Continental Hotel Budapest

We did enjoy our stay at the Continental Hotel and the venue was beautiful. Small details like chocolates in the room upon arrival were lovely. Overall however, I would not be confident recommending this stay to family and friends looking for a 4 star hotel or above. This is a 3 star hotel with some added bonuses like the spa. The shower in our original room leaked and flooded the entire bathroom. The pool is small with a thick layer of scum around the waterline. Lounge chairs and towels were scarce. The hotel absolutely has potential but management needs to pay attention to the overall cleanliness and consistency of what is on offer. For what we paid, we were disappointed.

Unfortunately the room did not live up to its description on the hotel’s website. We booked directly with the hotel last August, the executive room description states that they have either a city or courtyard view. Our room had a frosted glass window with a view over the arched roof over the bar. When I asked at reception I was told that all executive rooms have the same view. The bed was made daily but the room was not cleaned, the same long dark hair that welcomed me was still there on the day we checked out. The tea and coffee were not refilled. Breakfast was fine but when I asked for poached eggs I was told that it would take 15 minutes, in other words go away. The staff at reception were very friendly and helpful but nobody reached out to find out if my issue with the room had been dealt with. I loved the location but I don’t think I would come back and I wouldn’t recommend to other people.
