Hotel Marquesa in Puerto de la Cruz

This will give you a full review of the place with pictures. Please keep in mind this is my opinion after been to several hotels across the world but also the canary islands.

Before I say any bad things about the hotel, I would like to say that the staff was amazing and professional. The person that greeted us was on of the best staff members any hotel could have and he should really get a raise. Also please note this is a 3 star cheap hotel so you also get what u pay for.

Never the less here is why I am giving it 2 stars:

Closest parking is at the beach which will leave you with a 10 min walk to get there. Other hotels do suffer the same issue but many also dont and are located at less busy areas while still very close to the city.

No air conditioning (well they dont work) and this has to be one of the MAJOR concerns because in summer the island is HOT. The room was like a furnace (31 degrees according to the thermostat). 2 of the rooms that we got did not have access to the sea view but rather a wall meaning no wind would go in. But tbh they did offer to relocate us to the sea view however the wind is very strong and you wont have any peace. So either way js horrible.

The furniture is really bad. One of the 2 rooms we got had a closet with no door (was broken) the other rooms closet had a door that will almost break. Most of the other furniture looked like it will fall apart.

Can't comment on the food because we changed hotels before we can even try it, but I saw it was give 2.5 stars so..... I dont recommend.

The pool is tiny and barely fits anyone and is crowded when 10 people are there. So dont count on going to the pool.

Overall, if you just want a place to PURELY sleep and dont mind 30 degrees or you go in winter then it might be fine and the location is good. But this really cannot be a 3 star hotel with such facilities and standards. I am giving it 2 stars only because the staff were amazing and welcoming and returned our money.

Like many others have said, the location is great. Central, convenient — and unfortunately, loud enough to double as a street-side concert venue.

Even with the windows shut tight (no AC, by the way), the noise seeps in like an uninvited guest. The streets don’t quiet down until 2 or 3 AM — and yes, even with earplugs, the noise still finds its way in. It’s like the walls are made of paper and your room is just slightly more private than a park bench. Honestly, you’d be better off booking a place with actual insulation… or at least one that doesn’t make you feel like you’re sleeping in the street, rather than near it.

By night three, exhaustion becomes your lullaby — you don’t sleep so much as collapse.

If you’re reading this, do yourself a favour: keep browsing and book elsewhere if getting some actual rest is part of your holiday plan.

I recently returned to the marquesa hotel having enjoyed my time the year before. What a difference a year makes. My room was robbed of all cash. My cash was locked in my case. By mistake I left the keys to my case in the room in a small wallet purse on the room table. The case was opened my wallet was emptied of all cash (no credit cards taken or passport) then the wallet put back relocking the case and replacing the key inside the wallet purse on the table. There was also some money in the small wallet purse with the case key but this wasn't taken. I reported the incident to the management who investigated saying the only people who entered my room were myself and the chambermaid. This was confirmed through the room key-card entry system. Management said perhaps I left the door open (I did not) and someone from outside robbed the room. Who from outside the hotel would open a case relock it after getting the money and then replace keys? Unlikely as they would be in and out as quickly as possible so not to be caught. I believe this was a theft from within. The hotel advised they were not responsible as I didn't take a room safe and I of course could not prove who the thief was. It was a reasonable amount of cash so I warn anyone visiting the hotel to be very careful. I was given a complimentary drink from the manager a free safety deposit box following the incident and an extension to my room stay by a couple of hours on leaving date. A small gesture in light of the money stolen. Unfortunately and sadly it's not enough for me to ever return to the hotel after this terrible experience.

Best described as quaint or old fashioned. It really is worse than I could have Imagined. I booked with TUI UK via Manchester, currently the worst airport in the UK. I was dropped off by the coach about 1/2 mile away from the hotel. I was the only one going there! The TV in my room did not have a single TV or radio station in English! No TUI rep at the hotel either. Food was not good, mainly cold and generally unlike other Spanish hotels I have been to. They advertise WiFi throughout the hotel, they forgot to say except for my room! So I had to use my data allowance. I took a few pics of a religious parade tonight and when I got back to the hotel I tried to upload them. The hotel WiFi wouldn't connect, it had done previously. I took my phone to reception and she couldn't connect it, even after I had restarted it. She said she would report it tomorrow, along with the TV to get some English TV chanels. I have been here for about 24 hours! I hate to think of another two weeks of this!

I won't bother wasting my time writing a review of this hotel because the Manager attempts to justify the unjustifiable! They CANNOT justify the photos I'm about to post. The only thing I WILL say about the hotel is that the staff don't want to engage with (UK?) clientele ~ to the point that when they saw us coming, they were awful busy with the computer screen suddenly! Every time we passed reception, we said hello. Every time, we were simply ignored. If you like a cheap and cheerful break ~ stay away. The staff are NOT friendly or cheerful. If you want cleanliness ~ stay away (evidence in photos). If you don't want to be surrounded by "BRITS GO HOME" posters, don't go to this part of the island. If you have any mobility issues do NOT go here!! It's very hilly with steep steps too.
