Reviews
This hotel is a smaller property, with around 60 rooms, built around a swimming pool. We thought that it was quite attractive; and the location, just a short walk from the main commercial shopping area, was ideal.
Specifically, the pool and associated bar areas were really good. These were surrounded by some attractive plants and floral arrangements, which made it a nice place to sunbathe and relax.
I’d highlight that the hotel is probably not suitable for anyone with mobility issues; there are many steps, and very few ramps. In addition, once you go outside the hotel, there are a large number of areas on the road and pavements which are uneven and might catch out the unwary. At night times, many of the side roads are unlit which adds to the problems.
The rooms are disappointing; they are all quite small, with limited storage space for luggage and clothing. The main wardrobe is in the bathroom, which is not something that I’ve come across before. There were no facilities for making tea or coffee in the room, and no spare sockets to make use of any.
The hotel has a number of maintenance issues, of the kind that might be expected after a long season. However, on closer examination, some of these appear to be much more indicative of a serious lack of TLC. One thing I discovered was that none of the staff from previous years had returned to work there; those on site at the time we were there, indicated that they did not intend to return next year, which certainly raised some concerns.
One of our biggest complaints was over the “all inclusive” package. Meal times were a bit more restricted than we are used to; snacks were only available for a very short time late in the afternoon, and although ice cream was supposed to be provided, the freezers were always empty.
In addition, there were supposed to be “local spirits” included as part of the package. The only spirit actually on offer was a local vodka. The local beer and wine was acceptable, but we had to get drinks from the bar, and take them with us into the restaurant, as they were not served there.
The actual meals were disappointing as well. Limited options for main courses, mostly chicken, and often not hot. Few dessert or fruit options, although the salads were acceptable. In the end, we ate out several times.
The hotel is supposed to be 4 star, but to be honest, I felt that it was only 2 star at best. We were told that the owner was trying to sell the hotel off and was therefore trying to spend as little as possible. This is a shame, as everyone agreed that with the right management, it could easily be a really nice boutique hotel of 4 star quality. It’s well laid out, attractively landscaped, and could be a great place to stay if the various issues were addressed.
One thing that was really off-putting was that on several occasions the owner was walking around shouting at staff, one lunch time he threw a plate in the dining room because he was annoyed. This is completely unprofessional and unacceptable, you can't treat your staff this way nor should you act like this in front of guests.
Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Bar staff is making their best with choice of drinks available. Only Efes, Vodka, Raki, and red/white wine is in all inclusive, other non-local spirits are paid extra. Usually around 120 TL. Raki with sprite is super refreshing!
Since the hotel is small and all inclusive option is missing from the choice of food bigger hotels offer. But food is always freshly prepared using fresh local ingredients. Massive selection of salats and fresh vegetables. There’s one or two meat selection for each meal. So far we didn’t have any fish. If you are looking for famous British cuisine you will be disappointed. No sad Brits queues for chips, beans and nuggets like you can experience in other hotels. A delicious Turkish cuisine is served here and if you are not fussy eater you won’t be hungry ever.
The only downside of the Katre hotel is lack of WiFi in rooms. Wifi barely works around pool and in reception. But that’s gets you option to reconnect with your family! No more phones by dinner table!
There is no entertainment which was selling point! We do not enjoy company of loud and drunk tourists which are present in other hotels. If you need such ‘entertainment’ you can walk 3 mins to heart of Oludeniz and enjoy entertainment there. If we will be back area we would stay in Katre no questions asked.
It’s a 3* hotel but with small improvements it could get 4* easily
Really close to the beach (5mins on the flat)
Staff are fantastic, helpful and polite
All inclusive - not a massive choice but still more than enough and didn't struggle. A different meat every evening, and enjoy salad to sink a battleship
Pool is more than big enough for the amount of rooms
Bathroom could do with a face lift along with some additional music at the bar.
Would definitely return, great little place
However, rooms are old, equipment is outdated, service is very poor: no wi-fi in the rooms, no shower towels are provided, breakfast and dinner are minimalistic.
The personnel is kind and responsive.
Overall, this hotel needs a serious update.
The hotel is cosy and in a convenient place from the sea. The staff is mostly very friendly and tried to adhere to Hotel Ethics.
Very frustrated with cleaning in the room (...the first day on the floor, my baby found a metal needle!!! Room cleaning was conditional, towels were replaced and two small bottles of water were refilled into the refrigerator.
Although there were days when this action did not take place.
the Day before departure, did no one did anything though personally asked the maid to come in room.
Rooms are small. Bathroom with an old plumbing and without proper ventilation and lighting.
Pleasant staff at with the exception of cleaners and porter baggage (did not want to leave the room until he received 5 € :)))
Everything else fairly decent impress and friendly relations of managers and servants made a more positive impression of KATRE Hotel
P.S....... a large number of Russian visitors(
Close to the sea and the cozy atmosphere of the hotel in general, there were good memories:)
