We had a a lovely stay at the Blaue Gams this October. Ettal is a favorite spot for us and the hotel's location provides a stunning view of the town and the monastery. The hotel itself is very beautiful and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were lovely and very roomy. They were kept very clean and the beds were very comfortable. Our rooms were the floor above the reception desk and there was a small, but convenient elevator to get you to that level. Breakfast was top notch and the restaurant at the hotel was superior - we actually opted for dinner at the hotel both nights we stayed there! Parking is convenient and very close. Even with being a small hotel, the services offered were amazing - including having laundry services available for us at a critical point in our trip. We will not hesitate staying here again on our next visit to Ettal.

Are you kidding me? Is there a more perfect view in all of Bavaria? I could have say on this balcony for a month straight! Honestly the bed was very hard, the pillows were much firmer than others in Germany (thankfully), the staff was terrific! Try the cheese board and Ettal Dunkel! But that view..... you can't beat that view....

This was a beautiful, clean and comfortable inn in Bavaria. The views from the balcony are amazing. The breakfast buffet was delicious. One of the nicest places we have stayed in our travels.It was a good base location for exploring the area.

This was one of the nicest hotels I have stayed at during my travels. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The balcony was beautiful with a gorgeous view. The Local towns were nice to explore and it was a good base location

Great experience. The sauna was epic! It has this massive pot/cauldron that drips water over a pile of lava rocks. They also have a cold shower thing outside where you can view the landscape. The included breakfast was also really nice. If you are out this way, I would stay here (as long as you don’t mind not having A/C in the rooms, which is basically all of Germany).

Nice typical german hotel next to the famous monastery, clean room with good sturdy beds. A little too pricey for the value but sufficient. We had a good stay here

We had a really pleasant stay at this beautifully designed countryside-style hotel. The attention to detail in the decor is impressive, and the hotel offers stunning panoramic views of the old town of Ettal and the monastery. Free parking is conveniently available right next to the building. There’s a lovely outdoor area with lawns and lounge chairs, perfect for relaxing and taking in the view. The wellness area was a great bonus — it includes saunas and relaxation zones, and is open twice a day at no extra cost. The hotel’s restaurant serves a varied and tasty menu at reasonable prices. Our room was very clean, included a fridge and even a complimentary bottle of water. The bathroom was especially spacious with excellent water pressure. On the downside, the standard room was quite small, and there was no kettle in the room. Also, access is via stairs only (just one floor up, but something to note for those with mobility issues). The check-in process was also longer than expected due to many questions. Still, we had a wonderful experience and would happily recommend it.

Great location overlooking Ettal. Nicely furnished rooms, a solid breakfast offering, and a nice outdoor area. The restaurant was closed for a renovation, so did not get an opportunity to experience it.

Ettal is one of the most picturesque little towns you will find in the alps of Germany. The room was lovely, I got the room with the view of the Abbey, which I would suggest over the view of the hill where the sheep are, just because the hill is really steep and I don't think you really get all that great of a view. We ate at the hotel a couple times and the food was really good. English was not typically spoken here, but we got by no problem with our very limited German vocabulary. You can pretty much walk to anywhere you want within the town in just a few minutes. The Abbey is beautiful and there are many other restaurants to choose from. Definitely take a day trip to walk Partnach Gorge, it is amazing! Take another day trip to Lindhoff Castle. Both are only about a 10-20 min drive away.
