distance to other historical places such as Sultanahmet area.
The rooms were large and clean, I liked the breakfast very much.
If I come to Istanbul again, I will definitely choose this hotel.
thank you for everything. hope to see you again soon

Authentic place, has cosiness and safety atmosphere. A beautiful view from the roof and a terrace. Dining place has original design with arches and stone walls and antique kitchen ware. Service was outstanding, very friendly and helpful attitude toward customers. Definitely recommend to stay
