Reviews
The staff make you feel valued and special. The resort is outstanding for accommodation restaurant, sauna, swimming and exercise programs. I have visited 4 times and have enjoyed it so much every time.
Super competent therapists and doctors. Very friendly and helpful sisters. Simply the entire staff, from the reception to the dining room and the cleaners, were all great.
Then the location............
If you didn't have any aches and pains, you'd think you were on vacation
Admission: Four of us arrived, one of the ladies traveling with us was asked by the sister to register for admission. The lady (over 80 years old) tried to cope with her documents in the guide folder and the crutches, which simply didn't work. When I asked the nurse, who was already at the entrance to the admission room, to please help the lady, I got the simple answer: No.
You have to admit it… unbelievable
Intake examination: The first thing I was told was that aqua therapy would not be offered to me because my surgical wounds had to heal without scabs.
I had a TEP on my other knee 12 years ago, so it wasn't a problem.
I would also expect the scar to be looked at before making a decision about hydrotherapy. Doesn't matter…
Gait school: In the gait school applications I found myself among a group of around 12-17 people with around 5 walker users. I understand that walker users also need REHA. Whether it makes sense to combine their applications with those of crutch users remains to be seen.
After all, it was cute to see the wheelchair users clearing the obstacle cones in rows as they ran around the obstacles because the space in the room was simply too small. By the time the cones were all set up again, the next person moved them, etc., 20 minutes (=application time) had passed and you had completed exactly 2 rounds
Lymphatic gland massage: This consisted of applying a cuff that was regularly inflated and deflated. I was asked by the therapist if it would fit like that? When I replied that I couldn't judge because it was my first mechanical lymphatic drainage and I had no experience, she increased the pressure by 50% and said: Well, maybe it's better this way.
In other words: The therapist had no plan... The result: I had an effusion in my leg from the knee to the metatarsal, so that I couldn't get into any sports shoes for 4 days and had to take part in the exercises wearing slippers.
To ease the pain, I wanted to get an ice pack from the nurse's room. The rude message was: Couldn't I read the notices, ice packs were only available at 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Firstly, there were no notices of this kind and secondly, it does not help the patient if the swelling occurs outside of the distribution times.
And so I could go on and give more details…..
One more thing: final examination: When I was discharged from the hospital, a 90° flexion in the knee was found, which was confirmed on the same day during the admission examination in Schwangau. During the final examination in Schwangau, it was determined through visual assessment from a distance of 3 m that “as well as you sit, you can certainly achieve a flexion of 90°”.
The final letter states: Initial flexion: 60°, upon discharge 100°. This may perhaps enhance the success statistics of the rehabilitation clinic, but otherwise it is lies and deception.
Conclusion: Never again
Directly at the large main parking lot, e.g. on the terrace of the cafeteria there, there should also be an official entrance or, ideally, the main entrance. That would be a much better route and, together with even clearer signage, would avoid a lot of searching and unnecessary back and forth.
By the way, the larger main parking lot is apparently currently being expanded because it was often full on Sundays and public holidays, among other things. Commendable!
The service I received from check-in throughout my stay was impeccable. Everyone was courteous and friendly, in both German and English.
I signed up for two separate spa treatments and both were great!
Everything was great, far exceeding my expectations. Stunning property, pool area and gardens and outdoor seating was lovely. The breakfast was very nice with a full selection of different types of choices. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The overall atmosphere was amazing.
