Mercure Opéra Faubourg Montmartre Mini-hotel

Unfortunately no where near four stars. The room was small and not the cleanest. There was no isolation from street noise. One could argue that these all are normal traits for a hotel in Paris, but in that case let’s at least be honest with the fact that it is a three star hotel at best

I stayed at the Mercure Paris Opera for four nights in October 2024. The facility is not too bad. Rooms are small, but neat and tidy enough. Internal facing rooms are very quiet, so sleep quality is good. There are issues with the bathrooms (non-flushing toilets, water leaks etc). The main concern I have with this place is the staffing. In the first two days on four separate occasions, staff just walked into my room - no knock, just the door swinging open and someone was suddenly there for me. I find this incredibly uncomfortable. The cleaning staff would also block the only elevator for hours at a time, meaning a lot of walking up and down the stairs. Another huge gripe is the front door security. I got up early one morning for a job, and on returning back to the hotel, the front doors were locked. There is no key card access, you need to hit the intercom button and staff buzz you in...except that there was no one on front desk and I ended up locked out for almost 20 minutes! Such an odd approach for a Mercure Hotel. Overall, not a terrible stay, but there are some huge areas that need to be fixed.

Extremely small rooms, elevator broke down, bartender did not know how to make drinks, attitude was bad on female night clerk, Room phone did not work, location was far from tourist locations, which made it difficult due to Paris traffic. I wouldn’t advise people to stay closer to the Eiffel Tower. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

I cannot give it more than 2 stars. You’re literally just paying for a bed. Very poor design. Below basic. No wardrobe, just a tiny curtain with a very short hanging bar that allows you to hang a shirt but definitely no dresses. It says it’s family friendly. The “closet” wouldn’t even fit the clothes of 1 person.. so 2 people + baby would be impossible. Certainly I would never recommend it to anyone. For the same price you can stay in much nicer hotels in Paris.

One of the worst experience I ever had in a hotel.
It's smelly noisy staff is rude as rude a staff can be.
Unprofessional and untrained staff.
Shame that this is attached to Mercure which are normally decent hotels. Don't go there !
