Just returned from our third trip to the RIU Arecas in Costa Adeje Tenerife. As in previous years we had an outstanding holiday. Excellent check in experience, excellent room, excellent food and excellent staff. All staff friendly and attentive, so much choice at every evening meal and the young lady who at breakfast yet again organised our poached eggs for us. The pool bar was the place to sample the Champagne Sangria and other delicious cocktails, wines and beer, all very reasonably priced. There was entertainment every evening in the theatre which was also really popular. The Christmas Banquet was amazing, again so many choices and all wines complementary. We have already booked for next year.

3rd time at this hotel. Just coming to the end of a one week stay. Nearly everything about this hotel is top notch. Very friendly staff and really great service. Breakfast and dinner are both fabulous buffets with a first class choice of very nicely prepared food. 3rd floor room with a balcony and sea view is very spacious and perfectly functional. Big bed, good plumbing, large walk in shower and loads of storage space. The upper pool area has two large pools with loads of sun beds and plenty of shade. The lower area with an infinity pool, terrace bar overlooking the sea is really lovely with a beach like area with sun beds and plenty of shade from parasols and palm trees. The beach is right outside and there are nice walks either way - turn right for la Caleta or left for el Duque beach and a lovely shopping centre. The hotel and grounds are kept spotless. This week has been very busy and for the first time we’ve seen the typical hotel rush to reserve sunbeds every morning! This despite the hotel stating it’s not allowed. But everyone was doing it so we joined in the fun!! I thought I was going to be able to reserve a bed in a good spot today until the gentleman in front of me managed to cover six beds with towels in one glorious flourish!! It was very impressive to watch and made me realise I’m an amateur at this game!! But I guess it’s a symptom of such a wonderful and popular hotel that’s it’s so busy that people feel the need to play that game. Overall, a wonderful week in a really lovely hotel.

From arriving at rui Arecas in October we were treated amazing, staff are the best apart from rui monica, all deserve a pay rise ,hotel lovely food lots of choice no problem with sun beds, waiter service excellent ,if beeing picky should serve food at pool bar at lunch as rui monica do , need to replace towels in room 😀 and softer pillows 😀 but that's me being picky lovely hotel and definitely recommend in a lovely position if you like nice restaurant and nice bars 🍸 definitely return soon 😀

We visited the hotel for 10 days in September. Check in was very good with a very nice gentleman that explained all the ins and outs of the hotel perfectly. Check in is at 3 ,we were early but were let into our room (1069) because it was ready .Lovely room overlooking the entertainment area and the pool to our right. From our first day to our last we enjoyed everything about this hotel. The food is very good, everything you could want for breakfast and evening meal. The pool area is spotlessly clean due to the hard work the pool guys do in the early hours, which i saw from our balcony.I don't think many people see this so the guys don't get enough praise. The entertainment at night was good,Mercury Rising(queen tribute)and Angel(singer)in particular. The biggest asset at this hotel is the staff.Every single one of them were polite, helpful and greeted you everytime they saw you.A special mention to our cleaning lady,Diana ,who works hard with a smile and a good morning everyday. Another mention to the young man on reception(dark hair, glasses ,great sense of humour)who helped with our checkout, luggage and booking the curtasy room, which is also great .Spotlessly clean and with 2 showers which is good because your not waiting for one to have a shower before the other can go in.Supermarket just up the road that stocks everything youll need. All i can say is we enjoyed every minute of our holiday and it was definitely one of those where you don't want to go home.We will definitely be back. Thankyou Riu Arecus.

Just returned from Adeje Tenerife and had a wonderful time we stayed at the RIU Arecas for two weeks. Overall the hotel was not bad eg. the swimming pools, grounds, view, most of the staff were very good at there jobs and freindley. However the hotel has some bad points that need to be addressed the room its self was ok with a lovery view but had some negatives the door to the room looked liked it had been kicked in at some time the wood surounding the door had not been fitted that well with gaps all around this needed filling and repainting the wall outside also needed the filled and painted, the shelf unit in the wardrobe had damage to the top just painted to cover up the missing wood, the draw unit was damaged and should be addressed. Some of the staff need training in customer relations as one night I was getting ice cream from the container which was aboout a quater full when the cheff decided to replace it with a full one just took it out while I was using it, just pushed his way in front of me without even a word, very rude . Its very difficault to get a drink in the lounge bar the waiters seem to run around like headless chickens with no stucture, if you want to pay as you go by card you have to go with the waiter to reception then they pay the waiter in cash and you pay reception this also applys to the restaurant. The entertainment last for about an hour between 9-10 pm after this the waiters collect the glasses so no charnce of getting a drink untill about 11pm. Tea and coffee are not topped up in the room so if you need more you have to ask in the restaurant in the mornning. Vera on reception was vey rude when we asked to pay our bar bill stating that most people pay at the end of their stay and was not at all happy when we said that we prefer to settle daily. In the restaurant the omelettes are not cooked to order just made up and put on a tray very little choice if you want an additional filling, no chance of having cheese and onion you are told cheese only. different. With the evening buffet food, flies were walking all over the food as the containers were no covered.

