With high hopes set by glowing reviews and appealing photos, we chose this hotel for its new appearance, beautiful gardens, inviting pools, and overall upscale ambiance. Upon entering the lobby, however, we were immediately underwhelmed...

We had a fantastic 4 night stay. Everything was 5 star. The evening buffet was very good.With a huge variety of food to cater for all nationalities. Rooms were fantastic and only 10 minutes away from a gorgeous beach.Would certainly recommend.

Great place to relax and forget your hustle life. Great environment too to bring your kids along. They have separate swimming pools, so no worries to cross with them on the pool 😉

The hotel was incredible and the attention from the staff was exceptional!! The selection of different-themed foods daily was amazing and delicious!! The pools and gardens were beautiful!! And the spa was out of this world!! Only negative would be that there was no proper entertain at night, perhaps as it was now September they could have had at least someone singing live on Friday and Saturday! But...

Lovely hotel with fantastic amenities and very family friendly. The rooms are spacious and very well finished each with a lovely terrace. The common gardens are spectacular as are the different swimming pools. We particularly enjoyed the food, especially at the Beach Club, and the great service from Ismael. We thought it is a luxury hotel as they mentioned but even the manager said they are not even close and they said this hotel is good only for Spanish and not good for English people the stuff don’t speak a word in English. Food is good

Great place, great views. Service more 3 star rather 5 star, so don't know how they got that high. At check-in unless you ask all details, they won't tell you anything, felt very arrogant staff. However at the pool bar, food was tasty, staff was friendly but place wasn't clean at all. Again, over rated hotel compared to others around!

Both the Barrosa Palace and the Playa La Barrosa are excellent hotels with entertainment at night (last night there was a dance at the Playa with singers), the buffets are excellent, the attention of all the hotel staff is attentive and attentive to what the guest needs! The scent of the sea rubs against the windows of this beautiful hotel. The breeze brings siesta with the sound of muddy waves. And if the day is beautiful, the night gives it that magical touch that you are looking for with your partner... I might only pass, but I would come back to feel like I'm lucky again...

This is a lovely place to stay a few days even if the quality of food was not up to the usual standard

We enjoyed a short stay, but long enough to confirm that this is a great hotel. Good food, good location, good amenities, exceptional cleanliness... But without a doubt the best thing was the friendly attitude of all the dining and front desk staff. We will definitely be back.

It is a nice hotel but old building and a bit expensive! We had a nice room which was a bit old fashioned but clean with a good view. Pool is nice although it was crowded and there is also direct access to the beach. The indoor pool is also really nice. They have a nice buffet but super expensive! I don’t recommend to take it.

This hotel is exceptional, we have stayed in many 5 star hotels in Spain including Paradores but this was amazing. The staff are amazing. Javi in the bar was wonderful.

Loved Barrosa Palace, it is a bit out of the way, not many English speaking staff though, I marked down service for trying to eat in the evening the staff didn't understand we were told at reception to go and just pay €23 each, we didn't have our hotel armband on so there was 4 different people coming over trying to ask if we were all inclusive, it felt awkward and demeaning, I was almost going to...

The hotel is pretty good. The service is really nice and I found the placer quite enjoyable. The location is at a good spot and the rooms are big enough. The only problema was the windy weather bit thats something they cannot control.

This is a great beach resort that does not give you the impression of being large. We never have to wait for breakfast or for pool or beach chairs or towels. Since many years one of our preferred places along the spanish atlantic coast. Prime location, outstanding staff and service throughout the stay. If a small critic is allowed : the REDlevel Lounge could be open an hour longer (after all we are in Spain) and the breakfast service should return to the setup with the service island in the middle of the central breakfast hall. Very nice hotel with an appealing ambience, Moorish-style architecture, great location with direct access to the beautiful Atlantic beach, great service, very friendly staff and always helpful, very good food. The holiday was really fun and extremely relaxing. The trips to the white villages, to Seville and to Tarifa, the southernmost point of Europe, were very interesting.

