Reviews
Nice cocktails and great buffet selection at meal times
On arrival we were seen to quickly and our room was ready, even though we arrived at just after 12. First impressions of the room we were very impressed, obviously recently refurbished but still very nice and great view of the sea and the hills.
Food wasn't very good most of the time but as with all buffets you can mostly find something you like amongst it, it was a bit hit and miss most days.
Cocktails, for an all inclusive hotel in Spain, cocktails were shockingly bad, just came out of a machine ready mixed. I've never known this in a Spanish hotel. The beer though was san Miguel so that was ok, but the coke machine kept stopped working.
All the staff were extremely hard working, they have a lot to put up with due to the general poor standard of hotel, but do it as best as they can and always with a smile.
Back to the rooms, after about 5 days we started to notice ants in the room and reported it, within about 10 minutes a cleaner came up and just mopped the floor, so didn't really solve the problem. On the 2nd last day noticed a leak from the bathroom above but didn't report this as we couldn't be bothered moving room with only a couple of days left, so just put up with it which wasn't really all that often it leaked.
The entertainment was almost non existent, it's as if they don't want you staying in the hotel at night because you're costing them money by drinking the all inclusive drinks. One night was flamenco dancing, the rest was just bingo and 3 or 4 songs was the kids disco.
All in all it's in a nice location, it could be a very nice hotel if all the problems were ironed out, but I wouldn't stay here again as I've had much better stays in even lower starred hotels.
Food was bleak but you can find something to survive on.
Jairol was amazing and made our stay a 10/10 always smiling, engaging and making you feel welcome and entertained.
We are mid way into our weeks stay at this hotel.
We paid £2700 as a half board package to stay here as 2 single mums with 2 children aged 2 and 11. We always book half board as we like to venture out for lunch. We booked this hotel as it is described as having a soft play area and indoor play area , and we took this into account of our budget which is quite constrained. this hotel has neither soft play or indoor play area.
We were also treated as 3 people when we arrived. The 2 year old didn’t have a bed or towels , so we asked for a cot bed which he is used to sleeping in to be told it is €70 euros for the week. Next day we were told it was £35 euros for the week.
Which we refused to pay so they brought us a camp bed in.
My patience went when we went out the following day to come back and find our door had been left open by the cleaner. I contacted the jet2 rep who came to see us the following morning. The maintenance guy came to check the door even though we explained it had been left open, we were swiftly given a free cot bed and the camp bed taken away. But the issue of the soft play and indoor play area is yet to be resolved.
We have asked for a partial refund or for vouchers to go to the water park for the day to make up for the lack of facilities that have been falsely advertised. The hotel say that a climbing frame and slide that are on spongy floor is a soft play area and a wooden shed with a table and chairs in is indoor play. I beg to differ and it has been a real battle so far to keep our kids amused. I would have never booked this hotel if I had known the facilities were not there to start with.
We met with jet2 rep again today who is hoping to resolve this matter this afternoon, failing which ABTA will be informed of misleading advertising.
But I would like to think that the hotel will give us a token gesture in order for me to edit this review.
Otherwise the hotel rooms are nice and modern, the rooms are cleaned well , the food is of a good standard and plenty to chose from , and the location is great
Update the hotel does not wish to resolve the issue !!
When my shower gel was depleted one day, I asked for a replacement but was told I had to wait until the next day at 9 am for the cleaning lady. The receptionist said there was nothing he could do. A few days later, I found out that behind the reception, there is a whole stock of shower gel for guests who use the downstairs shower! (The clashing lady did actually show up the first thing in the morning at 9sm to refill it. That was good!)
Despite many people in the reviews here complaining about the food, it is really not that bad. The variety increased a lot during my stay, and the crew seemed to respond very fast to a complaint from a guest about the lack of vegetarian food and the incorrect descriptions. All descriptions were corrected. I also saw one waiter, Jose, check all the plates after a complaint that they were dirty. José greeted all guests and made us feel very welcome. Both José and his colleagues all work really hard. Daniel too is very welcoming when guests enter the dining room. During my stay, there was an Arabian food night, a vegetarian evening, and other specialities. They're is enough variety for most people. The deserts are also great, except for the ice cream.
I did not use any of the facilities. So I can't day anything about the bar or pool etc.
The rooms are okay. Nothing special. But fine. Our air conditioner was broken. The receptionist insisted there was no other room available. That turned out to be untrue, which was disappointing and seemed like a way to get rid of us. The ventilator on the ceiling was dangerously defect. Someone was sent to fix it but couldn't. Then we did get a new room. There were rooms available after all. Anyway, even though that was not a good experience, it was taken care of after some additional complaining.
All in all the quality of the hotel is fine for what you pay for it. If you stay at this hotel while visiting Málaga, Torremolinos and other places this is a fine enough place to stay, have a good breakfast every day and get a varied dinner buffet. Enjoy your vacation!
If someone noted something or discussed it, nothing has happened so far. I'm talking about basics like clean plates.... The plates in the restaurant that are dirty, especially on them bottom. One would think after so many complains that's an easy and quick fix but apparently it's not. If you grab a plate you feel the dirt underneath. I've read many people mentioning it and it's it's shocking nothing has happened until now.
What bothered me most is that many things are broken even in the "new renovated" rooms.
We got room 810 with a broken air-conditioning. On the next day we moved to a new room with a half working air-conditioning. I'm sure someone else gets the room without the functioning air-conditioning and it won't be repaired... Fingers crossed for the hotel that the new guests won't notice.
As the air conditioning in our new room is sometimes working and sometimes not, we decided to switch on the fan on the sealing. This fan is not properly fixed to the sealing and started dancing around the room. A real hazard. After mentioning it at the reception the fan was not fixed, only completely switched off... That's a quick fix ;) it can get very hot in the room.
Another fun surprise is to know when our neighbours one floor up take a shower as there is water coming down from the sealing in our bathroom.
Furthermore it takes 24h to have the shower gel replaced when it's empty so it's wise to inform the reception on time as the cleaning service is not going to act proactive. It's only our 2nd day here and I'm not looking forward to discover what else is gonna break.
Reviews about the food: I'm not talking about the bad quality anymore, as this was already mentioned by many other reviews. What bothers me most is the lack of vegetarian options. There are many signs on the buffet that suppose to highlight what's vegetarian and what's not but the sign does not correspond with the food below although today was an exception and there were a few options available. A salad with fish is not vegetarian and it would be nice to have a warm meal and not only salads. I'm sure this is also going to be discussed with the responsible department *wink* *wink* ;)
There is one positive thing about this hotel and it's the really hard working staff at the reception and in the restaurant. Everyone is friendly and is trying to make the most of what they have to work with.
The staff were all extremely polite and friendly.
The breakfast was amazing with wide choice of fresh fruit, juice, fresh eggs, coffee, and so much more! A huge choice of food available but the coffee was great.
The pool is not as big as it seems in the photos and it needs to have a heater installef because the pool gets V cold but still very very clean and great atmosphere for family and friends.
There is NO GYM! It says there is a fitness center or indoor gyn but that is not true and they need to remove this! I understand this will not apply to everyone but still, stating you offer a service when you dont is annoying.
Room views with the balconies were absolutely unbelievable and I have attached a picture below to show what the actual view was like! Seriously unreal and the rooms were neat and clean. The toilet itself had a design flow because it is right next to the sink so your knee takes a bit of a hit which I found really bad engineering BUT for the price this was an awesome place!
Quite literally a 2min walk to the beach, that is no joke! Check the balcony view from the room and tell me that is not worth it!
