Bodrogi Kuria Wellness Hotel

Unfortunately we booked the bodrogi kuria for our wedding, not knowing, how bad the price-value ratio was.
At check-in there´s no information about the breakfast, spa, bar, amenities, basically nothing. We had to specifically ask the receptionist to get any information - no initiative whatsoever. But she´s not alone, all the staff members share the same mindset and incompetence.
We started our big day already sleep deprived, after only 4 hours of sleep, because the "modern suite" is facing the wedding venue. If there happens to be a wedding the night before, you better bring earplugs. We didn´t know.

At my wedding, due to a surprise gag, I had to go into a side-room to change. A service worker ran after me and stood in front of a refrigerator, in which I saw 3 plates with a random assortment of our desserts set aside in a separate fridge, hours before they were supposed to be served as 1 type per tray. At that time I did not think much about it, but in hindsight it is highly suspicious.
For the special day I bought 2 bottles of expensive Whiskey. I did not take a drink for myself, but friends told me, the bartender half-filled their glasses, so after around 14 glasses both bottles were already empty! The next morning I brought up the bartender's incompetence about several things at the front desk, to which the receptionist shrugged her shoulder and said: "Ah yeah, he's my son, haha.".

People with food intolerances/allergies should not go here. During the months of preparations, we indicated several times that I am lactose intolerant. At the wedding dinner that was fine, but until then there was not a single lactose-free option, even though we had to notify them weeks in advance who was having dinner there the night before. Since there were less than 20 people at the dinner that evening, I could only choose from two types of main courses and one dessert, all of which full of dairy products. So my options were to suffer or to stay hungry. When we asked if I could have anything else to eat, or get a drink as compensation, because the full amount was charged, I was told "unfortunately, we cannot provide this". This sentence we heard over and over again. On top we had to pay 10% service fee for passing a bottle and a glass from the other side of the table and I had to ask for cutlery twice. Probably because the waiter, as 90% of the staff, doesn´t speak a single word of English.

Overall the place feels cheap and you see they safe wherever possible, the staff, toilet-paper (which we didn´t even have), the "fountain" is badly wallpapered with a plastic foil, and so on. This type of shabby prevails through every single aspect of this 4-star hotel. Stay away!

Unfortunately, we didn't have a great stay. We spent one night as we were in transit. First, the buffet dinner is not worth the price. The choices are limited; there are no real entrees. The beef stew was the only delicious item. The fries, for example, were very dry.
We had a problem with the shower cord. No one from maintenance could help, so the receptionist tried to twist it around and claimed that it worked. When we asked the second time, she came again to check and came with a new cord but no tools. Only then, at approximately 10.30 pm, did she suggest offering a new room. It was too late, as our toddler was almost asleep, and I didn't want to bother her.
Speaking of the toddler, we received a crib, but it barely had a mattress and was hard as a rock.
The breakfast was good, and the bed was comfortable. Despite this, we will never come back.
