Hotel Los Jazmines in Torremolinos

Overall not bad value for money but this seemed more like peoples homes than a hotel. Very noisy, hardly slept with the shouting , dogs barking from balcony’s at 1.30am and people shouting passing our door and then everyone is up at 7 am. Not relaxing but if you don’t need much sleep your fine. Pool area is dated, the grass gets watered every morning so it’s muddy. Great location though and the rooms were spotless although dates. Wouldn’t come back

First the positives. The hotel staff was phenomenal. The receptionists answer your questions and are ready to assist. The cleaners are fantastic and took great care of the room each day. The pool bar is nicely stocked and serviced by great staff. The swimming pool is very warm, which helped since the sea was a bit colder. Finally, we had the occasional breakfast which had tasty options and fresh ingredients. The location is also great, right on the beach which is what we wanted. From a service, location, and staff point of view - 5 stars - you can hardly find better.

Now the negatives. The room was outdated. The walls are super thin, so you could basically hear people speak, snore, walk, etc. It was often impossible to fall asleep before 2-3 AM due to this. In the room without balcony there were no places to dry your clothes besides a small rack in the bathroom and the window. Finally and most distressing, the ground level room that we were in had uneven ground tiles when entering the room. This is not so problematic in itself as you hardly notice it, but it causes problems as there is space between the door and ground when closed. Because of this, we had a few encounters with cockroaches entering the room at night through this opening (heard at night some neighbors experiencing the same, I know that it is through this as once when coming back to the room at night I saw a cockroach entering the room through this). This was pretty stressful, and we had to place a towel on the ground by the door every night after that which stopped them. We told the reception, and they had sympathy for the situation and ensured a thorough cleaning of the premises. Interestingly, no other review mentioned this so it might have just been situational/ a fluke.

So the negatives mostly come from the fact that the room had structural problems and the unfortunate consequence of the hotel being surrounded with restaurants from where the cockroaches likely came (cleaners ensure a very clean room and surrounding so this was not because of a lack of hygiene). However, they should still have solved these issues if it were a serious hotel, so the 3/5 is only due to staff, otherwise it would have been 1/5.
