Hotel The Playce by Happyculture

I’ve stayed at youth hostels when I was younger that are better than this hotel. The “lobby”/front desk area which is adjacent to the bar/cafeteria smelled like rotten eggs when I first arrived. How the staff tolerates the smell which was there throughout my stay is beyond me. It’s disgusting. The rooms are fine. The pillows can’t be called pillows. They belong in a doll house at best. Combine that with the constant noise of drilling somewhere upstairs throughout the night made it impossible to get a good night sleep. On my checkout day I asked for an extra hour as I had a video call for work and offered to pay. Perfectly reasonable to decline if the hotel is full but it was nowhere near full. I’ve had five star hotels give me an extra hour when available without a big fuss. Yet the front desk guy was adamant that it was impossible and hovered outside my bedroom to make sure I left on time. And location wise yes it’s technically montmartre but it’s in a seedy part of the neighborhood and not comfortable at night. I’d rather stay on a park bench next time i am in Paris than ever set foot in this place again.
