Hotel Stempferhof in Gossweinstein

The first impression was very good. The reception was very friendly and the whole team was extremely accommodating and friendly. The rooms were also very nice and clean. The breakfast buffet was completely sufficient and very tasty. The evening menu was always fresh and also very tasty. Even if we had to change something, it was no problem.

We spent a long weekend at the Stempferhof with 3 families and 3 grandchildren. We all really enjoyed it, everything was perfect, all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very large, we had a superior double room. The breakfast was varied and the dinner was very good. We will definitely come back. The beautiful terrace is currently being finished.

The Stempferhof is quietly located on the outskirts of Gößweinstein. The town center is easy to reach on foot. The staff is friendly and competent. At the same time, the Stempferhof is suffering from a shortage of staff, which is currently plaguing the entire restaurant and hotel industry. The room: small and simply furnished; no decoration; no pictures on the walls. The bed could do with new mattresses, the current ones are already very worn out. (Also packed in a "plastic encasing" that crunches with every movement) The carpet could also do with a thorough cleaning or replacement. Pillows are too small. The bathroom is simple and small; bathtub with (too short) shower partition no longer up to date. Well-intentioned, poorly done: in the room, next to a bottle of water to welcome you, there is a small plate with a cereal bar and an apple (for two people) and one and a half broken cookies. The housekeeping could be more thorough: dust in some places, soap dispenser in the bathroom empty (but this was quickly remedied). An unpleasant smell in the room was annoying, the origin of which could not be determined. Although it had been freshly cleaned, it smelled musty, stale, "used". The "house rules" were also bizarre: for example, playing cards (German or French deck) is not allowed. This is because this hotel belongs to the social welfare organization of the "Johannian Church" (which is classified as a Christian sect in religious studies). Such a ban is neither contemporary nor biblically Christian-based. Breakfast: The breakfast room (restaurant in the evening) is modern and pleasantly furnished; the style is harmonious. Breakfast is served as a buffet. The food on offer makes a consistently good impression. Here too: friendly staff. Very pleasant atmosphere (especially if you are there early and almost alone). Dinner: Beautiful restaurant with a fine menu and friendly service. The dishes consisted of high-quality ingredients and were skillfully prepared. The price level is, however, high (also applies to the drinks) and there is no Franconian cuisine. The Stempferhof is probably the most expensive option for staying and eating in Gößweinstein. While the prices in the restaurant are just about reasonable, the overnight prices are clearly too high for the service offered.

Comfortable friendly hotel well located for Bayreuth Festival as well as for hiking and other activities in the beautiful countryside. The hotel was just as expected with a good room, great breakfast and good dinner restaurant too.

Parking a little ways away.

Only complaint is that smokers use the area in front of the hotel so you cannot use your balcony or leave your room window open as the smoke drifts in; nor is it nice to sit outside in the garden for the same reason.

I stayed at the Ringhotel Stemperhof in Gößweinstein for a week, during which I attended the Wagner festival in nearby Bayreuth. When I checked into my room, I was impressed to see how spacious, modern, and clean it was. It's a pleasant place to spend a week. Everyone in the hotel was friendly and helpful. The service was excellent. The hotel also provided me with a superb breakfast buffet at no extra charge -- an outstanding bargain. The breakfast buffet is elaborate: not just bacon and eggs but a wide variety of meats, cheeses, fruits, yoghurt, etc. The Sunday breakfast buffet also offers champagne. Within easy walking distance of the hotel is a spectacular Catholic basilica in the baroque style -- an extra benefit for me because I'm Catholic.

Excellent place to be. Very kind, attentive and helpful personel, comfortable rooms, good food. Was there for meeting, good service and facilities. Nice relaxing surroundings
