Hotel Riu Arecas - Adults Only

The hotel Riu Arecas is such a lovely and clean hotel throughout. The food is absolutely tasty and amazing. ALL staff from reception to cleaners, throughout waiters are lovely and welcoming. The pools are great with plenty of clean sun loungers in shade or sun. Everything is well maintained. It is such a relaxing holiday. And a big plus is that you don’t have any annoying blasting music at pool or anywhere in the hotel all day (like in so many hotels). Also, it is an Adult only hotel which makes the difference, if it is pure relaxation you are after. The entertainment is only at nighttime and finishes at 11PM (another big plus). The rooms are fairly quiet and very clean. The staff seem to get on with each other and seem happy. The waiters are really all great but a very special thank you to the ‘baldy waiter’ (as he calls himself) Nahum and the cleaner Lina. Nahum is hilarious and Lina does the special touches in the room. I will take home nothing but lovely memories and hopefully return soon. Love, love, love this hotel as I had the best, (most needed) relaxing holiday.

We had a very enjoyable 11 night stay at Hotel Riu Arecas, reception staff always greeted you with a friendly smile and nothing was too much trouble, our room was a good size with a very comfortable bed, the usual tea and coffee facilities, bathroom also good size with walk in shower, the restaurant was spacious, you can sit in or out, the waitering staff worked hard with a smile, food was excellent, so much too choose from, everything to a high standard and well presented, entertainment in the evening was very good, throughout the hotel and outside was clean and spotless.
From the back of the hotel there are many steps that take you to the promenade, there is an alternative, if you leave the hotel from the front entrance, walk up the slope to the main road, turn right along the pavement for about 600 yards until you come to a terracotta colour building, turn right and walk down the slope to the promenade.

Great Hotel, everything is spotlessly clean. food is of an high standard and tasty. Staff are polite and efficient. Two things , a bottle of water in the room on arrival would be nice for that first cup of tea/coffee, the other would be a ban on smoking in the entertainment area on a night.

Solo female traveller. Big hotel with 400+ rooms so restaurant gets very busy. Mostly couples, older demographic during my stay. If you are solo and this would be intimidating for you, maybe look for something smaller more intimate.
Pool space gets really busy, age old issue with clients bagging sun-beds with a towel early morning & then not using them! Pools are immaculate & well maintained. Only one pool towel per person allowed but wet ones can be exchanged for a dry one.
Pool bar only sells drinks & ice creams.
Regular bus service going East into local town. If you like walking it’s a nice walk West along the coast to La Caleta. Black volcanic sand beaches in some areas.
At night hotel corridors go quiet around 2300. Older demographic retire early!
If you like TV and are from the UK, there’s only BBC news 24, & no subtitles.
Overall a nice hotel with helpful and kind reception staff. Room maids do an excellent and cheerful cleaning routine.
As the only solo traveller I know of during my stay, I won’t visit again but overall I enjoyed it & weather was great!!

We had a great experience at Riu Arecas. The hotel is very clean, the location is great including access to the beach. The highlight was the service: all stuff members very friendly and professional - well done to all! The food was also very delicious and huge variety, we also had a great time at the Spanish Restaurant. A suggestion for improvement: charging fees for using the safe, that shouldn’t be charged mainly in a four stars hotel.

I recently stayed at the RIU Arecas hotel in Tenerife for the second time, and it was excellent once again. The hotel service was friendly and attentive, and the two swimming pools were fantastic. The ability to use the nearby beach club was an additional plus. The food was very good and tasty, with plenty of options to choose from. There are ample parking spaces available, which is important if you're using a car. The hotel is conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from the seaside. Highly recommended!

We really enjoyed our vacation! 🏝️ Quiet, clean, delicious, beautiful hotel, 3 small pools with sun loungers and an exit to the ocean at 150m, with black sand. We ate enough seafood for a year ahead ;) Thanks for the service! 🤗

Second visit to this hotel, not disappointed. Staff exceptional with food to match. Easy walk outside the hotel to La Calleta and around. Not near the busier centres but transport good to get there. Good base for getting around and does not feel busy. Adults only hotel.

Lovely quiet hotel with standard rooms which are fine. Our room is miles from the main area and with limited mobility, not great. No animation team, the only entertainment is a singer ets that will keep the over 70s happy. Food is good and never struggle to find a table, staff are very friendly. There's a load of stairs to get to the beach and steep hill to get to any shops or the bus. We could find a sunbed however there's loads who take a bed then don't return for hours, in the busy season this would be a massive problem with not enough beds or chairs for all. On the whole we would return but not in peak season due to the sunbeds, it needs to be looked at by management.
