Sultan Sands Island Resort

From the moment we stepped into Sultan Sands, I felt like I’d found a little piece of paradise. This wasn’t just a hotel—it was a beautiful escape with stunning views that melted my stress away. The hotel is perfectly nestled against an amazing beach, and the ocean views were breathtaking—changing every hour of the day. Don’t forget to swim in the morning when the water is high! I didn’t even want to sleep; I just wanted to soak in every moment, from the incredible sunrise to the late night. Normally, I’d search for trips outside the hotel, but there was always something to do right there (trips are still highly recommended). Hotel offered painting sessions (I brought home my own piece of art!), cooking classes, a coconut show, a visit to a local village, volleyball, and evening shows or concerts. Gerthrud and Isaac’s invitations were hard to resist—I wanted to try everything! Check the calendar so you don’t miss anything that interests you. Our bungalow was perfect—clean, tidy, and just right for three friends. The food was great, with a different variety and theme every day. As a salad and fruit lover, I was in heaven, and the local specialties were amazing. Everything was made with care, making each meal a delight. But what made Sultan Sands unforgettable was the staff. I’d love to name everyone, but the list would be too long! They were helpful, smiling, kind, and caring—everyone made us feel so welcome. Their warmth turned a great stay into something truly magical. (Warmest greetings from colder Poland to all the amazing staff!) If you’re planning a trip to Zanzibar, Sultan Sands is the place to go—it’s beautiful, fun, and feels like home. I left refreshed, happy, and already dreaming of returning.

We had the most wonderful holiday ever. It felt like a life experience. The quality of the hotel is very good. Beautiful location, delicious food, entertainment of high quality in the evening but most of all such friendly and professional staff everywhere. They really made us feel so welcome. One evening my husband had arranged with the staff a special romantic dinner on the beach. It was spectacular. Full moon, a delicious seafood menu, beautifully decorated and at the end all the staff came singing and dancing to our table with a delicious cake. Such a special and beautiful memory. We will go back for sure. It felt like coming home ❤️ Thanks to the whole staff for this holiday experience.

What an exceptional hotel, location, staff and experience Set on the Indian Ocean, with safety, luxury and hospitality- I relaxed the moment I arrived The staff were so friendly and helpful and we were made to feel at home immediately The lodge was on the beach and I saw sunrise everyday - I swam in the ocean and did aerobics in the pool The live music was wonderful and the spa treatments fabulous I recommend this hotel resort and the wonderful management and staff - fully recommended

I stayed at the Sultan Sands hotel twice, the first time in January 2024 and the second time I returned with friends in January 2025. After arriving at the hotel from the airport, the first person who saw me during check-in was Berta from the hotel reception. This meeting was the most memorable for me! The meeting with Berta again was very nice and full of emotions. Berta remembered my face from the previous year and welcomed me very nicely. Berta is always smiling, cordial and helpful. I would like to extend my warmest regards to all the hotel employees, especially Berta, with whom I was very moved to meet her again. Sultan Sands Island Resort is located right next to a phenomenal beach with soft, white sand and turquoise ocean. The hotel is located on the eastern coast of Zanzibar, in the Kiwengwa area, adjacent to the Bluebay Beach Resort & Spa. The hotel is located directly on the beach, with free umbrellas, sun loungers, mattresses and towels. Here you can observe the amazing phenomenon of large ocean tides. I recommend this place primarily to people looking for beautiful views and those who like sunbathing and active recreation. There are swimming pools, a paddling pool for children, and a volleyball court in the sister facility. One part of the hotel is intended only for adults. The hotel offers very tasty and varied meals as part of All Inclusive. Also worth mentioning is the very helpful and friendly hotel staff, from the cleaning ladies, to waiters, reception staff, cooks, animators and gardeners. Each of them is always smiling and friendly.

The atmosphere is amazing, waiters are friendly and the Manager(Kevin) made sure we were comfortable 10/10 experience overall. African friendly so I urge all Africams to check it out. We truly enjoyed our stay would do it again. Hotel rooms clean too.

great hotel, great service, beautiful beach. rooms cleaned daily, very good food. daily animations. sun loungers and towels available on the beach. bottled water for brushing teeth in the bathroom. coconuts to drink straight from the palm tree. I recommend

Good hotel with direct access to the beach. Cozy, clean rooms with A/C and everything you need after the end of a journey around Tanzania. I stayed here for three nights after a safari and a visit of Stone Town. Only downside: some locals bother the tourists on the beach trying to sell boating or snorkeling tours or souvenirs. Luckily the beach is guarded. Also: watch out for the tides. They can surprise you during a walk.
