Now back from our second time staying here and cannot wait to be back already! It is bliss with a lovely swimming pool and very accommodating and kind staff. The food is great (many local dishes) with good portion sizes, cocktails are delicious and the beach is beautiful. Special mention to Roger, the manager, who was so delightfully accommodating, organising any day trips we wanted to do and who came up to check on us every dinner time. This place has a special place in our hearts and will definitely be back soon.

Wow…such a holiday!!
If you’re looking for a nice, natural and quiet place where to spend your holiday in Zanzibar, Ujamaa is the right place!
Me and my family (3 kids) are already missing the environment of this place and all the super nice guys at the bar and restaurant…Isaac, Martin and the girls have been always so nice, introducing us in Tanzanian culture and serving good cocktails and great food!
The houses are really nice and typical, everything here is genuine and relaxing.
The place is far away from the crowded touristic areas, so it takes a while for reaching the main attractions of Zanzibar, but when you come back here after a nice tour, that’s magic!!

Ideal place to relax and enjoy the beach. The staff is extremely kind and friendly. The rooms were thoughtfully equipped with the perfect amenities for the beach. To top it all, great cocktails and delicious seafood!

Ujamaa is so relaxed, so fresh, so friendly. When we had a medical issue, the owner kept in touch every day to ask how it was and offered to take us to the medical post day or night (and he did! And he waited more than 2 hours outside until we were ready to head back!). Our 2 bedroom bungalow was perfect for our family, with nice beds and shower. The area, pool and bungalow were very clean, mosquito nets available in good condition. You can make a nice walk on the beach towards a small village, where local people collect shells, sea urchins or use their nets to fish. No one wanted to sell us anything, you could stay at the beach in front of Ujamaa the whole day without being bothered, or maybe except for the staff that brings you fresh water without having to ask for it. It's all 'hakuna matata', if you're there, you don't have to worry about anything. If you let the staff know what you want for lunch or dinner, they prepare it completely fresh. Massage on the compound and day trips available, wifi available in the restaurant area. Ujamaa takes you away from your work, tasks or duties and clears your mind. It is quite remote, and that pays off. Would definately recommend.

Rustic and dreamy feel. Roger who runs the resort is very friendly and helpful. Miriam was also very nice. All staff were very friendly. Great pool (3 depths). Great restaurant area with sofas and daybeds with mosquito nets. Really great food, deserts and juices. Super calm beach area (nobody bothers you to purchase anything). Bungalows are very private, with their own porche with sofa and coffee table. Beds are extra large and with a very spacious mosquito net. AC is available (but we did not need it). Hot water shower is great. Straw hats, beach tote bag and locally made robes are available in the room for us to use during our stay. :)

This beautiful place Will make you feel relaxed and has everything you need for vacation. The staff is service minded and friendly. The food is tasty and Well cooked - even a gluten free diet is possible here. Tours were well arranged from here. The Beach and pool is Nice. The family bungalow is very clean with Great beds. Do not hesitate to book your stay at this paradise.

This really is a wonderful place everything you need to relax. Small place, just 12 rooms, perfectly formed! Superb outlook, great bungalow accommodation, fabulous team of well trained locals led by one of the coolest and most efficient guys I have come across. Roger the Rasta is on it and you wouldn't even know it. Great choice of food and reasonably priced. Plenty of varieties of drinks and if you want something specific for your stay Roger and his team will oblige. Nothing seems too much. My daughters had a number of spa treatments as did some of the other guests who were there and all came back glowing. There were some low key, very entertaining events put on that got all guests hooked. Would definitely like to return soon!

Such a fantastic place, the surroundings are beautiful and the atmosphere so peaceful. This is the perfect spot to relax and feel far away from busy everyday life. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. The bungalows were clean and very nicely decorated. We loved the local basket and sun hat provided in the rooms and high quality shampoo and soaps from Inaya Zanzibar. The food was great and we miss so much the delicious fresh juices and fantastic breakfasts! The swimming pool and pool area is lovely. We also loved the private beach and ocean swimming during high tide. The beach is peaceful, clean and has stunning views. We definitely wish to come back to this wonderful and idyllic place :)