Super spot, we love the area and know that there aren't any intl level 5 star hotels. But this one is a 80s left over (albeit built end of the 90s). Design and level of rooms is 3 star max. They re did the rooms recently and managed to forget to re do water spots an walls and keep the original and broken windows in. I’ve been twice in consecutive years. Place is neat and in good shape. Food is good, rooms are also fine. Everything is clean. What makes this place different IMO from others is the staff. They are really interested in the work, super nice people and a beautiful big reason to be back! My son is in love with the kids club. To the point he prefers to go to the club than to the beach :)

We went from Malaga and we just loved it. Quiet location, very helpful and friendly staff. Abundant and quality food. Easy to park for free ... without a doubt, the best option for a stay in the Chiclana area, since the treatment and services are unbeatable, having the best price in the area. We will repeat without a doubt.

A very nice and well-kept hotel with exceptionally nice service. Very tasty and varied food, also for people who eat gluten-free. The hotel is quiet outside the season, but still has animations in the evenings, e.g. a flamenco performance. There is a beautiful, wide and clean beach right next to the hotel. My stay was absolutely amazing! The staff paid great attention to detail, creating a welcoming environment that made me feel at home. I also want to give a big shout-out to Chef Christian, who was delightful and cooked the most delicious pasta! If you visit, be sure to look for Christian and try his dishes!

Our holiday in this hotel was really great! Everything was on the top level. The variety of food is amazing, very delicious and fresh. The staff are polity and friendly. Check in was good apart from them forgetting to give us a room key which they rectified and later rectified to work at the beach door to come in and out. Nice resort. Location is great (2 minutes to the beach.) All inclusive. Food generally pretty good, wine awful, fizzy lager OK. Rooms are clean and a good size. We had a nice stay at Riu Chiclana and we enjoyed that we didn't need to "reserve" any spots at the pool since we could always find one even later in the day. There are different kids pools and pools for adults, and the kids areas (also a playground) can be closed with gates, so the little ones don't get lost or escape easily. However, sometimes it hindered us from switching to another pool faster...

I have only given 3 stars on the location because my adult son is in a wheelchair and although there are slopes everywhere you can't help but have to go up hill! I must say the accessible room he had has been the best we'v ever had. I was able to push his wheelchair into the shower for him to transfer to the shower chair.

The hotel was spotless, so clean and tidy. The facilities were fantastic, great for everyone, food was delicious and so much variety. Its very picturesque. Staff friendly and they make you very welcome. Fresh towels daily for the pool, maid service tidy room daily, you can't find fault...we had a great holiday definitely recommend to anyone thinking of booking.

Staff was very Hospitable and very friendly. The Families were great! Honestly, it is not a tiny place. It is a comfy trailer. Of course, it is smaller than an 2 bedroom apartment but it is just right for it size and price. We loved it! It was comfortable, safe, near the highway, fun, and we cooked our meals there! I will go back anytime. I believe it is a great option for travelers.

The hotel is great but a few comments, it’s worth noting that you need to pay for drinks even if you booked a half board or a full board. Also you need to pay to sit on the beach beds (that belong to the hotel)! A bit absurd to us and never seen before but other than that amazing place.

Good room, ample. We chose a seaview room, totally worth it, great sunsets. A stone through away from a fantastic beach with great facilities, showers, loos and chiringuitos ( beach bars). Breakfast buffet: ample choice but the quality a bit disappointing. Very tranquil surroundings, for dinner and drinks out you need a car.

The guests at our wedding virtually took over one block and their review was very favourable. I stayed for two nights before the celebrations kicked off and I thought the furniture and kitchen utensils were a little dated however the restaurant and bar was very good and there was a very good selection in the buffet. Final conclusion is this venue represent excellent value for money.

The attention was excellent and the hotel was amazing. I'm lactose intolerant and they made special breakfast treats for me. Excellent hotel staff. The spaces are beautiful, everything is very neat. The only downside is that they don't have mosquito nets and you can't sleep with the window open or they will eat you, and secondly all the posters are in German and I didn't understand...
