Grand Hotel in Esztergom

Overall, a great place, rooms are great, space is fine, the activities at the hotel will suit most, catering is excellent, staff is very friendly.

The hotel is very beautiful, elegant, and tastefully modern. The room was spacious with comfortable beds. There’s access to a wellness area and, for children (and not only), a games and play zone. A perfect spot for families with kids. Combined with the nearby water park, it’s almost an ideal place for a family holiday.
The food was excellent – delicious, nicely presented, and varied, especially at dinner. Breakfast, however, felt a bit repetitive. I missed some variety, like omelets instead of scrambled eggs, or pancakes instead of crepes. After a full week, it gave the impression of being the same every day, even though the dishes were fresh and tasty.
The biggest downside for me was the drinks. The coffee was really disappointing, especially the milk-based ones, since the machines used powdered milk instead of fresh. The juices were also heavily watered down. And to my surprise, even water at dinner came with a charge – around €4 for a large bottle including service. I can understand paying for alcohol, soft drinks, or juices, but water? That felt a bit much.
On the positive side, the hotel staff were very kind and helpful – you could ask for anything and they would take care of it. The wellness zone, fittingly called the Basilica Spa, is worth visiting if only for the amazing view of the surrounding hill with the basilica on top. The nearby aquapark does spoil the view a little, but the saunas and jacuzzis with that panorama more than make up for it.

There was a bit of a mix-up at the beginning — we booked a different type of room than the one we received. However, it was resolved very quickly, and we were compensated in every way. The staff was very kind and friendly, the hotel is in a great location, and the food was delicious with a huge variety to choose from. The playroom is more than amazing — even parents can enjoy themselves there. The hotel doesn’t have its own spa, but you can walk over to the neighboring one in a bathrobe, which wasn’t a problem at all. There’s a changing room there too, so even with two kids, we managed just fine. All in all, it’s a fantastic place, and we’ll definitely come back again — I just hope the quality stays the same.

Fantastic Stay in Esztergom
We are coming back again. This was our third time. The hotel boasts a fantastic location, offering stunning panoramic views of the Danube River and the Esztergom Basilica. 2 kids and my wife enjoyed it.
Pros:
* Location, Location, Location: As mentioned, the view is exceptional and the hotel is within easy walking distance of the Basilica and other key attractions in Esztergom. It made exploring the city incredibly convenient.
* Friendly and Helpful Staff: From check-in to check-out, the staff I encountered were all very welcoming and eager to assist. They provided helpful information about the area and were efficient with any requests. Bartender David makes great cocktails, especially Old fashioned.
* Clean and Comfortable Room: Room was well-maintained, clean, and huge size for whole family.The bed was cozy, and I appreciated the amenities provided, such as toiletries and a coffee maker.
* Delicious Breakfast and dinner buffet offered a good variety of options, including both hot and cold dishes, fresh bread, pastries, and local specialties. The coffee was also excellent.
Our experience at the Grand Hotel was overwhelmingly positive. The breathtaking views and the friendly service were definite highlights. I would certainly consider staying here again on a future visit to Esztergom and would recommend it to others looking for a comfortable and conveniently located hotel with stunning scenery.

Very pleasant stay and experience. Spent two nights with our 2-year old and everything was perfect. We enjoyed the kids playroom (an entire floor with games and areas for all preferences), the big pool complex on the opposite side and the restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Staff was friendly and caring in all departments, room comfy (loved the bed sheets) and the overall ambiance was very relaxed and put us at ease. The robot in the lobby is great for kids! Even the GM took a minute to have a chat with us and gifted a toy robot to our daughter. We booked a festive package and it was a great value for money. Highly recommend to families!