Brief aside: I think this hotel is also listed seperately on TA as ‘Riu Holiday Palace’ for some reason. We booked 5 nights here as part of a TUI package … £750 including flights, transfers, and hotel. I think I saw that the flights and transfers were about £450; if so then £300 (£60 a night) for this hotel is stellar value for money since we went half-board (breakfast and dinner) The hotel is in the Adeje region. It’s regarded as the classiest area in the south and it’s quieter although there are a couple of designer shopping centres and plenty of bars and restaurants (I recommend Gran Sol) . Ideal for couples and families. If you want nightlife and a party vibe it’s less good. Taxis are quite expensive … Uber to the busier areas of Cristianos and Americas are €25-30 and local taxis around €20-25 … despite them only being 3-4 miles (albeit over an hour walk) away. The local restaurants are about 15 mins walk from the hotel (although there are a couple cafe bars within 5 mins) The hotel itself is pretty and imposing from the outside. Inside it’s very clean and well kept … I’d guess it’s had a refurb in the last 2-3 years. The reception staff are happy, helpful, and positive. You can’t acquire water, snacks etc from the hotel (it has no shop) but there is a convenience store less than 5 mins walk away. We had a twin room and it was clean, modern and fully functional. Aircon is effective and kept the room at 22-24C My only slight gripe is that the room safe costs €8 a day … not sure if that’s common in Spain but it seems a bit off to have to pay an extra €48 to keep valuables safe from hotel staff? Food is buffet style with a very large choice, and good quality with plenty of seating indoor and out. Staff are friendly and efficient. The hotel has two large pools with sunbeds and shaded areas. It also has its own private man-made beach and pool with a pool bar. They’re clean and well kempt. The beach itself, along with a couple cafes / bars, is just opposite. It also has live entertainment most evenings from 9-10.30pm … Queen Tribute band and so on. Table service drinks are €7-9 for a cocktail. Beers around €4-5 … not bad and similar prices to the local bars in the area. Overall we had a great time … 4.5 / 5.0!

Where to start with this one. So close to getting it perfect. No issues at all with the basement rooms as per other reviews room was great and near the pool. Hotel has two pools at the main site and one near the sea we didn’t go to so can’t comment. Cleanliness is superb and staff lovely, clearly told to speak to guests which is fine. If you like a lay in though cleaners are around from 8am looking to crack on with guests rooms so make sure you pop your door hanger on. Two biggest gripes were pool bar shuts at 6 when load of guests still around looking for a relaxed beer maybe prior to dinner. Also no bar in the hotel other than this so its waiter service. If there’s an act on and you sit away from that area then no chance of a drink you have to go hunting for staff. Big shout out to Wilson at the pool bar area and Andrew on reception a credit to the hotel. Make sure you walk to La Caleta a small fishing village 20 mins up the coast gorgeous place. Would definitely recommend and go again so thumbs up from us.

Just returned from our 4 th visit to this hotel in a row I emailed in advance requesting a top floor room as it was our holiday to celebrate our wedding anniversary On arrival when we checked in we were given room 5045 which is amazing as the views from this room are stunning Another lovely surprise was a bottle of bubbly on ice really nice gesture As always the hotel is spotless the staff are so friendly and welcoming The food was great lots to choose from The ladies that were responsible for the dining terrace we so welcoming and attentive always with a lovely smile The bar staff in the evening were attentive and the entertainment was fun The pool had new loungers which I personally found a bit uncomfortable as they had arm rests We will definitely be returning Thanks to all staff for a fantastic 2 week holiday

Wow wow wow......the most amazing time. Anca you make the world a better place. The Aloha infinity pool was like holiday therapy, with the best views on to the beach and your attention to detail was phenomenal. We are only mentioning this more, is because this is where we spent most of our time. All in all will be back, we where taught how to relax. We need more Anca's in the world. X

The hotel Riu Arecas is such a lovely and clean hotel throughout. The food is absolutely tasty and amazing. ALL staff from reception to cleaners, throughout waiters are lovely and welcoming. The pools are great with plenty of clean sun loungers in shade or sun. Everything is well maintained. It is such a relaxing holiday. And a big plus is that you don’t have any annoying blasting music at pool or anywhere in the hotel all day (like in so many hotels). Also, it is an Adult only hotel which makes the difference, if it is pure relaxation you are after. The entertainment is only at nighttime and finishes at 11PM (another big plus). The rooms are fairly quiet and very clean. The staff seem to get on with each other and seem happy. The waiters are really all great but a very special thank you to the ‘baldy waiter’ (as he calls himself) Nahum and the cleaner Lina. Nahum is hilarious and Lina does the special touches in the room. I will take home nothing but lovely memories and hopefully return soon. Love, love, love this hotel as I had the best, (most needed) relaxing holiday.
