Where to stay in Murnau

Absolutely loved our stay there Room was spacious and clean. Staff were amazingly friendly & helpful. Food was delicious and the breakfast buffet was very well stocked with fresh food & local delights. Only downside is the size/layout of the hotel across different buildings. Makes it harder with a young child... And let's say the outdoor pool and sauna area are nicer than the (little bit underwhelming...

This was probably the only 5* hotel in Murnau, and maybe excellent by local standards but definitely not 5 stars worthy. Stayed here for 3 nights. 1. There is no AC. Appears to be the norm but was sometimes stuffy even with windows opened. I also had issues with smelling cigarettes. Such a special hotel. All the small details from the smell of the lilies in the lobby, to the amazing outdoor sauna and spa facilities. Plus the free mini bar, welcome champagne and private terrace. Fantastic very eco friendly hotel with a great spa and very friendly staff. Lovely renovated rooms and fantastic breakfast offering. Perfect for a short break with or without kids and dog.

Cannot recommend this place enough. If you‘re looking for a couple days of wellness, this is the hotel to book. The staff was incredibly attentive, they created an atmosphere that was chique but not too stiff (which can easily happen in these kind of places), the wellness area was huge, we didn‘t even manage to check everything out, and the food was out of this world, every dinner exeeded our expectations...

Nice place, high price compared to the hotel facilities, the pictures do not reflect the facilities. The food in the restaurant was delicious and the service was good, unfortunately the price is very high, in retrospect we should have looked for another place.

Great location, very friendly staff, great breakfast, lovely bier! Had a very big, quiet room in the Malzene this time around and would book ik again immediately. Parking sometimes full, but it always worked out in the end. Wifi also works very well, which is important if you are from abroad.

Great little brewery with super restaurant serving the beer in traditional style. There is also a gasthaus / hotel attached. Great centre for the local, extensive, largely off road, cycle tracks. Great beer too!

I absolutely love this place. There's nothing bad to say about it. The food, perfect. The beer is even better, you have to have the helles. If you get to talk to the brew master Wolfgang he is a great guy. Absolutely amazing place.

I just want to offer praise where it is deserved. I stayed only one night, but should I have need I will choose to stay here again. Great staff, delicious breakfast and right in the middle of town. And all this for a very reasonable price!

The Hotel Post garni is a historic hotel in the center of Murnau. I was especially eager to stay there because of its associations with the playwright Ödön von Horváth. The rooms were lovely and spacious. The amenities were also wonderful. (Water in the room; An excellent shower.) Breakfast was also first rate. A variety of excellent offerings.

A very special place that is highly recommended. The hosts have furnished the hotel with attention to detail and you feel more at home than in the hotel. If there is an opportunity to dine there, you should definitely do so!

A true gem on the highest point of Murnau. A magical, exclusive atmosphere that will be remembered forever. Marrying here is extraordinary and very personal. The area is protected and yet not detailed. The garden is simply gorgeous and the wedding ceremony under oak trees could not be more romantic. Really authentic, different and unique. Nice clean spacious room, awesome wellness area, we enjoyed it there and plan to stay there in the summer as well. I only do not understand why was the breakfast on our check-out day (sunday) richer than previous days, for me it was a bit disppointing. But it was great anyway, thanks.

We stayed at this hotel for 8 days. The service was very good, the breakfast excellent. The room was of a good standard, as was the bathroom, if a little on the small side. The location in the village is very quiet and only a few hundred meters from the "center". We will be back, especially because of the rich and high quality breakfast.

Germans love the place, but for Americans it may take awhile. Andrea of Alpen Gastehaus Gerold is the absolutely the best. We spent 8 glorious days and 7 nights in the Alpen Studio that had very comfortable beds with an amazing view of the Bavarian majestic mountains from our balcony. Everything you could need was provided and we really enjoyed making some of our meals in a well equipped kitchen. Their is a newly opened Edeka supermarket across the street too...

I was there in July 2022 for 2 nights with my family. The room was perfect. The bathroom was clean and the hairdryer was able there. Furthermore, breakfast was very tasty. As for the owners, they were very friendly and helpful. I can recommend this place.

A beautiful location.🌄 The rooms were good.🛏 Decent sized bathroom🛁 and a mini-fridge, and we had a little balcony to take in a more panoramic view🏞 of the amazing view of the mountains. In the morning the breakfast was a pretty standard☕ & The lady staff were very nice friendly as well. 😊😊

Andrea and her family were absolutely lovely! She went above and beyond to make sure our stay was as pleasant as possible. Great place to stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was great, super helpful and accommodating. The breakfast is probably the best you'll get anywhere in Germany.

Very quiet location, great farm, with lots of space and a wide view. Very nice and friendly family, we felt very comfortable. We were able to store our bikes safely. Ms. Onnich always suggested the best goals of the day for breakfast, which we were very happy to include in our daily planning. If we go on holiday in this region again, we will definitely ask again!

Our first holiday on a farm around March this year was super relaxing! The host family is wonderfully relaxed and natural with a loving Bavarian manner. They were always at our side with tips on the region and gastronomy, as well as sights. Great for a vacation with small children. Lots of animals to see, and pet, very nice playground next to the house and 5min on foot an adventure playground as well. Hosts are very friendly and welcoming, breakfast was also good. All in all a warm recommendation.

The staff is really forthcoming and nice, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, what prevents this venue from getting 5 stars is the quality of the food offered here. Breakfast was fine and the fish was also good at lunch and dinner, but the meat and especially the vegetables were too greasy.

This hotel deserves 5stars. Every corner radiates with beauty and a dedication to detail and quality. I can highly recommend it to anyone looking for peace and solace from the nature. Book it with halfboard direct from its website (for two nights at least). It gives you a much better deal.

I was in Johannesbad for a short break. Very nice rooms, good comfortable beds, safe, minibar, etc. Dogs welcome. Fantastic, rich breakfast buffet. Very good food and family owned atmosphere. My room was very nice and I also like the pool and sauna area. You have the choice of a take away lunch instead of breakfast. I liked that because I had to leave early in the morning.

Very clean! good breakfast! However, pool, sauna, game room close at 1900. All local restaurants prefer reservations.

It's ok I guess because there was NO wifi even though they advertise it it is a very weak signal and the food was pretty good

Typical winter Bavarian hotel, you can have a sauna after the cold day, and if you'd like a beer at the evening simply go down in the restaurant

Only arrived yesterday but you can feel the warmth already the staff are very friendly . Hotel is spotless . Marie greeted us yesterday with a very warm welcome I am just going to try the sauna and will keep you updated . Its getting better staff so very friendly pool excellent and sauna good too . Firstly, the Staff, very hospitable, friendly and helpful. The Sauna was amazing, we paid extra for the private sauna and it was very nice. plenty of parking and in a good location to see all kinds of beautiful nature

This is a great Hotel to stay if you want to explore the region of the Ammergau Alps. The service at the hotel is impeccable and the people of the region are very friendly to tourists. You will start your day with an amazing breakfast buffet and then you can either hike the Alps, hit the slopes or relax at the Spa!!! We will be back again soon!

This is a quaint hotel right in front of the mountain "Hörnle" - a great area to Ski and sleigh ride. They have a 4.5km long sleigh hill which you can ride down 🙌🏽 The food for the region is very hearty and filling from home made Spätzle to Schnitzel you can eat anything your hear desires st their in house restaurant.
