Kyriad Prestige le Panorama Hotel in Beaune

This is not a hotel - it’s more like a motel for workers. The rooms smell like toilets and are extremely basic. We felt like trapped as we already paid for the room, we were tired and it wasn’t anything available nearby.
The restaurant was a disaster: we waited over an hour for starters and nearly two hours for the main course, while French guests who arrived later were served first. The staff showed clear favoritism, were rude, and completely unprofessional.
When we finally finished - long after the place was empty - they argued with us and made us pay at the reception. One staff member even shouted at us in French. Totally unacceptable!
By the way we saw another English speaking people begging for some bed clothes at the reception earlier, and the were ignored as well. Seams like a standard over there.
The food was very basic, like something from a cheap bar, and the local wine (7-8 € per glass) tasted like watered-down vinegar. It was overpriced for such low standards and ordinary food.
Avoid this place - no respect for guests, no sense of hospitality. I don’t know why, but every time I visit France, I have the feeling things are getting worse in this country - or maybe it’s just my false impression…

Upon arrival we asked on what side our room would be since the standard room clearly offers two different views and categories and were told that we would not know until 4:00pm. We suggested we could just cancel of that small request could not be met and he simply said go ahead cancel since there will be a taker anyway. He mentioned the city was fully booked. The reality is there were still a few rooms available and we did not want to wait to be told we had the bad room, so we went ahead and booked a lovely room at Hotel de la Cloche, who not only could show us our specific room, but also let us set in at 1:30.
The message was clear from that crappy hotel, if we are fully booked we do not accommodate since we do not have to. Customer service should not come when are desperate but always. Have a nice day and hope customers dwindle in the future.

Dinner and breakfast were ok. However, the fries were soggy, wine is expensive and when we ordered a cheese platter for dessert they charged us the more expensive aperitif platter. Also our room was worn and smelled musty. We expected more for the price we paid and wouldn't come back. Postive for us was the location: close to the highway and surrounded by wine fields where we could walk our dog. Staff is friendly.

Did not like the exterior or property. The rooms were ok, but problems with electricity and water coming through the bathroom floors. The property needs renovating badly
