Hotel Avenida Coruña in La Coruna

The air conditioning didn’t work! We had to open the windows and there were too noisy outside, the hotel was so close to the highway. We couldn’t sleep properly.
Staff was good, everything was clean

It's well situated, but rooms were not as per our expectations. AC was not in functioning condition, they gave us a fan when we complained about it (which also didn't function well). Why allot a room if it's not in working condition? On top of it, the bathtub had a leak. Maybe it was not my day. Breakfast was good by the way!

This place was uninviting and cold from the moment I stepped in. First of all, it was NOT connected to the train station, as it was advertised. It was a few minutes away, but certainly was not connected – again, a minor thing, but given the intense unrelenting rain, I am surprised it was advertised as such. Second, I arrived a little early at 1pm. I understand that check in is at 3pm, but I asked if it was possible to potentially check in, given the weather and there was nothing else to do in the city. I was shocked that the check in clerk told me the room was ready, but she said something along the lines of that the system would not allow her to check me in or some nonsense like that until 3. I have never heard of such a thing, and have stayed in hotels around the world and used to work at a hotel so I find that extremely hard to believe in 2024. If a room is ready, why would you not let a guest check in? It’s not as if this is 10am, and I would be checking out early tomorrow for a flight. This is why I hate staying in hotels because these sort of rigid policies make absolutely no sense. There wasn't even an option to pay which I would have done given the circumstances. But it was just that she was extremely rude, as were all of her colleagues, without any sort of compromise or any sort of sympathy given the outrageous rain. Again, had there been something to do I wouldn't have minded dropping off my bags and leaving but it was unbelievable rain in Galicia. The café staff were equally as dismissive, when I ordered a coffee to kill the time. They were rude, truly just not polite, and the quality was honestly bad, I honestly should have asked for a refund but didn’t (I'm not that difficult). I have stayed all over Spain and have never experienced such service like this than I have at this place, and would urge you to consider staying elsewhere, despite this relatively convenient location and reasonable price point. I just felt so unwelcome. As to the positives, the room itself was fine, albeit small but that wasn't a surprise and that didn't bother me, and it was clean and relatively quiet. The breakfast was actually reasonable considering I had a long travel day I didn't mind the expense and it was a decent value.
