Reef & Beach Resort - Spa Jambiani

We booked through Secret Escapes. We were given a standard room with ocean view. The rooms were spotless and bed was comfortable. The resort is in a quiet area which was perfect for us as we wanted to relax and unwind. We were up early the next morning for our safari and, when we came back on our 4th day, we were given an upgraded room with swim up pool. The room was stunning and spotless! We had beds on the jetty everyday and watched a few shows on the evening. The Masaai on the beach are friendly and just trying to make a living selling their products but not pushy. There was plenty of food as well as a lot of choice and I really am a fussy eater! We ate at the Italian and Bahari restaurant a couple of times and I really preferred the Bahari. Every single member of staff were so welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. We booked the AI and the only place I could order my drink of choice (Disoranno) was at the Bahari restaurant. I would highly recommend this resort and would go back in a heartbeat! The only thing that made me uncomfortable was Mohamed, the catering manager, he stands around watching others work and he doesn't help them, even sitting down for breakfast whilst others cleared the tables!

Jambo. Just back from two weeks at this hotel. I’ve given a 4 , but I’d really give 4.5 if I could. You certainly know you are somewhere different at this hotel. The service is top class from all the staff and the Masai men, everyone is constantly smiling. The jetty is lovely for lying on your lounger looking out to sea, watching the ebb and flow of the tide, you can wander down after 10 am and get a lounger no bother. Food and drink very good and nothing is too much trouble. We had room 755, which had a more rustic feel , which we liked. The monkeys are very entertaining and they are everywhere around the hotel, they come out when it a bit cooler. The hotel is spotlessly clean, even the toilets are clean. You can get taxi’s from outside the hotel to take you anywhere, or the man that owns the shop outside will drive you in his taxi. We enjoyed ourselves and would return. Hakunamatata , Pole Pole.

Reef & Beach Resort is one of those places that makes you slow down — in the best way. It’s worth noting upfront: the journey there takes over an hour from Zanzibar’s airport, and the roads are pretty rugged, so pre-book your shuttle unless you’re ready to negotiate surge-pricing with airport taxis. That said, Zanzibar’s flight schedules are wild (flights land at all hours), and the resort staff is wonderfully accommodating with flexible check-ins. Once you arrive, it’s all smooth sailing. The resort is well-kept and charming — not flashy, but solidly styled and very clean. If you’re doing all-inclusive (which I recommend), the value is great. Bars don’t skimp on the alcohol, and they stock name-brand sodas and spirits — no off-label surprises. The wristband system is straightforward and lasts your whole stay. Rooms in the newer section are excellent: bright, spacious, and designed with ease in mind. Think: panoramic sea views, plenty of seating, ample storage, and good mosquito netting options. The air conditioning worked well during my stay, which meant restful sleep was never an issue. Special shoutout to the jetty — an oasis for lazy lounging or watching the tide roll in. And unexpectedly, one of the best things? The shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom — actual quality products you’ll want to use, not skip. All in all, a great base for beachy downtime in Zanzibar — just plan your airport transport smartly.

Having visited lots and lots of different accommodations throughout the world, the Reef & Beach resort in Zanzibar is one to be remembered. The service was excellent; from housekeeping to guest relations. The whole resort was clean and full of surprises (in a good way!). I want to thank the staff for the experience.

Just got back from a two week stay at this lovely hotel. Travelled solo and had a great time , all the staff were very welcoming and i felt totally safe . The hotel is immaculate, my room was cleaned daily and the maid would come back in the evening and spray bug spray and put the mosquito net around the bed. The shower worked well , plenty of hot water and complimentary shower gel , shampoo and hand wash ( need to bring your own hair conditioner ) There is a hair drier and safe which you get a key for in your room. Food wise there is an Indian and a Italian restaurant which you book a day in advance plus the main restaurant which was closed for refurbishment until my last day . All restaurant were buffet style and had live cooking stations and you can get a wide range of food to suit all taste. As with all buffets some of the food isnt always piping hot and they can attract flies but the hotel does its best to keep food covered and deter bugs . The food was tasty and plentiful. Snacks were provided in the times the restaurants were closed at the mango bar or jetty bar . There are two pools which i didnt use much as i preferred to sunbathe on the deck which had steps that took you into the green waters of the Indian ocean. Several Masai men are on the beach , and they will approach you to go to their little village (next to the hotel) where they sell things or they want to show you star fish . They are harmless but slightly annoying as sometimes you just want to relax in peace. The hotel has a spa and gym , few shops on site and has an entertainment team who do shows activities etc. Beach towels are provided free of charge via a towel card and can be changed daily. The hotel is a bit remote and not much nearby but there are plenty of local guides that will take you around the island for a reasonable price. You can also book excursions at the hotel. The hotel atmosphere is chilled and suited to couples, solos and families, although party people might find it a bit subdued but you do have Paje is only 20 mins away if you want to venture out . Found this hotel great value for money, with friendly helpful staff and a big shoutout to Deborah from customer relations who goes above and beyond

Everyone of this resort is beyond amazing!
The spa is wonderful. The food is wonderful. The customer service was unmatched.
Special shout out to Daniel the waiter. He did a great job and also Eric who went above and beyond to make sure there was lots of vegetarian options.

The dive center was also amazing. The customer service there was so good and they had great deals on getting Scuba certified!!

There are also monkeys around everywhere!

The only suggestion I would have for this hotel is to have more change available!

Minimum wage is low in the country of Zanzabar in general, so it is important to tip!

I can’t wait to come back!

Reef and beach was our first stop on our trip and it really exceeded our expectations. What a wonderful, kid-friendly, value for money resort. The staff were very attentive and friendly, and there was a large variety of food and drinks that was always delicious. The resort was clean and not over crowded, there was always a place to sit and admire the clear blue ocean while having a cocktail. Would definitely recommend

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this stunning resort in Zanzibar, and it was nothing short of amazing! The breathtaking blue oceans were a highlight, providing the perfect backdrop for swimming and snorkeling. The resort's beautiful jetty was my favorite spot for tanning and taking in the serene views.

Entertainment options were abundant, keeping us engaged and delighted throughout our stay. The cocktails were fantastic, crafted to perfection and enjoyed in a vibrant and relaxing environment. Our room was incredibly comfortable, offering a cozy retreat after each fun-filled day.

Overall, it was an unforgettable experience, and I can't recommend this resort enough for anyone looking to have an incredible time in Zanzibar!
