Reviews
The infrastructure is severely worn down: furniture, carpets, beds, doors, and bathrooms all show signs of decades of neglect. The name "Palace" is quite misleading, as the hotel no longer reflects anything regal or luxurious.
My room was particularly disappointing. The furnishings were outdated and heavily used, the window couldn’t be closed properly, and just outside was a ventilation unit that emitted a constant hum 24/7, making restful sleep nearly impossible. Given the price, this level of quality is simply not acceptable.
On a positive note, the receptionist was understanding and offered a small gesture of goodwill by waiving the charges for breakfast and parking. While appreciated, it didn’t quite make up for the overall experience.
I had not a great experience in Hotel Bologna Centrale. And it is not because the hotel is quite worn down, which it is, but because of the cinema next door. I was placed in room 315 and the whole room is shaking and you can hear the whole audio of the movies next door. I complained about it and asked for another room. At first they tried to play it down "ah yeah it's nothing, it will stop after 10:30" (the last show was scheduled for 10 and lasted for almost 3 hours)
They then gave ma another room for one night, but said they are booked out for the second night that I am staying and that I should talk with the reception manager in the morning, which I did.
The reception manager was also quite unfriendly and repeated that they are booked out and led to me cancelling the stay prematurely and booking another hotel for the next night.
The thing is: this is not a new topic. Other guests have already left comments here about the problem on the third floor. I understand that you cannot hand out a room if the place is full, my question is, how much do you give a crap about your guests that you neither mention it in the check in and hand out disadvantage rooms at the full price?
I will definitely don't recommend it.
PS: critiscm about Bologna: 6,50 € city tax per night is simply too high.
the positives are the clean and hygienic bathrooms, the very tall ceilings and windows, the amount of space, it's huge, and the wonderful front desk staff who are always trying to be helpful. and not to mention the attractive price.
the downsides : well, it's an old building, as everyone else has commented, and there is some street noise, but i was able to sleep fine and it didn't bother me at all. the main thing for me was that everything worked fine in the bathroom which it did: no problems there with the water pressure. and it was modern and up to date and sparkling clean.
the location is excellent. just one street away is via ugo bassi which is lively and nice for people watching.
i only wish i had left my clothes in the suitcase and not put it in the wooden chest because the chest has some kind of chemical substance used to treat it which smells weird and it got onto my clothes.
Ok thats out of the way.
Stay away from this hotel.
Stayed at this hotel for 3 days this summer. Got nothing against the staff. Not their fault.

Stay away from this hotel.
AC did not work. Had to use a fan.
Old , dirty carpets that are almost ripping out.
Yellow, cheap bulbs.
Dirty shower curtains.
Dirty tiles, with mold.
Door keys are from the medieval times.
This is no better than a roadside motel.
I am extremely disappointed in the hotel, and in Expedia for even listing this. The owners should be ashamed.
We stayed in a 3 star hotel in Florence for the same number of days and total expense, and that was leaps beyond what this place is.
See the pictures for evidence.
Stay away.
