San Remo Hotel

Though this place does have facilities they are ill maintained and very dirty, the pool for example had algea growing on the sides and was full of leaves. And to top it off when we check into our room we were greeted with an overwhelming smell of cat urine and soon found out it was coming from one of the beds🤮. Will never stay here again even if I was paid to do so.

Food:
Good variety. Taste and freshness at most edible.
Staff:
The receptionist and barman were really nice and helpful. We didn't interact with any of the other staff.
Location:
Close to the airport and to the city center. Far enough to be quiet, close enough to find a restaurant (you'll want to eat out).
Pool:
Medium size, max depth 145 cm. Temp depends on the environment.
Shower was horrible, water pressure was completely unreliable. Hot water goes on and off, same for cold water pressure.
The sink in our room is literally disintegrating, with pieces falling periodically.
The smell was like ground zero for "The last of us" fungi.
Electrical devices:
The rooms have a smart TV, small fridge, hair dryer, AC (weak) and kettle.
There is a locker in the room, with no lock. I wouldn't recommend leaving ANY valuables in the room with no supervision.
In short, only book a place if the price is low and you have no other choice or standards.

+ If it wasn't for the nice receptionist, we wouldn't have stayed, even if it meant loosing money

I chose Hotel San Remo because it offered a significant discount for Genius members and free breakfast. I ended up experiencing six nights of horror. The basic room looked terrible, so I booked a "deluxe" room instead. To my surprise, the "deluxe" room was far from deluxe. This old hotel seems to lack proper management and staff. The hotel cuts corners everywhere, especially on maintenance. It's the first time in my life I've had an encounter with a cockroach in a hotel.

🛁 The so-called deluxe room had a rusty shower and sink, and I had to use plastic bags to feel comfortable using them. The towels were relatively clean, and the cleaning staff was friendly.

🏊 The pool was another disappointment; its temperature was like a hot tub, and its color suggested bacterial overgrowth. I seriously doubt the pH and chlorine levels have been checked since 2012. The entire building is run-down, old, and unhygienic.

🔊 The walls are very thin, and the hotel’s clientele is extremely noisy, making it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. Nothing worked properly at the entrance, not even the air conditioning, and the staff showed no hospitality or friendliness. I know that people from Romania don't smile, so it is standard here. They were trying by using the words "Love you" in my language, but I think the receptionist didn't know what he was saying and it was offensive.

🍽️ The breakfast was terrible. I ended up bringing my own food and making my own cereal since finding anything gluten-free or vegan was impossible.
💻 The hotel’s internet was unsafe, and I constantly received ARP cache attacks. The balcony chairs seemed to have been last cleaned in the 1960s.

Overall, I do not recommend this hotel. I wouldn't call it a hotel, there is no guarantee of sleep or hygiene. Location is the only and last option for being accommodated here.
